Simply put, I've never ever had PT before where the therapist is working ONLY with me. It's fantastic. I'm not just doing my homework in front of them and/or their tech--they are asking lots of questions and thinking creatively and having me try new things and doing pain-relieving pressure and dry needling and evaluating ten pairs of my shoes for me and on and on. This is the best physical therapy place that I've ever been to. With the help of Carrie, I have been able to make the most progress while dealing with different challenges affecting my hip and lower back areas. I have done water and land work with Carrie and seen amazing results. Carrie is so detailed oriented, patient, and explains everything so carefully that you feel that you are in the hands of a true expert. The ladies at the front desk are mostly nice and helpful, especially when putting you on a waitlist. They become nicer as they become familiar with you due to how often they see you. I am not giving them a five star review because I've had a couple of issues with their billing department and one of them is still unresolved because they took more about four weeks to submit whatever documents my insurance needed. Even though they have several therapists it can be hard to get in the schedule and that sometimes can affect the frequency of the sessions you need to do. This is the place go for your rehabilitation needs!  I was struck by a car while walking in a crosswalk and sustained many injuries. I started out at ATI Rockville and thought I was receiving great care until I decided to get another opinion. I went online and found ProAction!  I AM SO HAPPY I DID!  I had immediate results. I received 1:1 care. Danny was the LPT and worked with me educating me on how to do the same exercises I learned at ATI properly. He informed me what I need to focus on and how to do it properly as opposed to just "slower" at ATI. WHAT A DIFFERENCE.  I still follow the exercises I was recommended to continue to do at home and I am so appreciative they assisted me in doing the exercises properly. Darshinee Loney is an outstanding physical therapist. I saw her first for an ankle injury due to running years ago. Have since seen her for lumbar/sacral problems due to listhesis. She has helped me manage pain and put off Spinal fusion surgery a little longer, even helped prepare me when I hiked Kilimanjaro. Darshinee is the best for her expertise, professionalism and kindness. She knows her job incredibly well and provides highly informed interventions with compassion. I most highly recommend Darshinee. The staff at Proaction are great, too. Pam and Sheila are fastidious in reminding of appointments, and always go out of their way to offer lots of flexibility to ensure I can get an appt that can work with my schedule. Rachel (the owner) is also quite knowledgeable and has provided consultation when a second opinion was desired. Phenomenal physical therapy practice that specializes in running and other active movement. I had knee surgery over a year ago and I reached a point in my recovery where I felt ready to start learning to run again but didn't know how. When you go through a surgery that requires you to not walk for 4 months, your body forgets how to run and you don't want to go straight into it because you might hurt yourself. I came to Proaction and worked with Kelsey, who was absolutely wonderful. She helped me work my way up to running again and gave me great exercises to do on my own time. I worked with her for about 2 months, seeing her twice a week. Towards the end when I was pretty much where I needed to be she recommended ending my sessions, which I appreciated because I did not feel like they were trying to get more of my money and I felt confident enough to be on my own. I couldn't believe my ears when I called proaction physical therapy and asked if they had ever heard of and/or treated anyone with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome/ Hypermobility Joint Syndrome ....the answer was yes!! Such began the first successful partnership that I have had with a physical therapist - Deb W. In this practice, for each session the cllient/patient is scheduled to work one-on-one with the same physical therapist for the course of treatment. This individual focus enables constant monitoring, adjustments and negotiation regarding goals and treatment plan. I was able to work on land and in the pool. Deb is extremely knowledgeable, a great listener and very willing to consult with another therapist if she needs additional expertise. I have successfully finished my course of treatment after many months .. toning and stabilizing my shoulders, hips and core. Now, I continue to do my well-established regimen of exercises at home. And, I feel secure in knowing that if I ever need additional support that these folks are there for me. As other reviewers have, I also want to praise the front office staff .. in particular Sheila and Pam who greet us all as we enter the clinic. Seriously seriously amazing!! I chose proaction PT because of the 4 yelp reviews and because my insurance accepted them. I wasn't sure if the reviews would be accurate since there were only 4 of them, but boy am I happy I went here. I have absolutely nothing negative to say at all. Proaction PT is seriously amazing. I love everything about them. I had 2 knee surgeries (meniscus and ACL reconstruction) and needed to get in right away to start PT as my knee was very very stiff. The receptionists got me in right away and didn't want me to wait any longer since I was so stiff. They did everything they could and have been able to fit me in 3x a week even though they were almost full. They do fill up fast but they will do everything they possibly can to fit you in (and even then the office isn't running late and things are not crazy hectic). I've been going here for a week now and will have PT for another 3 months. I will do an update after 3 months but honestly I don't envision my feelings changing. The therapists are so wonderful and caring and all have a lot of experience. You see the therapist for the full hour and they stay with you while you do the exercises and monitor you to make sure you are doing things accurately. I've been to offices where the PT has 2 patients in 1 hr and you just sit by yourself doing the exercises. This place is nothing like that and definitely worth going here!! I love it and love going to therapy here as I can tell I'm improving and that I'm around knowledgeable therapists. Building is not sketchy at all! It's a really nice place. They have a second office at the JCC with aquatherapy there but only one therapist goes there once a week. read more

A really solid physical therapy center, the building is kinda dodgy but that is not their fault. They will take care of you, make sure all the billing is in order and have great staff. You should know right at the start that I don't write fan mail. Not even to Starbucks, Spotify, or Fred's Team and the NY Marathon. Here is where I have already arrived after 7 sessions with you and Ken and not quite an equal number of visits with personal trainer and massage therapist that you recommended to me: Yesterday was 12 miles at 10:35 per minute average pace. Not fast; I'm never fast :-( . But this was the longest run since last November's Marathon (and my TWO 10 mile orthopedic 'events'). It's the kind of run predictive (not for a while mind you) of a marathon in the 9's for NYC which is still more than 8 months away. Yes, I know I am awesome but this is really about ProAction and the Team you assembled for me. As a reminder: you (or better, YOU GUYS) got me to the right Orthopod, Personal Trainer and Massage Therapist. The right Team at the right moment. Stride Clinic to come. I am a runner and ended up with an injury. I went to ProAction for some therapy. Rachel was amazing. She, being a runner herself, took her time evaluating me. She was very attentive and sympathetic. She knew what my issue was and started to help me. I knew that her facility was out of network for me. I would have remained with Rachel but unfortunately, this injury is going to take time to heal along with many PT visits. I wish that they participated with my insurance company. Honestly, being a loyal and referring customer of this business for 20 + years, it all became clear this week. They have and retain fantastic therapists. They have great office staff. It's why I have returned and referred. I even caught up with the front desk. Always a joy, until!! Denying someone treatment because of ones inability to take a booster due to adverse reaction to first course is beyond the lowest of low. I could partially understand if one is purposely not inoculated, but when one is unable to take the full course and weighing their longer term options, thats beyond excessive and counter to the medical field and their desire to help people. Hard feelings sure. You made me feel like a 2nd class citizen through no fault of my own. Not cool! I could understand if there was a staff member at high risk, if so, say that instead. Heck, Lie! But directing your "opinion" bias on the matter at me as if I was some dirty soul was and is beyond the pale. The owner was very respectful in her comms, but the big picture here given the data we have right now is their policy lacks tact and appears rooted in systemic bias by way of assigned opinions rather than science and the practice of healing and medical profession. I saw Ken when I was having issues with my IT band from running. He's hands down the best physical therapist I've been to, and was able to point out exactly what was wrong, some weaknesses that I had, and how to correct them. With his advice, I was running pain free again very soon after. Having shattered my elbow playing outdoor sports, I was more than a little apprehensive when the doctor said they needed to operate, and that post surgery, I could only expect a 35-165 degree range of motion with the joint. However, once I started working with "Danny George", my fears gradually disappeared. Danny is extremely personable, has an impeccable bedside manner, and most importantly, knows exactly what he's doing. Within 2 months, we were able to get a 32-170 degree range of motion, and over the next few weeks went on to get 26-180, which is just a few degrees off normal range. I could not be any happier with the efforts Danny and the rest of the ProAction PT team have made, and helped me get normal range of motion back in my arm. Sheila and Pam deserve special mention here, for being super nice and caring, and always willing to help and accommodate even last minute requests. At the beginning of my physical therapy, Proaction did an adequate job treating me and scheduling appointments. However, when I was in the home stretch, they dropped the ball, refusing to honor my doctor's prescription for PT. I've never experienced that before, and I have worked with a number of places recovering from various injuries. I am an avid runner and train at a high level. After tearing my achilles five months ago, I was unsure whether I would be able to return. The staff at ProAction worked with me and within three months, I was running again and now, five months later, I am almost back to the mileage I was prior to my injury. They know exactly how to treat runners, and most importantly, they determine the cause of the injury so that it does not happen again. Well, I can't say enough good things about this place! Starting with the time you walk in the door, with Pam & Sheila, who greet you when you walk in, & who are never in a bad mood, to Marianna, who is the Office mgr, who will do anything in her power to make sure you get what you need. But then there's my all time favorite person in the whole world, Darshinee! This woman is an angel! She has been my therapist, & without her amazing hands, I don't know what I'd do. I have a torn rotator cuff, & if any of you out there know anything about them, you know that they are extremely painful! When I first got there back in Aug of 2013, I was in so much pain. I couldn't even move my arm, I couldn't drive, I couldn't even raise my arm. I was a mess in more ways than one! But Darshinee with her amazing hands & her soft spoken voice, helped me get through it, little by little. She even helped me with other problems that I had. This woman has a wealth of knowledge! By far the best physical therapists in the DC area, and I've been to several over the years. Most PT places only give you individualized one-on-one time with a certified physical therapist on your first visit, and then farm you out to untrained young staffers who leave you on your own. But ProAction therapists are excellent and give you 100% of their attention for your entire visit, every visit. This makes a huge difference because they're closely watching and adjusting exercises based on how you're doing, getting and giving feedback throughout. Other PT places are closer to me in Bethesda but it's worth the drive to Rockville because the care is so much better. Can't recommend highly enough and I'm a demanding customer. read more

Hopeful, but annoyed. I've had two sessions for neck pain and headaches. So far, I'm in greater pain, but that's probably to be expected in the short term. The greater problem is the billing department. My small company switched insurance plans and they're having trouble getting insurance cards out to everyone. It could take 2-3 weeks. ProAction insists that I get my ID number to them ASAP. I've offered to pay cash (and get reimbursed later by my insurance company), but ProAction won't accept that, nor can they wait for the insurance information. I've called and emailed HR at my company repeatedly. Maybe ProAction has been ripped off before by people who pretended they had insurance, then stiffed them?? All I know is I need my job, I like my employer, and I'm still in pain. I'm the customer, right? read more

What a great experience I had! I called them after seeing Rachel Miller come to many running club events and give great information about running, pains, injuries, etc. The woman who answered the phone was incredibly helpful, took my insurance information, checked with my insurance company and then called me back to explain options/costs. She was able to get me an appointment with Ken the next day due to a cancellation and the people were super helpful when I arrived. Ken was fantastic to work with - very personable, but also clearly very knowledgeable! He diagnosed my injury, explained in normal English what I had done, where it was on my leg and why certain things he was going to ask me to do were important. I have been to other physical therapists in the past, but will only go to ProAction in the future.
