My SUV recently gave me a…read moremaintenance alert that it was time for a transmission fluid replacement, and I was referred to Christian Brothers. Since I was soon leaving on a road trip, I asked them to also check my tires, brakes, alignment, etc. They thoroughly checked everything, basically gave my car a health checkup, and it passed the physical exam with flying colors. I was only charged for the transmission fluid replacement - they topped off my AC coolant for free. They even provided complimentary Lyft service. It's true!!! There really is an auto maintenance and repair shop that is HONEST, that cares about you, and that does great work for a fair price. This is what excellent customer service looks like!!!

I wasn't shown an itemized breakdown of the cost (labor vs parts), but I agreed to the overall price. When the work was done I was given a printed receipt with itemized costs. The labor was $396, and the parts cost for six Motorcraft iridium spark plugs was $345. I challenged the cost of the plugs and was handed off to a manager (Eric). He immediately said "you agreed to the price for the service", at which point I told him I was never provided a breakdown of the costs before agreeing. I explained that the price of the Motorcraft plugs was $22 each on ford.com ($132 total), so how could they be charging $345 for them in good faith? He had no explanation, and continued to say "you agreed to the price". To charge almost triple the cost for a basic part like spark plugs is classic price gouging. Beware if you use this shop that they will likely try the same tactic. This was my first time at Christian Brothers, and will certainly be my last. Black Forest Auto runs a much fairer business, and I cannot recommend them enough. I only used Christian Brothers because Black Forest's schedule was backed up (an indication of their high quality and reputation).

I also really appreciated the tasty cookie they gave me when I picked up my car. From a purely customer-service standpoint, they do a great job. However, I have to give 2 stars because of their pricing and lack of transparency. I brought my vehicle in and received an estimate for a throttle body replacement. They quoted me $1,044.45 just for the part (labor was an additional $408.66). What really bothered me, in addition to the extreme markup, was the lack of information. The quote didn't specify the brand of the part being used, nor did it state whether it was brand new or a reconditioned unit. As you can see in the photos I've attached, I looked up the parts myself. I can easily purchase a brand new, OEM-quality throttle body for around $150. I understand that mechanics need to mark up parts to make a profit and cover their warranties, but a markup of this magnitude is excessive, especially without being completely transparent about what exactly the customer is paying for. Great customer service and a clean waiting room are wonderful, but they don't justify this level of markup on parts. I highly recommend doing your own research on part prices and getting a second opinion before approving any major repairs here.

I had a couple of choices. Tow it to a shop with profession mechanics or go with a moble machanic that could come to me and fix it right here. Wow! HUGE mistake for trusting this guy! He set up an appointment to be here at 1pm, he finally showed up at 6pm. I was very nice to him and asked if I could watch the fix and maybe learn something. I learned one thing as he continually disappeared to his truck to be on the phone and smoke cigarettes. I assume he was watching a U tube video on how to do the job. It was clear he had no idea what he was doing. Eventually he got so frustrated with the fix he showed his true colors. He got angry and offensive. After hours we started up the car, he used his truck to jump start the car? Why would a real machinic not have a portable tool to do that? Car started and he drove away leaving the bill. Well, a couple minutes later the car died. Called him back to access what was up because he wanted $700 hundred dollar and I am in the dark at 10 o'clock with a car that still had issues. When he arrived eventually, he was on his motorcycle with only a few tools. He tested the battery and said that was the problem. The situation got heated as I asked why would you not just simply start with the testing the battery as a first step and why not read any error codes first off as well? I obviously had plenty of time earlier to get a new one. He said that he was just hired to juar replace the part??? Awful person and extremely incompetent as a so called professional. For the love of everything that is holly, please don't even consider entering a agreement with him!!!!

He comes across as one of the last real mechanics--knowledgeable, thorough, and someone I would have trusted to work on my vehicle. His daughter later called to schedule. She said she was a mechanic. I mentioned Ed had spent a long time with me (as a compliment) and asked a follow-up question about how they'd clear out the engine, noting I had a budget. She said she didn't have enough information, which is fine, but the tone felt closed off. I said, "It doesn't seem like you want to engage in the conversation, and that's okay." She called that rude, I repeated it, and she hung up. I went in person to clear things up because I respected Ed's time. Instead, I was told I had insulted his knowledge--which is completely untrue--and was asked to leave, even after apologizing if anything came across wrong. I respect that Ed let her handle it, but the situation was misrepresented and handled poorly. Unfortunate, because my impression of him was very positive. I did walk away with enough information to pursue next steps, and Elite Auto appears equally equipped, so the time wasn't a complete loss. Based on my experience, I'd keep interactions with her limited to scheduling and work directly with Ed for anything beyond that.

It felt like the employees were more interested in arguing with me than resolving a legitimate warranty issue. Rather than treating me like a valued customer, I was made to feel like I was an inconvenience. After repeated disrespectful interactions, I finally lost my patience and raised my voice with the manager. While I regret that, it came after being ignored and spoken to in an unprofessional manner. As a military service member, I expected honesty, professionalism, and respect from a business that serves our community. I was not asking for special treatment--I simply expected the warranty to be honored and to be treated with basic courtesy. If this is how customers are treated when they need warranty work, I cannot recommend this dealership. Leadership should seriously review how employees communicate with customers, especially those who come in with legitimate warranty concerns. Respect and professionalism should never be optional.
