Erica is amazing! I kept telling her over and over again that I was SO happy I found her lol! It's not easy moving to a new city and finding a new stylist, one who you know is always going to deliver and is as caring and sweet and passionate about her work as she is. I admired her advice about hair care; Inspire of my good experience, when she asked for $180 just for the weave removal my mouth dropped. I did say that's a bit expensive and her response was, "in your opinion". I paid her and left. She lost a person that could have been a long time client. Miss Erica is a gem she talks to you not at you to find out what you want and what will make you happy, I have not had braids in over 25yrs because I had Lox. I wasn't sure if I was going to find anyone as professional and talented as my previous stylist and again yelp came to the rescue. After much research I found Hair by Erica. The website she uses to book appointments made it so easy to find the right date and time for me. The salon was easy enough to find. I was a few minutes early and we started right away. She was very gentle with her braiding, I didn't feel a thing. The only leave out I had was on top of my head. It took a total of 4 hrs to complete. It was twice as long as what I was use to but it was alright because we spent the time talking and sharing stories. At the end I was loving the hair and the work she did. I met Erica a few years ago, and primarily went to her for hair weaves. I had a half shaved haircut and I had a gorgeous long weave to go with it. Nicely laid, never came loose. I wish I had come with better quality hair because I had to take it out sooner than I wanted. In Jan. 2014 Erica cut off my damaged, relaxed ends so I could grow out my natural curly hair. PERFECT cut because I had no stray scraggly ends! My hair was full, curly, and 2 inches long, she retained all of my new growth and that was awesome! I moved away and unfortunately had an awful experience with a stylist who accidentally turned my hair yellow in an attempt to go blonde, but I came all the way back to Erica who fixed the other stylist's mistake that had me in tears. She evened my hair out to a nice light brown. Yesterday I went in to go red! A nice deep burgundy red. I know red is very tricky because there are so many shades. The color is PERFECT, my hair's very shiny, I keep staring at it in the mirror, I can't get over how beautiful it looks, and my forehead, ears and neck aren't red. After experiencing some breakage, I decided to get my VERY first weave in order to give my hair a bit of a rest. After reading the other reviews, I picked Ms. Erica and I am ever so glad I did. She's the best stylist I've ever visited and I've gone through quite a few. My appointment was for 12, but I arrived at 11:15 because it was snowing like crazy and I didn't want to be late. She was outside shoveling her walk way. Gotta love a responsible owner. She had just finished her last client and was more than happy to take me early and got right down to business. I had my hair done by Erica during Hurricane Sandy. She was nice and accommodating, even offering me to sleep at her place until it was over if necessary. Now on to what matters-THE HAIR. She has natural hair, so she is aware of how to take care of natural hair. I got a cornrow, and two strand twist hairstyle with hair added. I didn't have to take a motrin before and after like when I go to other hair braiders, but its still neat and I can tell the cornrows will stay for a while. She moisturized my scalp and treated my hair like I was tender-headed before I even told her. The only thing I can say a few days sown the line is that the twists are unraveling a bit. She braided my natural hair and it did not hurt (which is rare for me because I am very tender headed). The entire process took less than 3 hours, and my hair looks fabulous.
