I thought she was crazy. We talked a bit more and I was feeling a bit adventurous and I just felt like I could trust her so I said sure let's go for it. I could tell she knew what she was doing as I was recalling my perm days of the late 80's...I have a sensitive scalp and I had no issues with the application of the products and there was no harsh odors. I was comfortable the entire time. My hair came out so great. I received so many compliments on my hair and no one believed it was a perm because it looked so natural. The perm lasted me a good 6-7 months and then I went back to Connie again in Septemeber for my second perm. I will continue to return to her and will recommend her to everyone who asks me "who does your hair!" Thanks Connie and I'm so sorry that it has taken me so long to write this. I have over 15 years of experience dyeing and bleaching my own hair, often using a 30 volume bleach, so I'm very familiar with the process and what is normal. I've also been to multiple other salons in the past for bleaching and coloring without any issues. The stylist used a "highlighter bleach" that caused an intense stinging and burning unlike anything I've ever experienced before. She washed the bleach out with scalding hot water directly on my scalp--something I know is unsafe--and placed a towel over my face during the rinse that she wouldn't let me move. She repeatedly wiped bleach off my face with her gloved hands but made no effort to divert the bleach water away from my ears, allowing it to run into them--I could hear crackling. During this largely silent wash, she suddenly commented that hair oxidizes in the sun and recommended wearing hats. This felt like a subtle nod to an awareness of the damage she was causing, especially the hole in my hair, rather than casual advice, since we hadn't spoken otherwise. Almost every step deviated from proper technique. I have long hair from my temples up, with a brunette undercut below that I specifically asked to leave alone. Despite this, she left bleach on my undercut in uneven patches, freehanding bleach beneath the shave line. She also applied toner only to roots and missed yellow patches, and aggressively brushed and blow-dried my scalp, causing pain that lasted days. A second stylist confirmed I had a painful friction burn and an actual hole in my hair. She never fully neutralized the blue tone I started with or corrected my roots as promised. When I requested a refund, I waited days to schedule it and received no apology--only awkward silence and superficial compliments.

I was welcome by the stylist with whom we had an appointment and was asked how I'd like their hair cut. I was so specific that I provided pictures and was told numerous times, "no you don't want that, how about this?" Why bother asking? Finally after giving in to the uppity and overly suggestive stylist, my first girl was sent in with her mask. This woman comes out yet again asking how I want her bangs....!!? Then it came time for my 3 year old to go in. I was reluctant about sending my 3 year in alone with a mask but I was proud that she went brave and willingly. I did not opt for the shampoo and blow dry as she wouldn't have done that alone and without me. I gave the stylist the instructions for the haircut yet again and within 5 minutes she came out stating, "she can't do it" because she wouldn't sit still and her mask was falling off and it "wasn't fair for the other people inside." Are you kidding!? She then proceeded to do her haircut outside. I realize these are post-pandemic times right now but maybe if a 3 year old that is forced to wear a mask and be sent in alone without her mother is too much, you shouldn't be excepting appointments for toddlers during these times. I came in for my appointment at four and as soon as I walk through the door the first words out of her mouth are, "I can't take you anytime soon your apt isn't until 5:30" I'm like "oh wow really I thought it was four?" She replies "nope not four definitely five thirty this woman sitting here has had an apt with me for MONTHS" with the most attitude possible. I'm like ok we'll I thought it was four and I have dinner plans so I won't be able to stay she replies again with the same exact sentence except even more attitude. I reply that's totally fine I'm not blaming you or mad at all I'm just saying for whatever reason I thought it was four and I can't stay.. then I left because.. what the hell?! Why so rude?! Y'all should set up a text reminder for apts for your guests. I am 99% sure my apt was at four. Either way, it would be great to have that for situations like these. When I contacted her to get it corrected, I was told I would be charged for this. After pleading my case, she indicated she would reach out for approval for a complimentary correction. After she corrected the issue, she jokingly said that next time I say "Go big or go home" and have two mimosas she would think twice about my request. Although it was a joke there is usual a kernel of truth to jokes in general. When I reached out to the salon they said that there were sorry I felt that way and they were sorry to see me go. I was a bit put off by the reaction, which was I was delayed in receiving. I have since moved on to a new salon. I did have a good experience with Holly up until that last visit. I felt like I was mistreated and the "joke" was unprofessional and unkind.
