Visited Mix Bricktown for the BGR! Detroit Chapter welcome event during the Detroit Free Press Marathon, and it did not disappoint! We were out on the patio -- perfect weather, great music, and an even better vibe surrounded by runners from BGR! chapters all across the country. ‍ The setup was buffet-style with a fun mix of eats: chicken tenders, lasagna, Tex-Mex tacos, jalapeño poppers, veggie spaghetti, and cupcakes to top it all off. Everything was bussin'! Flavorful, hot, and clearly made for hungry runners ready to celebrate. The fruit punch and lemonade hit the spot too (though bottled water was $4, which made me laugh a little). The servers were on point -- super attentive, friendly, and kept everything flowing smoothly even with such a big crowd. Between the food, the energy, and the company, it was an unforgettable night. So mix is what it is. It's not super fancy or overly flashy, but you will get decent vibes and good food. Most of the time lol. It's a staple on this block because it's been there for quite some time. You know exactly what to expect and I can appreciate that. I want to mix for an event, and mix this set up to where there's a bar in the front and a bar in the back so you really are getting two establishments in one shot. The front part has a DJ and a little dance floor situation. It has the full bar there and some seats so you can really kick back there. Or if you want to stand outside you can do that as well, because they have a little gated area where you could actually have some drinks if it's a nice night. Now if you go to the back, there's the beach bar situation. This is cool because I have a lot more going on. You go through the doors and go to the back and you have a full bar as well, and they have basically a big tent that has a DJ and a dance floor area. Also, if you go outside there is a place to get food and sit out and eat. You can also play some games, they have some tabletop games like Jenga and Uno. So it's really a fun time. Now. The only thing is if the weather allows you to enjoy it. If it's adverse weather, and that could be excessively, rainy or excessively hot, you have to be careful. Either way, it's a good stop off and it's very walkable. People often Park in the area, not free. Parking, go around bar hopping. And this is the perfect start or stop to it. read more

MIX totally threw down over Movement weekend. The drunken brunch featuring Oliver Dollar brought us to this great spot on Sunday morning. The venue was awesome- inside/outside area with games, seating, bar & live music. I opted for the bottomless mimosas- great choice! They kept me filled up while I was enjoying the music. Yesterday On St. Patrick's Day 03/17/2026 A Male Employee Walked In The WOMENS Restroom To Change The Tissue While Me And My Friend Were In The Stalls Peeing And A Couple Other Females Were In The Restroom Also . One Female Asked If She Was Going To Be Raped And The Man Laughed And Said No. I Came Out The Stall Because I Was Confused On Why I Heard A MAN. I Asked Why Didnt He Wait Until The Restroom Was Clear Or Why Didnt He Hand The Tissue To A Female Standing In Line OUTSIDE The Door. I Also Told Him That I Wanted To Talk To A Manager Because That Is Unacceptable, Invading My Privacy As A Woman & I Feel Violated. He Said Was The Manager So I Asked A Security Guard And Told Him What Happened And The Security Said That The Man WASNT The Manager ! For Him To Feel Comfortable To Do That He Has Done It Before And Thats NOT Ok !!! I Have Called Multiple Times And Left A Message On Instagram And No One Has Responded To Me ! I was in Detroit for the weekend and decided to stop at this place to get a quick bite. I honestly feel like it's a very low budget place to eat. The food is all right because it is straight up bar food. There's nothing fancy about eating in this place at all. The service was just OK, I didn't even get offered water. Maybe it's better at night as a lounge, but definitely not as a restaurant. I even though the ambience was a little just OK, it's still not a place that I would definitely be wowed to come back to. read more

Came here for a fundraiser...I have not been in here in quite some time and I don't know why because I truly love this spot....I love it so much I actually had my wedding reception here. Anywho, it is a really nice spot to come to for their happy hour, girls night out or if you're just hanging downtown. I really love that it's just the perfect size, not too big amd not too small. They make some really good drinks and the bartenders are very cool!! They do have happy hour specials for drinks and food!! They often have special events and a special thing to know is that it is owned by DJ Lynda Carter who is super nice and she also owns another local Detroit bar called the LockerRoom. This place was a great find. I was recently in Detroit for a conference & lucked out by stopping in this POC LGBTQ-owned bar. Staff were so friendly to our group. MIX Bricktown is a new spot downtown Detroit, providing us with a place to listen to music, network, enjoy cocktails and more. With a rotating daily schedule (Monday = Be Your Own DJ, Tuesday = Perfect Mix Open Mic Poetry, etc), there's always something going on. Even when there's nothing specific, it's still a good place to lounge and chill out. The bartenders are welcoming, friendly and engaging and you'll find yourself pulled into a fun conversation or topic with other people at the bar. Once you're there, you'll feel right at home. There is a full bar, so the choice is yours when it comes to cocktails. There is also a list of specialty drinks to choose from. These drinks incorporate the downtown area by including the names of other businesses and landmarks in their names. Pretty sweet. There is a rotating wine of the week, cocktail of the week and beer of the week, so you'll always have a new something to try or fall in love with again. The music is always a win. There are various DJs that spin there playing good music to dance or just vibe out to. If there isn't a DJ in the house on a particular night, there is a jukebox, so there isn't a dull moment. I won't waste my time with a long review of the terrible service. Waited 1 hour to order food from the truck for an event that had about 5-6 options..was told to give them 10min on the order..it was another hour and the eggs and lamb chops were cold..potatoes were soggy and salty..why do you have 1 cook and 1 person taking the order? No one cared about the wait..we got 1 "sorry" from the host..no complimentary water for waiting nothing..the bartender with the black Mix shirt was rude and didn't care to listen to your order..she told me they didn't have water on the gun dispenser for a cup of water so I'd have to buy a $3 bottle..bathrooms nasty..how could I enjoy myself after all of that? read more

Mix is one of my go to spots. I began frequenting them as Liv for Open Mic Night. I've continued to join them since the revamp. Any given night, you can go in and enjoy a variety of themes from old school to house. TheIr events during St Patty's Day, Movement and Cinco de Mayo are favorites of mine to attend annually. Mix is a great spot. I've enjoyed coming here for a good few years now, from back when it was Liv Resto-Lounge and now as the same owner rebranded it to Mix. This is my go-to spot to come when I want to be out someplace hotter than a laid back bar, but not as crazy as the club. It's the perfect in between. It's small, and the bar fills up quickly. Happy hour time is usually slow, but sometimes my favorite. Easy to grab a bar stool and I can spend a couple hours chatting with my favorite bartender Courtney and the other regulars. When the evening comes is when things pick up. The owner is a renowned DJ herself, DJ Lynda Carter. So you know her bar is going to have great DJs spinning all the time. The music can run electronic at times, which I'm not so into, but most often is an awesome selection of hip hop/r&b that sets a really fun vibe. Tuesdays are open mic night, mostly featuring poets but all talents are represented and welcome. Man, I've seen some crazy talented people there on that microphone Tuesday nights. For a $5 cover it's the best deal in town. Follow Mix's facebook page, they post all the different nights and events they have going on. Occasionally on weekends you might even catch them hosting a "drunk brunch" as well. They don't have their own kitchen but will have it catered in. On a regular basis, they are cool with you bringing in food from next door, the Detroiter bar. Being right in Greektown, Mix is prime walking to a variety of other bars and restaurants, which can make for a fun night. Mix has been one of my go-to bars for years, and I don't see that changing anytime soon! read more

If I could give this place 0 Stars I would. First it is a very small building w/ no AC so it was terribly hot in there. The bartender was VERY rude to me and my friends. Getting loud and disrespectful because she poured too many drinks than what we asked for. On top of that she goes to try to act tough as if she owns the place and like we needed HER. The staff here is very unprofessional and rude and this isn't a place that I would recommend to anyone. The drinks are watered down , no AC, small space and rude bartenders. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I'll never EVER go back to Mix Bricktown. I went with a friend this past Friday and the staff is despicable. While waiting to order a drink a bartender over heard my friend stating that they may need one more pair of hands to help speed up the service. We had been waiting for close to 10 minutes at that time.The nearest bartender over heard and made it a point to be obnoxious and loud; calling my friend out of her name, degrading her and looked for patrons to instigate the situation further. She denied us service while still calling her out of her name and threatened to fight. The bouncer near by suggested we leave instead of insisting his coworker apologize or at the very least calm down. No one helped or stepped in. I've never been so belittled or disrespected in my life. After speaking to other frequent patrons of the bar, I'm told she is known for acting out that way. It's a disgrace for that to be a known fact and she's still able to work there. It gives the otherwise decent space a terrible reputation. Save your money and go somewhere you and your dollars will be respected. Mix isn't it. read more
