I reached out to Laura to try a lift and tint and wow. What a time to be alive. The service took a while because the girl who did my lashes was still learning and Laura came to check her work but it was amazing. My lashes looked like they had natural extensions and mascara on them for like 3 months. The second time I went, I was talking to Laura about my eyebrows. She recommended waxing and tinting them. I was definitely into tinting them but I was nervous about waxing because I have naturally thin eyebrows already. Laura assured me that they would look fuller and thicker when she was done. Again, I was nervous but trusted her and damn. I don't know what type of witchcraft that was but amazing. I have shared my amazing lash and brow experience with friends who now see Laura and she is so great with referral discounts which I really appreciate. Overall, just a huge fan. I love having great hair, skin, and nail techs who I can trust and who take care of their clients!

I'm so happy I discovered esthetic Institute through groupon. Now I've been here over 8 times and…read moreI've been working with one particular student for a few months now. Her level of knowledge with problem/acne skin has impressed me. As someone who has tried almost everything in the industry and visited countless dermatologists for years to treat my face, I've never been treated with such great attention to my skin and such a personalized action plan. She has been working to lighten my hyperpigmentation and I already see great improvement. I've done regular facials, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. Now that my hyperpigmentation has been improving, I hopped over to their location next door (the Esthetic Laser Clinic, not to be confused with Esthetic Institute-where the students are) and got microneedling (Skinpen) done. I am excited to see the results. The Esthetic Laser clinic is the real deal and it is not done by students. Pricing for the Esthetic Institute is wonderful, especially for this area where everything seems to be on the higher end. I'm sad to be moving from the area soon but I know that anytime I'm back in town, a trip to the esthetic Institute will be on my list!

Found this place through Groupon's $35 Corrective Facial deal. Their regular price is $45 and they…read morehave a stamp card where after 5 facials you get one free (which they didn't give me the first time I went, mind you). Price wise, it's unbeatable in this area. As far as what the price gets you...well a student edition that's slower and therefore abridged. There's a lot they simply don't have time for as the student tries to rush through everything in about 45minutes. The first time takes longer as there's a review of your intake forms, and a discussion on what products to use during this facial. After cleansing, an instructor comes in to check your skin and advise the student on what to do and what products to use. I found this process useful for determining what products I should and should not use. I came back and scheduled with the same student just to get an idea of how much my skin might've improved after following the instructors advice. Very useful. They student double cleanses while streaming your skin. There's always makeup removal even though I've tried telling them I have permanent makeup and no additional makeup on. I really wished they would add this to their chart so we can just skip all this "makeup removal" when no makeup is worn. Anyway, after double cleansing there's an inspection, in my case exfoliation, a mask, and then some treatment as necessary. I assume not everyone has the same treatment as we have different issues to address. Overall the rooms and tables are comfortable. They play pleasant music. It's meant to be a relaxing spa experience. However, as they don't have any lymphatic massage included, or bring any of the facial down to your neck/chest, it really feels a little j complete. There's also not been any extraction even though estheticians usually would extract.

I got a haircut and it was a fix from another local school mess up. The young girl did fantastic at fixing it and a new cut that I showed her a picture of. The second time, I took my kids with me, and they could not stop talking about the salon and the girls. They both were equally impressed and very satisfied with their cut. One of my sons is very OCD and hard to please with his hair cut, but his hairstylist met the demand and was fabulous. I have always had a pleasurable experience from walking in the doors until leaving. I love that you get tea when getting there. The store front is very attractive and welcoming as well as the staff. I highly recommend this salon to anyone. I have not had a bad experience from scheduling to the end of my appointment. WELL DONE AVEDA ARLINGTON!!!!

The video recording will show it. Be careful and don't let her treat you badly, too. Students need to learn customer service skills along with the hair styling techniques. This instructor only serves to show what NOT to do. I love the students here so much! It's why I booked here for eight years. The learning energy is optimistic, which is important, especially in DC. The tall guy at the front desk is incredible at his job. It's this one instructor that seems to have a problem with customers. I've only ever seen her be disrespectful and inappropriate with customers.

Honest Review -- Please Read Before You Waste Your Money…read more If I could give this makeup academy zero stars, I honestly would. The instructors are completely unprofessional, rude, and entirely money-driven. They don't care about your progress, your goals, or your future in the beauty industry -- only your payment. They stretch the same basic material over 14 long weeks, repeating the exact same topics just to justify their overpriced tuition. Yes, I did learn a few things -- but everything they taught could've been covered in three days at a fraction of what they charge. Nothing you get is advanced. It's the same basic information you can learn for free on social media, taught as slowly as possible to make the program appear valuable. And don't expect any real industry secrets or professional tricks. The instructors intentionally withhold techniques, keeping the real skills to themselves. You're left with surface-level knowledge and a certificate that doesn't reflect any professional training. About those five-star reviews you see everywhere? Don't fall for them. On the last day, right before they hand you your certificate, they force you to fill out a "review form" with only two questions: 1. Which service did you take? 2. Was it worth the money? No room for honesty, no room for criticism. That's how they maintain their perfect rating -- through manipulation, not quality. The environment is also extremely racially charged. If you are not part of a certain race, you are automatically treated as an outsider. The favoritism is obvious, uncomfortable, and wrong. And the way they talk to students? Like you're five-year-olds. The instructors behave like bullies, not educators. Instead of guiding you, they belittle you, control you, and create an intimidating atmosphere. Even the "professional photos" they promise at the end are a joke. The lighting is terrible, the quality is worse than an iPhone, and some photos are never delivered at all. Please save yourself the disappointment, the money, and the frustration. This academy is not professional, not ethical, and definitely not worth the hype or the cost.
