Recently I've been renting the south ballpark for youth softball practices. It's well maintained, is appropriately priced per hour and has a plethora of (nearby) parking. You can reserve ball fields through the Coralville Rec online, via a form. (Spring softball fields are insanely hard to come by and require a draft.) Great park we found out about from friends who discovered the ENORMOUS play structure here. The…read morepark includes the aforementioned playland, some baseball diamonds, an aquatic center and plenty of free space for the chilluns to burn off some energy. The benches and pavilions are quite nice as well and make for some perfect outdoor dining on spring evenings. It's located on the east side of Iowa City just past Sycamore mall, so it's a bit of a jaunt for those in North Liberty or Coralville. That said, it's not all that far and it's worth it for the playland. A must check out for families and close to Jimmy Jacks so you can get some legit takeout BBQ while you're here!

Oh and most importantly, this mythical dream park is for ADULTS ONLY. If you have, consider yourself warned: DO NOT go to Mercer Park. Because oh my gosh, you'll be totally jealous at what the Iowa City kiddos get to play on. Iowa City's largest play area (I'm hard pressed to think of a bigger one) is only two years old and is pure magic. It's got a sensory play center, a net climbing course, a MASSIVE tower with enclosed slide and equipment meant for kiddos ages 2-to-5. There are also shelters, picnic tables, grills, lit baseball/softball fields, tee ball field, tennis courts, a refurbish old fire engine play structure... you name it-- it's got it. Even the indoor aquatic center lives at Mercer, too. There's ample parking and literally kids (and adults?) of all ages will enjoy it. My kids (ages 2 and 4) absolutely love the ginormous tower and crazy four person seesaw. Come check it out!

The weights and machines have rust, most of the pads have rips, and some of the machines are broken. The entry way is nice and the smoothie bar is awesome! The road way and parking lot are well taken care of but I do wish the was more landscaping done outside. I like seeing wildness after I am done working out not hotels and highways. Like I say, good bones but needs some improvements. I have recommended the North Dodge Club to a lot of my colleagues and family.

NDAC is a decent sized, family owned, athletic club that's pretty equipped with exercise equipment…read more I stopped here during a cross country trip to just check the place out, get a day pass, exercise a bit.. and get a much needed shower. The price, at least for a day pass, was definitely worth the stop. Plenty of classes offered... massage therapy offered, and great staff overall. If I ever find myself doing another cross-country trip again, I'll probably stop by here again. If you're local however, goodness... just check out the place if you haven't already!

On the coldest day of the year I decided to park my car and watch the birds ---- bald eagles to be exact. At least 25 of them. Just, wow! Is this an Iowa City thing? If so, I'd drive here just to bird watch at City Park more often. Looks like a fabulous little park (from what I can see under all the snow). Would be a fun place to come back and visit during the warmer months. Recommend - if for no other reason than to bald eagle watch!

At more than 100 acres, it's massive and divided into Upper and Lower City Park. Outdoor pool? Check. Huge, new adventure playground? Check. Trails? Check. In addition to standard play features, City Park also boasts Riverside Theatre's Shakespeare Stage, historic cabins and public art. I do wish the pool was a modern aquatic center and the park had more wintertime activities, such as an outdoor skating rink. All around though, a solid place to spend a morning or afternoon!

Muscatine aquatic park - had a man try to intimidate me (female) in the pool yesterday 7/3/25…read more I was in the water, a younger kid jumped in beside me so I turned my face away because I had on prescription sunglasses on. A woman says "I don't know why you come to a pool and don't wanna get wet". To which I replied "since you're so concerned I moved my head so I wouldn't get splashed in the face". Her (assuming) Husband walks over to her and says "what's going on ?" The woman tells him something, and he then comes over to where I am (a good 30 feet away) and gets in my face yelling at me about "what the f*%! you say about my kid??" He was yelling so hard that his fake teeth flew out his mouth. I'm a 6 ft woman and I will not back down from a so called "man" who gets in my face. I backed up moved around and he was still in my face. I moved to the side of the pool to which he followed me and put his arm over mine and continued to yell. I wasn't quiet either, I was yelling telling him to get out of my face. He took a balled up fist and punched his other hand with it IN MY FACE, and flinched at me as if he was going to hit me. I pushed this man away from me and he fell back into the water. There wasn't a single person trying to help me out, no lifeguards blowing whistles or staff coming over. When they finally did, he went over to them and started talking..there were other women around upset because their kids were crying, telling him to stop (at this point I had got out of the poo). NOW people want to come over and talk and give their stories. I left the pool with my kids and called back to talk to the manager. Apparently he did nothing wrong, she said "oh we were looking for you to get your story". NO THANKS MUSCATINE AQUATIC CENTER! This man may like to intimidate women, but this one stood her ground! Muscatine Aquatic Center allows men to intimidate women in the pool..enter at your own risk!

This place has grown a lot since I was a kid and there was a worn dirt path around a pond, an apple…read moregrove and some picnic tables. I just discovered a driving range, $3 a bucket, bring your own clubs. A giant soccer area. tennis courts. Outdoor fitness equipment. Softball fields. Frisbee golf - which looks incredibly hard for some holes. I think I remember seeing volleyball nets somewhere. Oh and what draws me is the running path that goes over the interstate to the high school on the other side and beyond. I do miss the apple trees. We used to collect them and press them and make cider. I know you can also rent the gazebos for parties through the parks and rec division. Lots of open green space!
