I'm a little late to write this review, but I had to make sure I do it, just because even over a month later I got my hairstyle done, people still ask me all about it and tell me how much they love my haircut and my very natural but, still gleaming, highlights. This salon is my favorite to the point that I travel from ATL, where I live now, to FLL to do anything about my hairstyle; it is a little pricey, but worth every penny and this is a lot to say as I care about the value I get for my money. This is the kind of place you feel comfortable, it is not pretentious and you have the confidence they will take care of you to do the best for your look. In my last visit, I walked in with very long, natural hair, that I had the plan to donate. Elizabeth worked with me an listened what I wanted for my new look, then she made it happen! not only that, she prepare the paperwork to complete the donation, so all I had to do was mail it to Locks of Love. Elizabeth is the owner and manager of the salon, she is highly knowledgeable about her area, with many years of experience and continuously updating her skills and training on fashion trends for hairstyle. they also use only high quality products. My experience has been excellent every time I come here, Elizabeth is super caring person with excellent customer service.. there is water, cookies and even if you are hungry, her stuff will have no problem to place an order of food for you, while you get your hair done. I had let my hair grow out to a point where I could no longer stand it! Gray hair and dark roots were everywhere and whatever shape I had was completely gone. After finding out that my current hairdresser had moved on, So I crossed my fingers and made an appt at Moda. My hair is very gone and very thin, so it's not easy to find a stylist who can make my hair look good.. Well, Francis made my hair look great! This place was extremely dirty, very very dirty, every drawer that was opened, was full of dirty hair brushes, completely packed with hair and dirt. The walls were dirty. Everything was dirty. Her scissors were so dull they pulled my hair when she cut. I should've walked out in the first couple of minutes. Do not believe any reviews, it's obviously friends have been giving good reviews . I went here a while ago for a blow dry. Overall, the experience was good, they gave a nice head massage and a blow dry. The blow dry was about a 8 on a scale of 1-10. The reason why I am giving them 3 stars is because I have really thick hair, so while I was getting my hair done, one of the other hair dressers decided to help for the last 10 min to hurry the drying process. That part didn't bother me, but when I paid, I tipped the woman who washed my hair and the woman who I had the appointment with. She then said to me- don't forget to tip the other woman. I have never had a problem tipping and am a generous tipper, but I don't think it was my responsibility to tip her. At the moment, I did not want to be rude, so I tipped the other one too, but I didn't make an appointment with two hair dresses. They should've figured out the tips amongst themselves and not make the customer responsible for double tipping. Either way, I never went back and won't be going back. read more

I came here for the first time over 10 years ago because I needed a break from driving all the way to Coral Gables to get my hair done and I wanted to make sure I was still going to get the quality and service I had at my previous salon. I did my homework and found that Elizabeth had the credentials and ratings that would make me feel good taking the leap. Needless to say I have been coming ever since. I just had my hair done again last week and came home looking so good that I even got a date night with my husband in the middle of the week. I have had everything done here over the years from Cuts, Highlights, Makeup, Manicures/Pedicures, to Braziian Keratin treatment. Everything has been top notch and professional. This review is way overdue. I'm almost embarrassed to say how long I've been going to the salon before writing this. I've been with Elizabeth and her sister Francia for over three years, and every time I go I give them creative freedom to do what they think looks good on me. There hasn't been one time when I was dissatisfied with what they did to my hair. Prior to going to Moda, I had been doing my hair and top salons in Coral Gables, Miami Beach, the Miami design District for years. This salon is not only as good, but probably even better. Please stay away from this "Hair salon" they will mess up your hair the same way they damaged my mid-long hair, they are not good with blow-dry neither color and they will never take responsibility if your hair starts braking up after a horrible hair decolorization, they bleached my hair up to the point that my hair started falling a part and off course I showed them and they didn't want it to take responsibility for it. worse place ever. read more

Before Elizabeth did my hair we talked about my highlights, what was my concerns, on how I wanted the color of my highlights, because the last 4 hair stylist did not listen well, did what they wanted and I was very unhappy with my hair. I found this place a few years back for an emergency updo and makeup. They had done amazing work then! After a few years i stopped in to give the salon a try with my very difficult to manage hair. I had dyed my hair black and wanted to go lighter. I went to the lady i had gone for years and my hair came out yellow and orange!!! Thank goodness for Moda Hair. Heard of Moda Hair Salon thru a friend of mine and have been a client for past two years. They really take their time catering to your needs instead of rushing you like all the other hair salons. Just had my hair highlighted and cut by Elizabeth at Moda Hair. I live in Austin and prior to that lived in DC, prior to that in Miami. Whenever I have the opportunity to get back to Miami I come here to get transformed. This woman is an artist.. I feel like a million dollars right now! I have been coming here since she opened and never had a bad experience or heard of any disappointed clients. Always after my hair is done here, I get showered with compliments about my hair. I have to go to other stylist because I can't always get back to South Florida, and let me tell you, while my girl in Austin is pretty good....she doesnt hold a candle to Elizabeth. Do not attempt. Called in advance and the owner answered the phone. I explained I was moving here and needed to match my color. She said she used wella. Which was my color and I specifically asked if she used color perfect. She said yes. Called the next day. Confirming they had my color. Arrived the next day and she stated she did not have my color and gave me a different color to match up. Incompetent. They carry wella line. All she had to do is order and pick up what I wanted. I decided not to let them color my hair. And they were rude. Walked into a fabulous place and they ordered my hair color and going back Monday. I am moving here so they lost out!! I have been searching for a salon that can highlight my hair the way i want it highlighted for the past three years. I decided to try Moda Salon and I could not be happier with how my hair turned out. It's perfect. I liked it so much that i decided last minute to have my hair cut and styled by them as well. Elizabeth at Moda is phenomenal with both color and cut. She has been doing my hair for a few years off and on, but now I am a true believer. I went to someone else for awhile who did my roots and my cut and did a fair job until......she did my highlights- wow talk about messed up. So I went back to Elizabeth for a consultation and she absolutely would not let me leave with out her fixing my color. 6 months later my hair is in much better condition and the color is beautiful. The products at the salon are Kerastase and are really great for your hair. I understand what the previous reviewer said and yes she does have another stylist to help her at times to apply color or help with the blow dry (never the style) and yes it does get confusing with the tipping but she is a master stylist and always does the cut and determine the color combinations. Most top salons do have assistants to assist with different processes. I just figure it out. Whatever they get they get and I don't sweat it. But, although Elizabeth is the owner I still tip her, she is totally worth it. She has never said to me don't forget to tip the other woman that sounds strange, maybe it was some other stylist. Whatever, try it -I don't think you will be disappointed By the way my hair is curly wavy and it's impossible to find someone that can cut it and not chop it up or want to straighten it. I've been to ModaHair about 10 times or probably more. All of my experiences have been pleasant. I've had micro dermabration & facials since I bought myself a nice package and I am very happy with them. The hair? Well just for starters they use Kerastase and once you have used Kerastase you do not want anything else. Trust me, I live in Miami Lakes and I drive all the way up to Davie to get my hair treated with the best. The atmosphere is good and I always leave happy with my hair. My stylist Mary is friendly and makes me feel at ease. I've requested things done on my hair and I have always been advised of the (-) of bleaching and coloring..I have beautiful hair and if anybody wants a picture of it. I got my hair done a little over a week ago by Yolanda. I went from having brown hair with some highlights to a full red-violet to brighter red ombre! It came out wonderfully, I am more than happy with the results. However, the color from the bleached lower part of the hair fades quickly. I hope they can fix that! read more

fabulous place, I had full highlights, manicure and pedicure, and facial wax, I had a chance to be taken care of by 3 of the staff and owner and they were all great, knowledgeable, experienced, professional and very attentive to wanting to make me as beautiful as I could be, The salon is very well kept and has all the up to date equipment and the newest products, the prices are expensive but I was very satisfied with the service, I recommend it highly, I wish the salon a great success for many years to come, and I think I have found my home salon that I will be going to from now on. read more
