Came here for my cousin's birthday party. The crowd was mature as the music flowed for people to dance to and plenty of TV's to catch the games on. The bar maid was top tier.... polite and very proficient at her craft. The kitchen was also in point as we ordered lots of chicken and fries for our party, one friend also has a pork chop that they said was tasty also. Well this was actually my first time walking into this establishment the vibes and this place was amazing, but far as the food it was not it, but I can almost guess why, I notice this place has a old crowd which was nice, but the food was flavorless , I had fried turkey chop which was cook very well with no favor , blackeye peas with no favor at all, the lack of seasoning on the food completely kill the meal, it's like the cook is telling you to add your own seasoning, which that's ok as well, but salt and pepper ain't going to cut it , when it come to seasoning meat it's a must to seasoning meat , I mean the crust on the chips was flavorless , the meat under the crust was flavorless , the black eye peas definitely was a failed attempt, but I can say all the food had potential it just lacked seasoning , the food was screaming for it , my wife had catfish it was fried well , but once again no seasoning but garlic , the cook need to seasoning his food , alittle Cajun blend would of made that fish pop , I never had greens that's overly smoked favor , which had potential but lacked and finally yams , all the right elements it need it , but wasn't sweet , would good but for the vibes yes, but food may not, I think owner need a tasting to understand what the cook is truly lacking . I was prepared to give 5 stars from the time I walked in all the way until I had to deal with the server. My dad ordered a top shelf Long Island that the server forgot about then brought it and it was $47. He asked about the price and she said he was double charged so it would be $36. $37 for a top shelf Long Island is ridiculous for this type of establishment. At the same time I asked for a water that I never got and the smart remark about not having any water with her when she dropped off the drink was unnecessary. Then I go to the bar to get a water and three of the 5 bar tenders/servers are doing something on their phone, talking or texting. For a place that includes gratuity that's absolutely unacceptable that I have to wait until you're done with your phone for service and still tip! The vibe of the place is nice and I would highly recommend as long as you don't need any service. As someone who worked in the service industry I'm all for included gratuity but the work gotta match the top notch tip that's included. read more

I visit Detroit often my mom lives here. I was invited to the Blues Cafe by a good friend this past Tuesday 10/12. This was the best time I've had in a minute. The food was good the music was good too. It's the dancing for me. A mature crowd everyone was pleasant a greeted me like they'd known me for years. This spot is a hidden gem and I highly recommend you visit. Come correct to step, hustle and just have fun with the mature crowd. read more

Met some friends after work for a wind down here on a Thursday. There was live music with great music playing prior to their set. The service wasn't the best. The food made up for it as it was excellent. The lamb chops had a sweet sauce on them that was heavenly. Drinks were great as well. read more

It seems to be a professional establishment. The waitresses sre very attentive. Not fond of the $10 cover on a Friday night, but there is a live band and they are pretty good. This was my first time to experience this venue. I was pleased when I pulled up and I saw security er'where. That alone was a BIG PLUS considering the area. I was there to celebrate with one of my sista girls and to have a great time. The cover wasn't too bad. Again, I was extremely grateful to see more security as while walking in. The DJ was spinning the jams and the ballroomers were on the floor. It was cool, however, I would have loved to hear the live band! The setup in the venue is nice and somewhat elegant with the lighting. Big appreciation for the clean bathroom. Perhaps have a battery air freshener in place so we don't have to interact with others scents. I'll speak a little more about my experience. The margarita that I ordered was extremely weak. The hosts were accommodating. I didn't order food. But I was told it was delicious. I did grab a piece of my sista girl cornbread and it was pretty tasty. Overall, I give my experience 4 out of 5. Keep up the good work. I felt safe and enjoyed my grow folks time. I plan to visit when the live band is playing. Hopefully, I will need to edit this 4-star to a 5-star! read more

This is a wonderful place to eat and dance. I ballroom and step dance here every Thursday evenings from 6pm-11pm. They will have day dance on Tuesdays from 12pm-4pm beginning September 7,2021. There is always plenty of security inside and out. It is beautiful inside with chandeliers, clean carpet, booths and tables & chairs. The staff is very professional and friendly. The food is excellent. The owner and manager are very friendly and caring however firm in managing this wonderful Detroit Club. read more

This is from September/2017: First time going, and very nice and laid back place, and spacious. Staff were friendly and attentive. Great music, and great food! Security was thick inside and outside. Glad I found a place east close to where I live, opposed to driving downtown or always driving west for the same type of venue. I definitely will be coming back soon. read more

I ordered the meatloaf dinner and it was cold, hard, and still pink in the middle. They forgot my peach cobbler. The macaroni and cheese was cold and oily. The mashed potato's taste like instant potato's from a box. I would usually give a restaurant a second chance, however the food was so horrible that I will can honestly say that I will literally never go to this place again. read more

A friend was having a party here on a Sunday night. I found out last minute that I wouldn't be able to make it. I contacted the restaurant to request to purchase a bottle of wine and some appetizers to be sent to their table. **this is not an unusual request! I've done this many times at many different establishments! However, the request was treated as if I asked them to find and cook brontosaurus eggs. I was informed that I could have only done that thru their catering menu ahead of time. When I asked if the party had ordered from catering or were they ordering from the menu. She told me they were ordering from the menu. But since I wasn't in the building I could not order anything for them, and before I could say another word, I was hung up on. I try very very hard to patronize and support black businesses, however, this type of treatment when it come to customers who are literally trying to give you money is so discouraging. I was truly looking forward to trying out this establishment, but, my enthusiasm has definitely soured. I doubt I'll ever go now. read more

Really nice spot. I came on a Friday night. Nice live band and a lot of birthday parties. Nice and spacious!!!!!! Food over all was delish!! I would definitely recommend this spot to others and would come back. This spot is great if you like noise and just want to have a good time!! Definitely bring a group of friends. Nice place. Drink prices were great. Nice music but was really to loud. Couldn't have a conversation with the person next to me without yelling in their ear. If you can't mix and mingle with people because you can't hear what they are saying, what's the use in going to a place like this. read more
