First - I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the way Pelican handled the scheduling of the install - or rather, bungled. The crew arrived at my home this morning just after 8:00 am with no warning at all. Surprise! It turns out their scheduler sent an email July 18 with notice of intent to install to a fancifully incorrect email address. And, when they received no response from me (and why would they?), no one at Pelican deemed it prudent to follow up with a phone call. Fire and forget? 2 stars. The process to set this up was painless. Their sales/frontman (Isael) paid 2 visits, took careful measurements, explained my options and was a total professional. Not the least bit pushy. 5 stars. OK - on to the install. In a word - slick. The 3-man crew was efficient and from what I can tell (pics attached) did a very nice job removing the old, and installing the new. Again, very professional and respectful of my home, its contents, and my time. No fuss, no muss. The whole process for 6 windows was over and done in 4 hours. Again, 5 stars. The end result - no more drafty louvered windows, replaced with energy efficient, double glazed, argon gas filled windows. I'm pleased with the result, and recommend Pelican as a first stop when shopping for replacement windows.

We hired Pelican Windows to replace approximately eight older windows in the home. After the…read moreinstallation, we noticed the glass in the new windows was significantly darker than the remaining windows in the house. To create a consistent appearance, the owner of the company suggested replacing several additional windows so they would all match. It is important to note that the original windows were functioning properly; the additional replacements were done strictly for aesthetic purposes. Shortly after the work was completed, we experienced a rainstorm and discovered that every one of the newly installed windows leaked. Prior to this installation, the home had never experienced any window leaks. We immediately contacted the owner of Pelican Windows and asked him to inspect the issue. During his visit, he looked at the windows and stated that it was simply a coincidence that all of the newly installed windows were leaking. We find this explanation unacceptable. The leaks began only after the installation of the new windows, and it is highly unlikely that multiple windows would suddenly begin leaking at the same time purely by coincidence. The issue appears directly related to the installation. At this time, the matter remains unresolved, and we are seeking a proper inspection and repair of the installation defects. We expect the company to take responsibility and correct the problem.

Fisher and a 2nd company were about the same price and a third was almost twice. Based on their positive reviews, their promptness in getting back, and their quote, we went with Fisher. The entire process was flawless - as good as one could imagine. They came to make the measurement, determined the tint of the other windows to insure a match, and installed a replacement within ten days of taking the measurements. Rick and his co-worker were a pleasure to deal with, as was the office, that kept us aprised of the schedule. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had for a home repair/service company. They gave me a bid and committed to the job before seeing it- they actually refused to come out before hand. After the deposit was paid they came out, measured and said to expect an installation in about 3 days. Their communication is abysmal. After 5 days of not hearing from them I called and emailed. Crickets. They finally responded when I asked if they'd stolen our money. They replied that it was a difficult job and they were trying to get a mirror company to do the work. As it turns out they only install product, which they never mentioned. No one would cut the glass for them so they couldn't do the job they committed to. I tried to make another option work but that wasn't happening. They made 2 trips to the house for a job they couldn't perform and tried to take $350 in trip charges out of the deposit, which was never discussed. That's obviously egregious especially because it wasn't like we just changed our minds. They couldn't perform the work they agreed to perform and tried to charge us for their incompetence. It's a husband and wife team. She was rude and got aggressive when I told her no one was paying them $350 for their mistake. She said she had to talk to her husband because she was unfamiliar with the job but I had spoken with her in detail about it 3 days previously.... It was pretty nuts. I highly don't recommend them.

I reached out to a few vendors, and Coughlin was by far the most helpful and informative. The whole process went smoothly, Kevin was very friendly and easy to work with; he provided the most information on what type of windows to get for our situation. He was very responsive and answered any questions we had. They also had very reasonable prices and detailed quotes. My husband told me on the day of installation, they were punctual, efficient and completed the window replacements on time. We got Simonton laminated double paned windows, and although they haven't blocked out as much sound as I hoped, they actually help a good deal with lowering hot temperatures in that room in the summer. It's been about a year and the windows still look great and work well (they're also much easier to slide open than our old windows). I would definitely recommend them!
