We came here for a sneak peek at the auto body shop and a kind of welcome party for Tesla owners. I really wasn't sure what to expect but once we pulled up there were Tesla's everywhere! Upon checking in they gave us sweet stickers, a raffle ticket for the prizes, and food truck tickets. Wow!! We went on a tour of the shop and they had demonstrations of how they fix door dents, how they apply paint protection, and how they re-calibrate the cameras on Tesla's. Inside they also had a lot of fruit and veggies, chips, water bottles, and slushy drinks! The kids had a blast looking at everything and eating snacks. We even had lunch from the food truck, the black sheep. Which was pulled pork sandwiches with chips, or beef brisket sandwiches with chips. Both options were delicious. My favourite was also being able to see inside a taken apart Tesla and do walk underneath one as well. Super cool!! If I ever need work done to the Tesla I would come here for sure. read more

The best body shop, bar none! My Macan was unfortunately rear-ended in mid-October when I yielded at 111 Ave going onto 61 St in Edmonton by a Hyundai Sante Fe. I have brought my BMW's to this body shop for the last few mishaps. I had a high-end BMW with matte black paint that was damaged in a "side swipe" vehicle collision. Modern Auto Body was one of the few authorized BMW body shops that have the equipment and certified technicians to work on the vehicles. The finishing quality was very good and everything was completed according to the timelines they mentioned. They dealt with the insurance company quickly and fought to ensure that the insurance companies did not try to cut corners and not pay for full OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts. I currently have another BMW in their shop now (which was rear-ended). They have extensive processes to ensure the structural integrity of the car is maintained to original standards. Their top-tier equipment and certification from many major brands of luxury vehicles to repair such vehicles gives me high confidence that repairs made will meet pre-accident vehicle condition. I have gone to other body shops for smaller paint jobs. When it comes to collision repair and specialized painting, I would not trust many other body shops. They also set me up with a rental vehicle within 15 minutes of arrival. I was very satisfied and impressed with their speed of service. I've reviewed this place before but I can't find my review so I am writing it again. Dealing with Modern Auto Body was worse than experiencing the accident that led me there in the first place which should give you an indication of how terrible it must've been and it was a pretty bad accident. 5 years ago, my car (brand new BMW) should've been written off but they estimated the repair low so they can get the work from insurance, then inflated the costs later to nearly double which would have qualified the vehicle to be written off had they given that quote initially. They had the vehicle for 6 months, quoted 2 initially for the repair. They were so rude and unprofessional and treated me like a piece of crap. The only way I was a able to get updates was to drop in unexpected as they would never return my calls or call me to tell me that they're running behind on their work. When I'd show up, I was met with condescension like how dare you drop in like this? 6 months and $25,000 later, the repair was mediocre at best with uneven gaps and rough paint. I had to wait another month for them to clean up the work and repaint the front bumper which honestly I cannot believe that they were willing to deliver in such condition. I had paint overspray on other body panels and also paint spray on my leather steering wheel that damaged the leather when I tried to remove it. I was so upset that I traded my car in for a new one shortly after that. Absolute garbage of a company and when people leave them bad reviews on google, they reply with "we were not able to locate you in our database". Right so all these people are going out of their way to give your sad company a fake review. Seriously avoid this place like the plague, I've had better repairs in the past from Herbers Auto Body. The only reason why I came here was because they claimed to be BMW certified, what a joke! read more

Wow, what a joke this place was. My girlfriend has a nice car. It isn't a Benz, a BMW, or a Range Rover. But pulling into Modern Auto Body we were feeling pretty confident because her car was nicer than all the "Kijiji specials" they had on display out front. Except hers wasn't a Benz. We asked for an estimate. The polite secretary asked if we had an appointment. Um, no. This is a body shop in rigpig Edmonton, not a Ritz Carlton. When she asked what kind of car we had (Hyundai Genesis) she looked at us and said "Oh, we only do upscale cars here." Are you F***ING serious? lol. We actually started laughing out loud, it was so ludicrous. They proudly were displaying "luxury" cars in front of their shop, yet we noticed they were nothing you couldn't buy on Kijiji for $10- $20k. Oh, and to Modern Auto Body. I am a journeyman autobody mechanic. I am not longer in the trade because I was smart and got out of it before the chemicals killed me. But I would like to point a few things out... When I was going to NAIT for my apprenticeship, one of your employees was in my class. He as a nice guy, and we got along great. But he didn't know jack about the trade. He was bad. I am surprised a shop so damn "upscale" would have someone working there who lacked competence. As for how "upscale" your shop is, it ain't that great. You are doing nothing different than any other quality shop in Edmonton does. The only thing different about your shop is your elitist attitude that you are actually something special. So a two middle finger salute to Modern Auto Body. If I cared anymore beyond this review, I would offer to go over any of your customers cars you have repaired and pick apart all the flaws in your work. Never again! Took a week for a quote, 6 weeks to get in and 10 days in the shop and they still didn't actually fix it. Just a garbage patch up job. Back months later for them to actual replace what they initially told me they already did. What a scam and waste of my time! read more

I rate my experience with Modern as 5 Stars- if nothing else to balance out the other ridiculous reviews! Anyone considering getting work done there just keep in mind that the other reviewers didn't even have any work completed there. I had no issues with my estimate experience nor did I feel at all like they were looking down on me. I have a newer car but it is not a million dollar machine- they never made me feel like I didn't deserve their service. If anything they were beyond friendly-- and Tammy at reception was super great. Although I did wait for a long time to get my car in- and it did take a long time to repair- the quality of the work is much better than average-- There was a slight variance in orange peel probably imperceptible to most (I am pretty fussy) but the appraiser- also very nice- said they could polish the car once the paint had cured which was beyond what anyone else would have said. She did not imply I was unrealistic but instead offered a solution. I don't think this business needs good reviews- they are busy as it is- but they deserve it! Thanks guys I read more

Terrible autobody shop. I went there for an accident covered by my insurance and it took months to fix with them pushing it back week after week even though it was them who said it would be done by that date. Even 2 years after getting my car fixed, issues persisting such as rust occurring on many places in which they would've fixed. Their life time warranty is terrible, with issues such as them saying they repainted the whole trunk when in reality they didn't. I've previously had a couple of vehicles repaired here (minor hit and run damage), and service here was 5 star! This time, not so much! I recently took my current vehicle here for an estimate for front bumper repairs, and after slightly more than one week, my insurance company finally received Modern's estimate. A week has since passed, and still no call from Modern regarding an appointment for repairs. I highly suspect this place is under new management, since service has certainly deteriorated over my past experiences! read more

Would never deal with them again. My car got broken into and I sent my vehicle there according to the recommendation of Bavaria BMW. Oct. 31st is when my car first went to their shop...it's now January 16 and STILL in the shop and apparently will take another 2-3 weeks . I spoke to a lady who was helping us initially and she's nothing but rude and spoke to me in a manner in which to insinuate that I'm incompetent as to the process. Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but for a car, which was broken into; it should not take 3 months going into 4. I think that it's a normal HUMAN emotion to be frustrated when I'm shelling out money OUT OF MY POCKET for a rental car and spending thousands (not hundreds) to get my car fix. Word of advise go else where. I'm sure that their quality of work will be good however their time management and customer service is completely and utterly subpar. read more

I had my car in for collision repair as it was recommended by dealer and I been there 15 years ago. What a bad experience. Totally not interested in being helpful or into customer service. Top priority was how they were going to be get pay and that their estimate were not firm at all. We took our MB GLK 350 there to get repaired from being rear ended. The StateFarm estimate said that the rear bumper cover needed to be replaced. Upon picking up the car I went underneath to check and see if had been replaced or just refinished. To my surprise it was just refinished. When I asked to see the parts invoice for my repairs they refused to show me. They denied that it was just refinished until I should them the broken clips underneath. Then they said they were red faced and that they would fix it buy getting a new rear cover. We would bring the car back so they could swap the cover. Brought the car back to get it swapped over and picked it up the next day. Two days later while loading groceries in the car noticed that the retractable cargo cover was not ours and they must have made a mistake. This one was broken and of a different style, hard to miss. Went there today to show the shop Forman and he said nope that was the one you had in your car. I was pissed. I said if my wife had picked up the car the first time they would have gotten away with not replacing the cover cause she would not have gotten underneath to check and so now they get to screw me by doing the swap on this. I smashed the broken one in the parking lot. DO NOT use this body shop they DO NOT fix cars properly, they cut corners and hope you don't catch them and rip you off. read more

Brutal customer service with a bad attitude. I called Modern because they were "Porsche Certified" and was referred by Porsche Edmonton even though they were not an "approved" shop by TD Insurance. When I called and was told that they were booking into November for repairs. I brought my Porsche in for an estimate in late September anyway and met a guy named Kregg who was to do the estimate. The first thing I told him was that my car is a summer vehicle and would be undriveable once the snow flies due to the tires. Kregg told me that since the repairs were simple - bumper and taillight only, that he would be able to squeeze it in to do it sooner to meet my criteria. After waiting a week for the insurance adjuster to approve the repairs, a receptionist called me and offered a Dec. 1 appointment. I called Kregg to see if this was a mistake since he had promised me much sooner. He was very abrupt, essentially saying that it's not his problem. The service was cancelled and I will now have to try to rush it into another shop I had spoken to - Doug's Autobody, who were much more professional to deal with. I guess I should have started with an "approved" shop in the first place. read more
