I took my car 2 Terry muffler to have some collectors put on from some new headers. that was a mistake. he put 2-in pipe around 3-in collector fill the Gap with gasket material I did not find out until 2 weeks later when I heard a tapping. went to change the gasket that's when I noticed what he did.. brought my car to miety muffler. was the best move I could have and should have made at first.. the guys really did a good job. thank you for correcting someone else big mess up read more

Update: I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and Mitey responded by completely lying about what had happened. They sent the BBB a false account of our interactions along with a totally fabricated quote they said they had provided me for the services. They also alleged that they wanted to fix my mirror properly but I insisted on doing things as cheaply as possible. Zero of this actually happened. I'm so disgusted that there are business owners out there who would be so terrible to their customers. Actually, I'm disgusted that there are people out there who would be so terrible to other people. I get that this isn't one of life's great atrocities, but how hard is it to just be decent, own up when you've done something wrong, and fix the mistake? I called Mitey because I got a flier from them in the mail. I asked the man who answered about pricing for a transmission flush (my dealership said I needed it at 30,000 miles). He asked how many miles my car had and for more info on the car. He looked it up and told me that I actually didn't need this service for a long time, and that the dealership was probably trying to get more $$. He told me to check the manufacturer's book but said according to them I didn't need this service until a lot later. He also gave me some great advice about what I would probably need to get done in the next year so I would be aware.'s This man could have told me to come in, done the service and taken my $, as I didn't ask if I needed it, I just asked for a price. Instead he went out of his way to not only make sure I needed it but also was honest with me that I didn't. It is rare to find someone in this industry that would give up money in the interest of honesty and they have just gained a loyal customer, when I actually do need service on my car :) I ended up going to have a new tire put on my car, it was a fast, and painless experience. They have a really nice waiting area, flat screen tv's, and as many 12oz cans of Soda you can drink.. FREE.. I recomend going here to anyone who has had bad experiences with auto repair shops in the past. They are really 5 star. read more

**update** I have been here many times since and have recommended this place to three of my friends. We have all had repeatedly great service for very fair prices. Once I went it because I was smelling a horrible burning plastic smell and my AC had stopped working. Thought it might be a belt, but when he ruled that out he realized that the plastic sign I had put in the bed of my truck and forgot about was in contact with the exhaust. He pulled it out and sent me on my merry way for free! As a female that knows little about cars I am very wary about having the wool pulled over my eyes, but from my first impression I would return for any future problems. I have a so-call high performance vehicle and so I won't trust anyone with my car, but I would say they are worth a try. I rolled up Saturday morning at about 8:30 and it was about 45 seconds between getting out of my car and it being rolled back to be looked at. The mechanics were all very friendly and very knowledgeable, taking the time to answer all of my questions in great detail. My problem was diagnosed in about half an hour. Unfortunately they didn't have the part on hand but rather had to call all over town and send an employee out to Kenner to pick it up. I'm very happy with the service I have received there. They offered one of the usual "add on" services of a fuel line flush, but didn't give me a hard sell at all when I turned them down. They also didn't charge some lady who came in because she had a "low tire pressure" light on her car for a 29 PSI tire. In all, knowledgeable, honest and efficient. I had to change my headlamp. I went to the NAPA up the street got the right bulb and started to change it. I got stuck on one step and was in a rush to leave for New York that day. I pulled in and was ready to wait in line behind the 6 people in the waiting room and be charged an arm and a leg for this necessary repair. The nice man behind the counter, came to the car unlatched a few doohickeys, showed me how to take out the casing, and replace the bulb in 3min and didn't charge me. I was very stressed out and greatful for his kindness. If I am ever in NOLA again I would go back there for bigger repairs. read more

Mitey was chosen because it was a locally owned store and we felt it was important to support any New Orleans community. They were friendly when we dropped the car off and were patient when listening to the problem. When we dropped the car off, it was estimated the cost of the mirror repair would be between $60-70. When my girlfriend came to pick it up, the price was set at $100. This price was even with the spare parts being pre-bought. Less than a month after, the window fell off while in the driveway revealing they had just put sticky tape on the back and she was left with a broken mirror. This type of labor obviously didn't need several days and $100 for completion. They were unhelpful when my girlfriend called back asking about the poor service and were unwilling to help find a solution or give a refund. read more

A million thanks to Mike and his crew at Mitey for fixing my gas tank problem today! These guys are freakin' awesome! Being a woman who knows nothing about cars other than the You Tube videos I find when trying to self-diagnose problems, Mike took time to listen to my concerns, investigate alternative issues and to fix the problem in the least-expensive manner. Apparently, the initial thought was a fuel neck (whatever that is) issue and would have been more expensive to replace. Upon investigation, they discovered that there was no air flow in the charcoal canister (who'da thunk?), so they tried that first. It worked! I was able to fill my gas tank without stopping 1400 times for the first time in a month! Woo-hoo! And I saved another $350. Thank you to Mitey and to my co-worker for the great recommendation. Muffler blew on the way down to NOLA on vacation. As an out-of-towner, I picked Mitey because of its reviews on Yelp, even though it was 15 minutes from our hotel. Couldn't have had a better experience. Came in soon after they opened on Monday morning, they took me in right away. Mike diagnosed the problem as a backfire, gave me multiple reasons why it could be the case, and was friendly and efficient the entire time. HIs guy replaced the muffler, fixed a couple smaller things, and sent me on my way. Five minutes on the road, I heard a hissing sound from the exhaust system. Called Mike, told him I was coming back in, he said to do so, and then put the vehicle back up on the rack. Said the hissing was rusted part of tailpipe, which he then took upon himself to fix by welding. Short-term fix but enough to get me home and get the whole thing taken care of when I have more time. I got an education, a fair deal, and terrific service. Since I don't live nearby and hope I never have an issue next time I visit, the best I can do is leave this review and hope it helps influence others to go here. read more

I finally found my dream mechanic/repair shop. I have an older Lexus SUV that is finicky and has lingering rust issues from surviving so many winters up north. I've been to well over 6 mechanics in the greater New Orleans area, and can confidently say Mitey is the absolute best! Prior to Mitey, I was relying on Keith's Auto. While I can't say too much negative about their business as a whole, I noticed some of the people didn't do as good of a job as others. After being dissatisfied with the service and their prices, I went over to Mitey for quote and was pleasantly surprised, not only was it significantly cheaper, their repairs were significantly better. They did all new rotors and brake pads, and I had two mechanics (well, one aviation mechanic with a penchant for cars and one auto engineer who works for Ford) take a look. Both were so impressed, they started taking their trucks to Mitey for repairs. If you have been dreading having your car or truck looked at, do yourself a favor and go to Mitey. I went in get a l estimate on a muffler repair. I was quoted 220.00. I came back 2 day later and ask how much was it going to be I was told $400 for the same job. I told the that I have a quote y'all gave me for 220. Why is it 400 today. I was told that they never gave me a quote. Being new in New Orleans, I relied on yelp for the good reviews to bring my car here to be worked on. They were very friendly and seemed to really be invested in making sure my brakes were fixed when the brake line quit working. They charged me $400 to change a brake line. But then, broke a caliber and called back to tell me it would be $800 dollars, just to fix a brake line and a caliber. They did not tell me from the beginning that there was a possibility a caliber could break and that it would be an additional $400 dollars. I had no choice but to pay the 800. They assured me my brake pads and everything else was fine. As soon as I got the car back, there was a god awful squeaking noise Every time I used the brakes. I took it back and they said something was rubbing and they would fix it. They gave it back to me telling me that they fixed the noise and I was good to go. As soon as I pulled out I instantly heard the same squeaky noise. I do not believe they even looked at it this second time to see what was causing the noise. I took it somewhere else because I felt I was getting inadequate service and quite frankly taken advantage of because I am a young girl who knows nothing about cars. The new place told me the noise was from having no rear brake pads! Even though Miteys shop told me my pads were completely fine. I would never take my car here to be worked on. Mike was super friendly when I called to see if they did this kind of work. I dropped my car off around 9 and they already had a long line of cars waiting. They called around 4:30 to tell me the car was finished. Apparently, I had some wires that were exposed and dry rotted. They fixed me up and even fixed my front bumper that was kinda hanging off. I have two daughters in University in New Orleans. Both have old cars that need constant attention. Finding a competent honest mechanic was very important to me because I live 600 miles away, and cannot be there to help them. Mitey was recommended by one of my daughters friends. She has been taking her car there for two years and swore by them, so I gave it a try when my daughter's car needed some work on her 2000 Volvo Wagon. I have to say that I am very pleased. Mike called me, discussed the issues (several of which were small repairs that no one else would take care of) and fixed them very quickly, and for a very reasonable cost. They could have easily taken advantage. Instead, Mike understood that he was working on an old car that we were nursing along to make it last until my daughter graduates. He and his staff were extremely friendly and not at all like your typical bitter, condescending mechanics that I usually have to deal with.
