The place facility was clean. Well lit smelled great. The layout of the displays were aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I was greeted with a smile and welcomed right as I entered. The bathroom was clean tidy. The soap, toilet paper and hand paper towels filled. I really enjoyed the alcohol selection of both beer and wine. What I was most shocked about was judging them from the parking lot. So happy I went in and am writing this review. If you get a chance to stop for gas, snack and alcohol please do.

So on our way back, in this pandemic, I needed an out of the way gas station and found it at M55 on the West end of Cadillac: Thirsty's! I rushed in the door doing the pee per dance but I was overwhelmed by the smell of ice cream and waffle cones. I asked where the commode was and what ice cream they carried (Ashby's, Hudsonville?) and the man answered "Homemade!" I'm like homemade? After relieving myself in the clean bathroom, I sauntered toward the parlor area and WOW! So many flavors.....basics like chocolate and vanilla bean, butter pecan, but some interesting ones like Kat Nip, which is a malt flavored ice cream with bits of Kit Kat bars in it, Creme Brûlée which is my absolute favorite, and much more! The waffle cones are their own recipe and they curl up the ends so the cone won't dribble too early. The service was EPIC, the social distancing and mask wearing was spot on and I truly feel like this experience is what has been missing from my life for the past 56 years. I'm sold and will make the effort to drive the extra couple of miles here from downtown Cadillac when I go shopping. Can't recommend this enough! Oh, and they sell quarts of the ice cream to take home too!

After searching the greater Detroit area and coming up empty handed, I expanded our search. It is then that I found and got connected to Fox Toyota of Cadillac (over 3 hours from where we live). I found that they would be receiving one that met our requirements with exterior color, interior color and options. I reached out to Donavan Simmons a sale associate there to begin communication on the Grand Highlander. I can gladly say that he & the whole dealership made the experience a great one! I expressed to Donavan that we were usual Chrysler customers (my father-in-law worked for them) and my wife had some reservations about the purchase of our first Toyota. I also expressed that I had usually bought cars through a friend where there were NO stereotypical "salesman" tricks. I can say Donavan was able to reassure my wife that this would be a great choice without being pushy or arrogant. He answered all her questions in a way that made her very comfortable. When it came to finalizing the deal there were no "salesman" tricks. I had a vehicle to trade in, and Donavan was able to give me a reasonable price for the vehicle with pictures and providing him some information (mind you we lived over 3 hours away). He also promised that once the vehicle got to him in person, he "should" be able to increase that offer. True to his word he and Fox Toyota increased the trade in value by $500.00. As a former Assistant Customer Service manage with a large grocery chain, I can tell you Donavan and Fox Toyota treated my wife and I exactly how customers should be treated fair, open and honestly. I can recommend Fox Toyota of Cadillac without any reservations!

D&W used to service transmissions for a small mechanic shop I worked at in Leelanau county, so I've seen them do over 40 transmissions in my short time as a mechanic. We never had a problem with any of their work! Not a single tranny, and I'd be willing to bet that's the norm for Wayne and the D&W crew. So now, when the trans in my plow truck finally had had enough, I confidently took it to D&W. Wayne took me for a diagnostic cruise in my truck so he could explain what was happening and what would have to be done for repairs. Even though all of the sales personal were great, they would tell us that they would get back with us on our questions, they never did. That is until we went to Fox Ford in Cadillac and worked with Howard Canfield. Not only did he answer our questions he would get the answers for us if he couldn't directly answer there. During the entire process, not once did I feel pressured to buy right away. He gave us the space to talk and discuss the purchase, and even encouraged us to go home, talk it over, and then when we were ready, to come back in--if we wanted. Once we decided to go with our 2024 Ford F-150, he talked to us about the truck how all the bells and whistles worked. Then when it came time for the unenviable "up sale," he didn't push it. He explained what they were and the benefits of having them added on. He never pushed it and even told us that if we didn't want them, that it would be no problem. Once we did purchase it, Howard explained how everything worked, and then told me that once I get my boat off of the trailer, to bring the trailer back in and he would take some time and help me get all the stickers in the correct place so that I could use the system to help back up trailers! I can tell you this, the next time that we are looking at buying a new car our first and only stop will be at Fox Ford in Cadillac, and we will be working directly with Howard Canfield.
