We are disappointed in the result and believe that we were overcharged. We are still waiting for a refund for an overpayment error of the final check. We were told that the job would take 5 or 6 days. Based on a regular working day of 7 to 8 hours, the contracted price was high, but based on a recommendation, we hired DC Painting. Danny and his son were never here more than 5 hours/day. When we saw that two sides of the barn were "prepped and primed" in 5 hours, we asked how the price had been determined. Hourly? Square footage? No satisfactory answer was given. Instead, Danny said he tells anyone who asks his hourly rate to find another painter. We wish we had. We have nothing against a business making a profit, but for the 54 hours DC Painting was here, we were charged $111/ hour for each painter, more than a master painter is expected to make in the state of Connecticut. Prep work was minimal at best. Areas of the barn siding that should have been sanded weren't. Areas of the barn siding are missing stain. The window was not glazed, and the paint was not removed from the panes of glass after the paint dried. We were charged an additional $200 for the window. Perhaps if Danny didn't "paint three to four times faster than other painters," as he told us, we would have been more satisfied with the result. The one star is for the fact that they are polite and neat.
