I highly recommend this Mobil for all of your car repair needs. Donny and his mechanics are competent, fast, fair & friendly ! I would give this location 5 stars if it were not for the extremely rude cashier. I don't know if she is racist or just needs some lessons in good manners. If she were my employee, I would fire her immediately. She is a very poor representation of the Mobil Trademark nationwide. For example, I paid for my gas with a Mobil gift card. After using all of the money on the card, I asked her if she could please throw it away. She snapped at me and told me the trash is outside and I would have to go out there to throw my empty card away. The "Stink Eye" she gave me while paying for my car repair was entirely rude, unprofessional & unfriendly. I got ripped off at this gas station, be careful and do not patronize this gas station. I was talking with a friend at the pumps forgot to pump my gas or and when I went back in after I drove away and came back the clerk said that somebody else had put my gas in their tank and didn't wanna give me the refund or put gas back on the tank! Great service, they did a smog check this morning at 8am taking less than 20 minutes. By the time I reached home an hour later, DMV had already received their report and I was able to renew my registration so quickly. So happy we have this great service in north Palm Springs. Went to get a smog test there 2 years ago, they found a part needed changing in the carburetor of my truck, they replaced it, the truck passed smog and it ran better than it ever had. They said there is another part that needs replacing but it could wait until next time. They were friendly and very helpful. This year, there was new staff who didn't seem to want to help me. The truck didn't pass smog, they said they couldn't fix it because they don't have the tools to work on carburetors. Had I known they would not correct the problem, I would have gone to a shop that would. This was a complete waste of money. This shop should not be listed with AAA as a repair shop. It is for smog tests only. I will never go back and I will let AAA know to change their classification of this shop to Smog only. read more

Buyer beware, and you may want to read some of the other reviews before you have your car serviced at this garage. Smog Test - Guy working on desk is somewhat dismissive and uncaring to customers. While picking up my car after the smog check he didn't say anything. I asked if my car passed the test. He replied a flat "NO!". That's it, no explanation, no instructions on what to do, no "thank you for coming here", no nothing. I asked what I'm suppose to do. He replied "go to the DMV". But he would not develop. I had to keep asking questions: ME: My registration is expired, do you mean go to DMV for an extension then? HIM: Yes. ME: And then how do I get smog certified? HIM: You have to drive your car. ME: Drive it? What do you mean? Drive it ... for how long or how many miles? HIM: I don't know. ME: You don't know? HIM: Well it depends, every car is different. ME: The thing is I don't want to keep getting smog tests and paying for them while the car does not pass. I kept going back as he said he had a way of telling using a small device if it was going to pass or not. After driving it a couple hundred miles he tested it with the small device, came back and said: HIM: You're good to go. ME: What do you mean? HIM: You're good to go. ME: Soooooooooo, how does the DMV know that I'm certified then? HIM: Well, you have to do a smog test. ME: Well that's why I came here in the first place. I need to get my car certified but you're telling me I'm 'Good to Go'? Why would you tell me that? HIM: Ok well do you want to make an appointment for the smog check then? ME: Well of course. Surprisingly I kept my cool. I then cleared my morning schedule... again! , took the car in ..... again! During that inspection he came back and said, "sorry, something is wrong with our machine, you'll have to reschedule. At this point I just took a deep breathe and smiled. I made ... another! appointment for the next day. When the car actually passed the inspection, again he said "you're good to go". There was no other feedback ... nothing! I drove my car for a couple of days and took it back as it kept vibrating. I communicated to the same worker there may have been something lose because my car was vibrating. HIM: Well it's your water pump. ME: My water pump? HIM: Yes, see? It's broken down there, you need to get it fixed. ME: Well why didn't you tell me this when I picked up my car? HIM: (response with arrogance) It's on your invoice. ME: Are you kidding me? Knowing that my car could break down and cause extensive damage you didn't tell me verbally when I picked up the car? HIM: (again with arrogance) It's on your invoice, read your invoice. I walked out of there, drove to Cathedral City to my mechanic and the water pump broke fully and caused damage to my radiator, hoses and other parts, my total bill for repairs was $2,500.00. I filed a complaint at the Bureau of Automotive, they basically told me the employee got a slap on the wrist and the owner didn't really give a hoot. Awful people, awful business. read more

My car blew a head gasket on Highway 10 and it needed to be towed to the nearest Auto shop. I had the tow truck take me to a shop in a safe part of town as I would be there for a while which happened to be Yousef's Service Center. When I picked up my car week later, I was told it runs "beautifully." Unfortunately, that was not the case. I made it back to LA but I had to have an additional $800 of repair work done on my car - work that should have been done by Yousef's Service Center. I am glad I made it back to Los Angeles, but I would not go back to this mechanic if I had a choice. read more

My car leaked all its coolant partway up a mountain in 110 degree heat in Palm Springs last weekend, and I was left to the mercy of the towtruck driver as to where my car would go. Luckily for me, he towed my car to Yousef's, which turned out to be the busiest tiny service center I've ever seen. Not only that, but its probably the first honest mechanics I've met ever. They looked at my car, refilled the coolant, and couldn't find any leaks. So they drove my car back up that mountain, to see if they could make it leak again. It didn't, so they called and told me there was nothing wrong, and charged me nothing for the effort...I drove it back to San Diego the next day, and I think they were right! read more

Had tire pressure issue on our BMW. White lady pulls in with same issue and the white female manager assists her. We ask for assistance and she says, "You don't know how to do it yourself? There was a constant leak from the new power steering pump they installed Dec 31,2015. It took several returns and 19 days to get it right. David repaired it today & said he thinks it's ok. New pump moans & vibrates. It's been a nightmare. 1/26. Nightmare continues. Engine light back on from other repair on Dec 31. read more

I had a very positive experience with Yousef's. Our family car died on the way to Palm Springs. Over heated and cracked the head block. Yousef's tested the block and let us know we couldn't save the engine and being it was an old car, it was too expensive to repair. They were kind enough to store the car while we made arrangements to dispose of the vehicle. This process took several days. The only charge: 49 bucks to test the engine and head block. I really appreciate their help and friendliness throughout this unfortunate situation. read more

My car broke down in Desert Hot Springs and had AAA haul my car in to the closest mechanic which just happened to be this Mobil station. I was very apprehensive to have my car repaired at a gas station since I don't think of them as qualified as other car shops, but they not only had my car repaired in a few hours (a new alternator), but the price was excellent as well. The service manager, John, gave me the choice to use a brand new alternator or a remanufactured one. Since the price on the remanufactured one was hundreds of dollars less, I went that route. John told me that it was probably the smart move because the manufacturer and the gas station would warranty the part for 1 year. Well I must have gotten a hold of a bad one, so I brought it back and John said he'd have it fixed in the next couple of hours. I had my dog with me and told John I would be at the local dog park and to give me a call when it's ready. He told me to wait and he went into the convenience store and came back with a quart size bottle of Fiji (brand) water and said your dog may need this. How cool is that! I came back and picked up my car with absolutely no additional charge. It's been running good ever since. I am super impressed with this service station (as well as John) and told them that I would Yelp them because they far exceeded my expectations. BTW, there was a sign up that said they were under new management. Whoever the new management is, they're doing it right. read more

I had to bring my car here for engine purposes. When they had to replace my engine, as they were putting all the parts back in, they FORGOT to put in one piece that ruined my newly replaced engine and now is BACK in another dealership (it's been in shop for over 2 months now because of the mistake Yousef's Garage did. 6g's down the drain.) No place is an honest place, especially if it's a business trying to make money and no one has the time to stare them down and actually watch them work on your car properly. What kind of car shop forgets to put in an important car piece in?? I'd think about that before you ever bring your car to Yousef's. read more

If there was a zero star rating, they'd get it. We are from Los Angeles and on our way out of Palms Springs my Toyota Camry overheated on the tramway. AAA towed my car to Yousef's, which subsequently was recommended by them. The hose from my engine to the radiator had come off, the AAA employee had told us that he thought the hose clamp had worn out. My first encounter with the Yousef''s mechanic was unpleasant. He told me with a smirk that he couldn't talk to me about my car until they looked at it because he "didn't want to scare me". I understand that it is unethical to give out information due to the fact that they don't have the facts but he was rude. After they took a look under the hood he called me over and said, "there are a couple options, but the best thing to do would be to replace the radiator. "We could put a new clamp on the hose but then you'll have to take your chances." I asked him to please explain in more detail, did I damage my radiator? I need a whole new radiator? He plainly answered, "Yes" He said we could be out of there by 5PM, it was 2PM at the time, and that it would run me $429.00 After consulting with a few people I know and sending them pictures of the supposed "worn out part" I decided to go with the clamp. When I let them know this the mechanic gave us different information, "You'll be just fine with a new clamp", "no the radiator's fine". Wtf was going on with these people? It was obvious that they were trying to take me for a ride, I wouldn't be surprised if they had told me they were installing a new radiator and only replaced the clamp. I was traumatized when I left this place and my car is absolutely fine, all it needed was a hose put back in place an a little coolant. If you don't know much about automobile repair, don't go here, you may end up needing a new radiator, new engine, who knows... read more

I used to really like this station, especially after they hired Sheri. She's very good at her job and I really can't complain about their work or their prices. I think they are very fair. Unfortunately, I left my car there yesterday for service and when I picked it up today, my iPod was missing. Basically, I was told that was too bad but they weren't responsible. I asked them to review their security tapes. I had to ask, they did not volunteer. It was about 2 hours of tape and they called me back, in less time than that, said they had reviewed the tapes and of course, no one was seen in my car. And Sheri suggested that maybe I had mislaid my iPod. That iPod never leaves my car. It was in there when I dropped off the car and gone when I picked it up. I spent $850 for a 90,000 check-up last week and another $47 today to fix a loose exhaust heat shield and to suggest that I'm trying to rip them off for an iPod is too much. Either someone at their shop stole that iPod or they left my keys unattended, and someone passing by opened the car and took the iPod. Either way, I can no longer do business with this station nor can I recommend anyone else do business with them. This is not a safe place to leave your car unattended for servicing. I guess if my car had been stolen instead of just an iPod, that also would have been my tough luck. read more

On a lark, I've been reading reviews of business's I have patronized in my over 50 years in Palm Springs and decided to write one on Yousef's station. I have dealt with Sobi Yousef over 25 years and have NEVER been dissapointed in the service I have received. Yousef has serviced and repaired over 12 vehicles I have owned and he has ALWAYS been fair and truthful-even going so far as to tell me, on 2 seperate occasions-to NOT do the repairs as the car was not worth the expense. As I have said to many friends over the years "look up HONEST in the dictionary and you'll see Yousef's picture." He and his staff are the BEST. read more
