The weather channel was playing and there were 4 adults sitting in the room. One of the men in the room said he trust tire mart and he has been coming here 25 years. I went in on Saturday, August 15, 2026, knowing that I needed an oil change, oil filter, and engine air filter. I had also gone a little over on my air filter, and my check engine light had recently come on. I had already checked my truck on the diagnostic machine at work and knew everything was okay--the air filter was simply due to be changed. Honestly, I went in expecting that I might get the usual upsell: someone telling me I needed a diagnostic test, additional services, or repairs that I didn't actually need. That never happened. The young man who helped me, Ethan, was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and honest. He checked my A/C cabin filter, showed it to me, and explained that it should be replaced. I said, "Okay, let's get it done." And that was it. He never once tried to upsell me on anything else. I got my keys and left. I drove to pick up my daughter, and after the truck completed its normal reset, the check engine light went off--just as I knew it would. They helped us get the car unlocked, made multiple trips to the parts store, and even stayed late past closing on a Sunday evening just so we could get back on the road and make it home that night. They were so patient and kind with us -- especially with our kids -- which meant more than they probably realize during such a stressful day. What really surprised me was the bill at the end. With all the extra effort and the situation we were in, they absolutely could have charged a fortune. Instead, the price was more than fair and honestly much less than I expected. I had an interesting experience. Let me tell you about it. I called and asked if, I could drop off my SUV. He said, they are already full. He offered to get me in at 8am or in the afternoon the next day. I said, I'd be there in the afternoon. I went up there and he said, they were full, then another guy said , they were full too. So, that left me w the impression they didn't want to do it that day. I decided, I wouldn't push it but, I did let one of the guys know. He told me to come back at 3ish. I did and he wasn't there but the other guy took care of it. There was one other car ahead of me and then he said , he would get to my vehicle and it would take 45m. He timed it perfectly. I was thankful about his honesty regarding wait time and completing the Oil Change in 45. The waiting room is small with a few chairs inside and is not that cool. It may be because it's a window ac. Also,They have not paid their Netflix account so, you can't watch Netflix but they have Tubi and Roku. There was a Nigerian lady talking on speaker phone and another guy complaining about how he should have been informed about the services before being charged. I agree w him. I brought it to the service advisor's attention that, I may not need an Oil change. I just assumed so because, my maintenance light was on. He said, he would check it . I expected him to explain why it needed to be changed or show me but, he didn't? He changed it and I found out, it didn't need to be changed. My oil is changed every 10k miles. I didn't receive a receipt either. I don't know what kind of oil was used, how many qts were used. He also removed my oil reminder stickers wo asking. I wanted those for my records. He also, messed with my dimmer knob so my Control Panel was dim. Ugg, so uncomfortable. The Service Advisor was knowledgeable with Groupon too that's a plus. Their Internet was slow so, I had to go outside to redeem by Groupon. Also, the parking lot is pretty full so space can be tight. The music is cranked up load in the shop too. I exited the freeway and pulled into a random parking lot checking them out. They looked fine but I was unsure. I looked across the street and I saw Red Oak Auto Repair and I pulled in right after they opened and I explained what was going on and they checked every tire, offered me some water and coffee, and they got me together. Confirmed that it was a censor that was malfunctioning but still give me a little more air than what was required just in case there was leak or something since I was driving far. They were so kind. Red Oak Auto Repair Center is a beautiful new limestone and red brick building on Ovilla Road near where we live in Glenn Heights. They've been open a few months and we decided to drop by and present our truck's problem. We had been told that the EGR valve and gasket needed replaced and our usual oil change and simple repairs place would be unable to do it. We were greeted immediately by a friendly young man who introduced himself as Mo. Mo listened, understood what another place had to say about the issue and offered to do a free diagnostic while we waited. I have to say that the waiting area is more like a living room than your standard waiting area. There are two distinct areas. One side has a coffee bar with snacks and a refrigerator with drinks and water. The unisex restroom is on that side in the corner. There's a four kettle chair seating group with a table, rug and a wall TV. Across the room is a comfy long couch and two chair set with tables, large area rug and a wall TV. The light green walls were a wonderful change from automotive or industrial design and there was lots of natural light. Just a lovely airy welcoming room. We had showed up somewhere around closing time not knowing really that they would start on the repair. They choose to and in the end, we waited until they closed. They had to go buy a part and on the Ram 2006, the part was very difficult to get to and then get out, as it was rusted in place. Mo kept us aware of everything as it developed and offered to drive us home and bring the truck to us after the repair was done in the morning. We lived but a few miles away. The repair with tax, labor and parts was $324.75. They worked hard on this repair. This truck has never been housed in a garage. Dodge Rams live long but this is the second engine. It's been awhile since we have had a repair other than A/C or a turn signal. Given what Red Oak Auto Repair did for us and the great rapport we established, I can say we'll definitely be back!
