The stump of the cherry tree

I worked with Mike, who was a nice guy and assured me he had been in the business for many years and knew what he was doing. We went over the work to be done in my backyard in detail. No trimming was to be done except for a butterfly bush and trimming a hydrangea back from the fence and walkway. Several dead branches were to be removed from a flowering cherry tree in an attempt to see if it would make a come back. The bulk of the work to be done was a spring clean up. After the job was done, I was sickened to find that the cherry tree had been cut down to a stump, two azaleas removed for no reason, and all the remaining azaleas cut into ugly lollypop shapes. Too bad for me they weren't supposed to be trimmed at all. The hydrangea and a neighboring honeysuckle look like they were hacked with a machete. Mike had no comment about the botched job, but he did reduce the bill by 20%. That discount doesn't even cover the cost of a new cherry tree. But no amount of money can bring back the cherry tree I loved, restore the missing azaleas or beautify the ugly mess in my backyard.

I can't say Thank You enough for transforming my backyard into a beautiful place I can enjoy. Mike was great, everything he promised was done in timely manner. His crew was great and respectful. Carlos and the guys did an amazing job, a lot of attention to small details. I highly recommend Miz's Landscaping! THANK YOU MIKE!!!

I told Ken what I wanted and he said he could turn our property into the envy of the neighborhood. I was skeptical at first. I needed flowers and shrubs. The side and rear of the house were just ugly dirt and gravel. I wanted a side patio of pavers and rear walkway to cover up the dirt and gravel on the sides of the house. A walkway from the rear walkway to the rear deck. There was a shed with a cement walkway that had to be removed. This was no small task. They tore down the shed and cement walkway and cleared out and leveled out the rear yard. They had to remove over 20 yards of dirt and rocks. They had to move a small tree from the middle of the yard to the corner. They planted new flowers and shrubs with existing ones put down new sod . Then install all the hardscape. It was quite a task. When it finally was finished I couldn't believe it was the same property. Now when buyers come to see the house the first thing they look at is the beautiful new yard. Ken and his crew at Artistic Bamboo did an incredible job. I would highly recommend them for all your needs. Thanks Ken

Modern Lawn Service has provided excellent service to our residential location for many years. Mr…read more Sweeney is a highly regarded member of the Somerset community. I particularly trust his judgement regarding whether to mow during the dry season. I see other lawns in the neighborhood burned and the grass killed because they are mowed in adverse conditions. He offers additional seasonal services for special projects and leaf clearing. He is easy to reach and always quickly responds to phone calls or emails. His team is polite and courteous and work very efficiently to get the job done. He works by contract so we know the cost at the beginning of the season. His rates are very competitive. They do half tailed work. They were on my property 7 mins (.25 acre) from out of truck to back in truck. Most of the time no trimming or blowing of debris. I confronted the owner Bruce/Sean whatever him real name is, and he nodded and yes'd me to death, but service did not get any better. Worse for that matter. I let him know that I sold my house and would be stopping the service. He decided after I already paid for the full month just to stop showing up completely. He stiffed me out of a weeks service. Then had the nerve to send the next months pre-billing. Leave this company alone if you want a good job to be done and not get ripped off.

The reason why I wouldn't recommend this company is the quality of their support is subpar. Many of the plantings died within the first year even though they get watered daily. The trees don't grow, whereas trees we bought from other landscaping companies in the area are already taller than our house. The patio has loose pavers and the low voltage lighting doesn't work everywhere. Some lights work, others don't. When I asked about the lights, they said it's a supplier issue from China, however they've installed other patios in our neighborhood with lights. I guess it's only a supplier issue for warranty issues and not new installs. The issue with the loose pavers however is the reason I'm writing this review. When I called to asked them to come out and take a look, they told me they can't take support calls like this over the phone instead I would need to email them. I don't understand how a company that I paid thousands of dollars to for a patio won't talk to me on the phone. I now have to wait days for a reply via email. Ridiculous Also, they are going to reply to this review asking me to call them and speak to management. That's a waste of time as when I call the person on the phone will say "send us an email". Terrible.
