The Rec Center: Overall, I liked the layout of the rec center, and the folks that helped with getting a card were SUPER friendly and helpful. While I have not officially used the rec center, I was a bit disappointed with the the size of the weight room. The size of the weight room reminds of a weight room that one would find in a hotel. However, the gym did look like it had everything that one would need for a decent workout. Also, I was a bit surprised that the rec center does not open until 9 am on weekdays (and Saturday). Based on my prior rec center experiments, I'm used to rec centers opening from 5:30 to 7 am. Then again, perhaps, these hours are for the summer months. The Library: Again, the librarian who signed me up for a card was very friendly. Also, I loved how she gave me a very thorough overview of this branch's services and resources. Although I was in the library for only a few minutes, I thought it was very well organized.

Was out and about with my 8 year old daughter and she wanted to go to the library and read and I…read moredid a quick Google search and it brought us here. This was our first time here and I did not know that this was more than just a library. Well first of all the library was great and my daughter was quite excited to read one of her favorite books to me. After reading we explored this place as something for everyone.....ping pong tables pool table, video games, basketball courts, indoor track, weight room, lots of event rooms and a playground outside for the little ones. The Mid-County Community Recreation Center is one of the newest rec centers added to the Moco…read morecommunity, tucked away off of Layhill road. I remember watching this being built during my high school years and was so excited for a space close to home where we could hang out, play basketball, etc. A neighborhood landmark of sorts. As an adult, this still rings true. I visit the Mid-County Rec for many reasons including to vote and attend community organization events. I love that you can rent rooms of several sizes - plus, there's even a gym! I wish more people knew how great and multifaceted rec centers are, especially youth and senior citizens. Let's get the word out there about Mid-County rec!

For the Voting portion, the Voting Team did a good job managing Social Distancing requirements in addition to the Voting guidelines. After I voted I took a small tour (as far as I was allowed) & saw how big the venue is. As with most Community Centers, theres a fitness component for cardio/weight lifting & a small scale basketball court. The Rec Center has plenty of space for special events & two sets of restrooms. Part of MoCo Department of Recreation & renamed in Jane's honor, a former Maryland Democratic Politician.

Seems more than reasonable because the membership is good for any of the community centers in Montgomery county! The two ladies at the front desk were warm and friendly, answering all of our questions very politely. The basketball court is a little smaller and has a lower ceiling than I am used to when playing volleyball. However, everyone that was playing was super friendly, respectful, and just absolutely wonderful to play with!! The lobby had several sitting areas and a ping pong table. The restrooms are very clean and they have a water fountain; just wished there was a filtered-water station to easily refill water bottles. There is also a weight room, but I believe you have to pay extra to be able to use it. So glad we came to try this community center out! Since this is the first summer it's been open, there's a couple connecting points that feel a little disjointed but not enough to discourage us from wanting to come back. I originally thought that 90 mins would feel like such little time but when you're on the obstacles or in the water, it feels like you're there longer. I do suggest for anyone not a minor to stretch before hand. You're slipping and sliding all over the place I'm sure I'm going to need an adjustment with a chiropractor. But well worth it.
