Solid pizza and good salads. I've only ever had take out from MJ's. Staff is always very friendly and quick. Pizzas are large and good amounts of cheese and toppings. Sam and I ordered a large supreme. Given the amount of toppings a medium would have been more than sufficient for the two of us. Starting with the good things I experienced at MJs: The restaurant reminded me of a classic college pizza joint. The look and feel reminded me of years of cheap pizza. The supreme had a TON of toppings. You'll definitely get your bang for your buck with the amount of food for the large at least. The Bad: the middle of the pizza was overly soggy and couldn't hold it self up. Sometimes when people hear supreme they hear our in the olives and that's what MJs did. The alight: you cannot order a half and half specialty pizza. A little annoying but I get it if you're really busy it can cause errors. But if you're slow like they appeared to be tonight it seems like an easy accommodation a lot of places will make. Overall there are better pizza joints in Lakeland. read more

We love MJs!! Let's be honest, great pizza is difficult to come by in Florida. We are thrilled when we find a place that is a step above everyone else. MJ's is just a little place in a tiny strip mall on Edgewood (they also have a second location in Winter Haven). We've never dined in, but we have stopped in for carry out. There's plenty of space and seating inside. Order at the counter and they'll call you when it's ready. Easy peasy. There's a giant menu posted, but I'd recommend taking a look at the paper menu as there does seem to be some differences. Pizza is always hot and fresh and delicious. The folks are happy to customize pizzas however you need them, as well. I need cheese/dairy free and they're always very accommodating. But what I really want to highlight here are those wings!! Holy moly, they're awesome and you get a ton! To clarify, I'm referring to the boneless wings. The order comes by the pound and one pound is plenty! These things are so amazing! Currently, a pound of boneless wings (in your choice of sauce) is $9.99. Stop in and give them a try. Or, order online for pick up or delivery (I believe through one of the delivery services). I ordered from MJ's last night and I wasn't expecting much. I ordered two large pizzas. The first was a white spinach ricotta pizza. The other was a steak pizza. When hubby brought them home the first thing that surprised me was the size of the pizza. It was definitely New York style. The first date was phenomenal!!! Fresh garlic, mozzarella, spinach and ricotta cheese. Perfectly cooked. The steak pizza had steak, green pepper, tomato, onion, mushrooms, and mozzarella. My hubby and son loved them. We had honey bbq wings and a cheese calzone. Food was pretty good and hot. They have the orange hi c drink that McDonald's used to sell. So that was pretty neat. Great experience, great customer service. Our family got pizzas, calzones, garlic knots, cannoli, and baklava. Everything was delicious. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that the xalzobes had too much cheese. I love cheese but there was about 1/2" or more of mozzarella cheese and it made it too rich. Tall, blond girl who works there is NOT a very courteous, friendly employee. Barely talks and usually won't greet you unless you speak first. An ATTITUDE if you ask me. Once, my cousin handed her a $7 tip for like a $30 sit in meal, she never said thank you, nothing. Very poor manners. Sometimes ruins what "could" have been a nice visit. Have a serious chat with her Mike , for real ! She's the type of person that'll cause businesses to lose money and you'll never know about it because so few people will speak up. This NY style pizza, wing & Mediterranean place is located in the strip next to Gigi's Korean Market. Painted bright red, seats 30. Great taste, price & friendliness. They run a $5, 2 cheese slice/drink special (or $6 for topped slices). I found the dough ever-so New Yorkishly thin, soft, fresh and delicious--one of those places where you WANT to eat the crust. By the slice, 6+ pies on the counter to warm up. I ordered a side of 6 grape leaves to go. Their tabouleh salad ($5) is wonderfully minty. They also have falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, gyros. Though "Mediterranean" cuisine includes many countries, I love the fact theirs is Pakistani and puts a delicious slant to these yummy foods. (Fantastic to see Lakeland enlarging its regional tastes.) Many items on the menu (wings, calzones, baked ziti, deep dish, wraps, salads, subs). Many dishes under $8, making it a true "neighborhood place". It's open 11 to 10 six days (closed Mondays)! They deliver locally. 6/2016 Add great Philly cheesesteak, fresh salads & a dozen wings. I enjoyed the garlic parmesan and the honey bbq sauces. I want to start out saying that I'm always uncomfortable reviewing local places because they really rely on good word of mouth to stay open. That being said, the pizza from here was - not bad. I've had worse, but I've also definitely had better - in Lakeland. The pizza was pretty greasy (now I like a greasy pizza, but), and there was something off about the crust. I feel the best pizza in Lakeland is Il Forno (Yes, over Palace Pizza), so your opinion of this may vary. And Il Forno is closer to me than this place is, so I don't think I will be going back. If this is the closest pizza shop to you you could do a lot worse than getting a pie here. My biggest concern was the wait. I placed an order over the phone at 4:30, was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I got there at 4:50. My pizza was not done. I waited another 10 minutes to get it. There was one family inside the restaurant sitting down. There's no reason for the pizza to not be ready, sorry. read more

So when I was out on a walk I was hungry so I looked up the nearest pizza place and MJ's popped up. When I looked on the menu it had a ton of stuff other than pizza. It all looked good, but I decided to get a pepperoni pizza and it was delicious! My one dislike was that the pizza was dripping everywhere and it was HOT. It burned my mouth, but it was amazing. Came here today by word of mouth because I love New York Style pizzas and I enjoy going to non-franchise establishments. On this trip, I took my mother who is from New York and loves pizza as much as I do. When you first walk in you can definitely tell it's a family owned restaurant and they are starting out and it excites me to know that! So if you are expecting a franchise type feel you'll be disappointed. I think the more business they get, they will be able to establish themselves better. We ordered a large sausage pizza and garlic knots. I enjoyed the garlic knots, as they were crispy on the outside and very moist and flaky on the inside. I would definitely recommend asking for a side of oil though (my only recommendation to the business) As for the pizza, I absolutely enjoyed it. Each part of the pizza (sauce, cheese, bread) complimented each other and made it very flavorful. My mother had recommended more sauce (her fave part) but after a while she said she liked it as it is. Amazing wings some of the best I've had in lakeland hands down with they had a mango habanero wing sauce but the hot garlic is killer!!

Well sad to say but only 1 star because of how rude the management was to us when we came in 1 hour before closing. He complained about how long it was going to take to make the food and that we wouldn't have time to sit and eat in his dinning room because he was closing the doors exactly at 10pm and that we should take it to go and we explained to him we were remodeling our house so we didn't have a place to eat in our house, he obviously didn't care and lost a good customer because it's right around the corner from our home and we would have come there a lot if we liked it. read more
