At first, he said he would cancel the permit and return the deposit minus the permit fee. But two weeks later, he changed his story and said he would only return around $1,300--claiming the rest was for his "wasted time." No work was ever done, and no receipts were provided for the charges he invented after the fact.

Once we agreed on the scope of work, I was sent a final estimate, which I signed. Tim texted me and said I could provide a 1/3 deposit via a bank ACH deposit. I said I'd like to pay by credit card. He said I would be charged a 3.5% fee if I use a credit card. I said I didn't want to pay a fee and would pay by check. He said I could partially pay by credit card. I repeated I wasn't going to pay a 3.5% fee and mentioned MA General Laws Chapter 140D, Section 28A--businesses cannot charge a credit card fee. He texted back that we should part ways and he would not do the project. I was surprised he got so wound up because I'd said early on in the text exchange that I would pay by check. It seems that Tim is a bit of a hot head, and he left me hanging. You may want to think twice before calling Sexton. There are plenty of other roofers you can spend your hard-earned money with who will treat you with professional courtesy.

(I should mention this is an aging tenant who was unable to tolerate the dripping of the leak or the fear that the ceiling would cave in while they slept). In desperation, I called twenty roofers. Several got back, but said they would only do repairs on roofs they had installed. The guy who repairs my roof was unable to locate the leak. Scott, the owner of Supreme, got right back to me. Although they rarely do residential jobs, when I explained the situation with the aging tenant, he came by on a SUNDAY afternoon to take a look and sent two of his crew that week to make a temporary repair. NO CHARGE. When the temp repair didn't hold, he sent two of his crew to make the necessary repair. Scott as well as Chet and Mike were incredibly helpful. They requested a 1/3 deposit that could not be paid electronically. This should have been my first clue. Then it took a month for the window to arrive. They then scheduled and showed up with a regular window. And they of course ripped out the existing window before checking. So I had to have the wrong window installed and then wait six weeks for the correct panes to arrive. Then spend two weeks going back and forth to schedule a new installation date. Then they flew in and out on the date and I finally had my window. And it took only 10 minutes following the job being finished before someone showed up from the company and demanded payment. Not throughout the whole process was anything given emphasis until it was time for them to be paid. Avoid at all costs.

All the shingles needed to be removed, old gutter, etc. I chose this company because of their long years in the community doing home improvements. A young man came out and we went over what needed to be done. A quote was sent to me, and date to start noted. They stripped the house shingles and took gutters off and began insulating, installing new siding and a vendor of theirs created and installed new gutters. Shutters for 3 windows were installed ( ordered 6 sets but their supplier only had 3). the house looked beautiful after the work was done, and they finished about week late but in time for me to attend to a medical matter. Later that year (2020) my handyman noted that the new gutters he was trying to clean of leaves, had a tighter access area as the roof overhung the gutters now by 3". Not a problem ever before. I consulted a roofer who climbed up looked at it and measured the roof shingles overhanging roof to 3-3 1/2". I called Al Beaulieu to advise and sent photos so that he could see the issue. I said this needs to be fixed. He said your roofer did a bad job, we are not responsible. I said I bought the house with the new roof on it, so have no relationship with that roofer. I said I should have been made aware that the roof will overhang the gutters 3+ inches BEFORE the gutters were put on... I would have upgraded to 6" gutters to accommodate. I spent almost $20,000 with Beaulieu on this job and I have no additional funds to repair this and I should not have to bear the cost of correcting the gutter job they did. He refuses to upgrade the gutter at his expense. I did not read previous reviews on YELP about Beaulieu and am sorry I did not. I thought they had years of experience and a good reputation. I strongly advise going elsewhere.
