And then there's my 7 year old daughter who refuses to do any sports, but she happily heads to tennis with Becky each week. She even told me last week that Becky definitely deserves 5 stars on Yelp, which is probably the reason I'm finally getting around to writing this review! Becky is fun and patient with the kids. She does 30 minutes with the my son and his friends, followed up with 30 minutes with my daughter and her friends. It's a fast lesson, but she gets a lot of tennis in during a short time It's impressive to see how the kids have progressed over the year. They are actually hitting the ball over the net now...and had a consistent rally the past few weeks. While Becky was on maternity leave months ago we signed the kids up for tennis at AC Nielsen and I find this to be a much better experience. The facility itself is nice- mostly lots of indoor tennis courts, but also a few outdoor ones as well, which we haven't been so lucky to see this cold spring. There's a small waiting room, but the kids not playing tennis usually just run around the other side of the court while Becky teaches. There's plenty of parking right outside and it's conveniently (or maybe not conveniently) across the street from Target. We've only had private lessons with Becky here, but I've heard good things about their basketball and tennis camps so may sign my son up for one of those in the future. And I may even brush the dust off my tennis racquet and take an adult lesson at some point too.

It seems to be easier to get a court here than some of the other nearby clubs (ex: North Shore Racquet Club) and it's always pretty quiet. In fact, there's many Friday mornings (during this pandemic) where we've been lucky enough to have the club to ourselves. The billing system is a little confusing. They invoice you and if you do a semi-private lesson with a few kids they can't seem to split the cost. Sometimes they invoice me and sometimes my son's friend so there's lot of consistency. We figure it out between us, but would be great to just pay for half the lesson each week, which doesn't seem to be an issue at any other club. For example, I take a lesson at Northbrook Racquet Club with 2 other friends and they split the cost between us at the front desk. Overall, been pleased w/ their covid protocols from masks to hand sanitizer at the front. It's also an easy drive from our house in Glencoe. I haven't taken any of their classes or from any other instructors, but Maria herself is 5 stars.

Due…read moreto their limited classes and loooong waitlists they wanted to supplement elsewhere and we had heard great things about Glenbrook Racquet Club. We set up an eval for my 2 oldest kids (thanks Beth) and they were placed in classes. They find the classes to be easier than North Shore Racquet Club, which may be a leveling thing. They do like that they are small classes and say that the instructors are all great. They've also been doing privates with Mo, who is such an amazing instructor. I watched my son's lesson one day and was so impressed with the feedback he was getting and he has a really fun, positive attitude too. I'm doing a lot of outdoor tennis right now thanks to this gorgeous Chicago fall we are enjoying, but when it's time to hit the indoor courts I may see if Mo has time for me too! They have agility classes here too, which I think look amazing. I've been trying to convince my kids to try them, but so far they just want to play tennis. The front desk can be slow with returning emails and they don't always answer the phone, which can be difficult when it comes to scheduling makeups, etc. They do have a makeup email alias, but I"ve yet to get a response when I've emailed it and usually just call until someone picks up. Overall, it's a great club and I can see why it has such a good reputation!
