This place continues to amaze me. Yesterday the original battery in my 2018 Silverado failed (over 8 years old) so I called Modern Chevrolet hoping for a same day appointment. They accommodated my request and set me up for an hour after I called. When I arrived they were welcoming and guided me through the process. I dropped the truck off and went across the street for lunch. When I returned I waited for about 15 minutes and the truck was ready. I have been going to Modern for about 10 years now for service and they have never disappointed me. The service reps are helpful, friendly and accommodating and the techs are obviously knowledgeable and efficient since I have never had any issues with the work performed. I inquired about a vehicle right after they listed, before they even had pictures of the truck. I asked for pictures and stated I'm very interested in the vehicle and taking time off of work to drive 10 hours to buy the vehicle in full upon seeing a few pictures of the vehicle. They told me it was at a body shop getting a dent fixed and would send a few more pictures once it got back on Monday. Monday come around and got a picture but not all of them at 2:18PM and was told I'd be sent more then another text from someone who I wasn't even dealing with that the vehicle was sold at 6:03PM when I had scheduled off Tuesday to drive down and get the vehicle and when I called asking about why it was sold they said "well someone came in and decided to buy it and wouldn't take a hold for a used vehicle." If I could give this dealer a 0 star I would based off reading the reviews of service and the buying process. Terrible customer service and communication, First inquiry first serve but no. Couldn't get me the pictures in time for me to make it worth the drive and then sell it from under me is ridiculous. read more

Worst customer service after the sale. There was no communication from the dealership after my purchase, I always had to initiate. Manager returned call once and in that call he straight lied about a part shortage. I did not receive a second key at purchase and was told they would search for it after 3 weeks I called and was told they were still looking. At no point is this really my problem the lost key falls on them, I was requesting what should have came with my purchase. I also ordered parts and was told that the shipment got lost on this call, again communication from them would have been the correct way to handle this. Was told the parts would be there in 3 to 4 days. I canceled the order and then three days later parts called me to tell me the parts had arrived. It took me calling and telling them that I was going to return the vehicle for action to be taken, though still the dealership has never contacted me. Only the locksmith to have a key made 1 month and 3 days after my purchase. Customer service and taking care of customers is management's responsibility and they totally failed me. Chevy and the locksmith verified there is no key FOB shortage. If what you said in the response really mattered then somebody would have reached out and proved you really cared about customer service and taking care of a customer on an issue that was no fault of their own. Bought ZR2 transmission fluid was to thick from factory had recall then when warranty goes out just after the transmission needed to be replaced so the advisor said. By the way the advisor heavy dude Michael I think was his name was terrible. Made me wait 2 hours just to tell me torque converter went out. He said I needed a whole new transmission. They were so busy in their service department( wonder why) I felt lied to by the advisor because later learned the fluid needed to be flushed. Transmission was going to cost 12k what a joke. I told that lying service advisor I was done with Chevrolet. I have never had any issues with chevys in the past but this dealership would not be a place I would EVER buy anything else. All due to that service advisor. Way to go modern maybe you should fire him he is lying to ppl and making the wait for no reason. I had a problem with the key sticking in ignition. Took it in they gave me a loaner called next day said it was ready. Picked it up and the next day same thing. Took it back to the dealership this went on three or four times. Lost my key fob they replace that. I told them the first time in I would pull shifter to low they back to park and I could get key out. After three or four time I lost count Service manager called and said they found a service bulletin and it said the shifter must be change. They did that and so far, good. I will not recommend Modern Chevrolet, nor will I buy any more vehicles from the Modern network. I tried the Modern difference, and I don't like it. Overcharged, dissatisfied with the experience. READ TILL THE END FOR HOW MODERN SOLVED THE ISSUE!! I'm a new customer and made an appointment for a general checkup on my silverado. First thing they did once I got there is scan the vehicle (OBD2) and pull up a report of all the codes (which should be free!!). Then i was informed that for a full diagnostic of these codes, that will be 4hrs of diagnostic for $700. They made me sign a paper, which I did then they started taking a look at it. They "found out" that the battery needs replacement which I had already shared with them since I myself had to jump start the truck to get to the dealership. They stopped diagnosing the vehicle to come tell me that my battery needs replacement and that it will cost $450. I declined that service and then told them that I changed my mind and would like to take it elsewhere. Mind you, they only checked the battery (which i already knew needs replacement) and ran an OBD2 scan (which should be free). From the moment they began "diagnosing" the vehicle till they told me that my battery needed replacement, didn't even take 15min. They ended up charging $211 for one hour of diagnostic even though the scan is free, even though they didn't take an hour AT ALL, and even though all they did was tell me my battery needs replacement which was pretty obvious for everyone. I'll be nice and fair by being willing to pay 15min of your so called "diagnostic", but I should not have paid $211. Absurd! I already talked to a service tech on the phone and I expressed my concern and dissatisfaction, and no changes were made. Instead he said, "I could've charged you the entire 4hrs but I didn't". What kind of customer service is that that you're willing to charge your customer for services that they didn't receive?? So please don't respond with "We value your concern as a customer, please call us back to resolve the problem". I don't need to call back, I already called and it didn't work. What I need you to do is for you to call me back and tell me "the problem has been fixed" or "the refund has been issued". In conclusion, I'm very dissatisfied with Modern Chevrolet and how they overcharged me. I will be disputing the transaction if you guys don't take any action to fix what happened. I purchased a 2016 Chevy Silverado from Modern Chevrolet at 5955 University Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 on Jan. 16th, 2024. I was told by the salesman that the truck is in good shape, has been diagnosed, tested, and that everything works as advertised. The salesman was great until two days after I had the truck, when he stopped responding completely. Within a couple of weeks I realized that the AC did not blow cold. Upon letting the vent run on a somewhat warm Jan. day, the truck started shutting off on me completely. I called and talked to the dealership, stating that, if for the AC problem alone, the truck is not as advertised. I dropped the truck off at Modern's garage on Feb 16th. I did not hear back from them until the 20th, and that was after having to call several times. They told me the truck needed an AC compressor and valve, and that the engine shutting off was due to some faulty battery wires. Their total was $2200.00 after the pathetic discount they offered. I reluctantly agreed and told them to fix it. That was Tuesday Feb 20th. They said they needed to order the battery wires and that it would only take a few days for them to arrive, and that in the meantime they would repair the AC, as they had all of the AC parts in stock. I was told then that I would receive an update call the following day. I did not. Nor did I on Weds, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Today, which is Monday the 26th, I had to call the service dept. 5 times with no answer from my caseworker, Spalding, the service manager, or the GM. Finally I receive a call from Spalding late today, informing me that the AC has not been repaired and that the battery wires were accidentally thrown away. He had no clue as to when the parts could be in stock at this point. They expect to be paid for this level of incompetence? I have a $400.00 monthly payment for a truck I've been out of for 11 days, with no inclination of when I may get it back. From the beginning, I've gotten nothing but the run around about this whole situation, and they have bared no responsibility to selling me a faulty vehicle, and issues that were easily, and shortly diagnosed. I have my doubts that they ever even properly diagnosed the truck when they received it as a trade-in. I thought car dealerships want to EARN your business, not drive you AWAY. We are a 5 vehicle owning family. They could have made a lot of money by owning their mistakes and making good on them. Instead, they drove off our business by not caring, having absolutely HORRIBLE communication, and incompetent, careless, mechanics. I went to Modern Chevrolet Saturday will all intentions of purchasing a new truck. I had been talking with someone via text and had a quote in hand. A few of the $$'s on the quote were wrong. Their website price had dropped 1K by the time I came in so I asked them to update the quote(it was actually 2k different from the quote I had been given) Next they didn't have the 1st responder discount added and the payoff on my trade was wrong so I asked for another revision on the quote. I told my sales person what I was willing to pay. Instead of getting the revised quote the sales manager came in with the same quote and said this is the best we can do evidentially not willing to revise the quote with the additional 1300.00 in my favor. I said thank you but no and left. We were 800.00 apart not the 2100.00 the quote showed. I feel sure I would have bought the truck has he just taken the time to revise the quote as requested. But wait.... there's more, I contacted the online sales person Monday morning to see if she would make the requested revisions on the quote from Saturday thinking maybe there was still a chance. My trade value had dropped 1K. I was very disappointed with the way they handled this situation. Maybe I wasn't supposed to notice the 1k price drop from the previous day. Maybe I wasn't supposed to notice the 2k price difference on the quote sheet vs their website. Regardless, it was not a stellar experience. When buying tires I found that I have wheel locks on my tire rim. I have only had my tires rotated by them, no one else has touched my car. I called in to see if they could help with my wheel locks. I was told that because I had not had my car serviced by them recently despite their customer service issues, they he would not assist me. I spoke with the manager yet again, nothing. I do not recommend that you trust the work that they do on your vehicle. This place is not morally trustworthy. I just completed the purchase of a 2019 Silverado LT new today from a large dealer in Florida. I live in PA, and needed a truck with certain options for my business use. Like most folks now I first went to the internet to locate a vehicle. Modern was the most frequent lowest cost and had a suitably equipt truck so I emailed called for more information.The sales gal Sarah I talked to put me in touch with Mike S. from internet sales. He sends me the cost of the truck via email which now includes a $2900 +/- dealer add on package. The quote also included all "potential" rebates including previous or current GM lease holder rebates. I drafted an email to Mike and again asked for ACCURATE pricing for an out the door price with out the "teaser" price tricks, explaining I was traveling from PA and was a ready buyer...I needed a truck within the week. All I got was crickets so I continued my pursuit of a vehicle elsewhere. Like several other reviewers, my advise is to avoid this dealership. I'm a pretty saavy vehicle buyer and when a dealer can't be straight with you up front beware. There are several dealers that add these expensive "packages" to the new cars when they receive them but don't add that onto their "teaser" price on-line. It seems they believe vague wording about "all potential discounts and rebates" allows them to show super low prices when they know NO ONE will qualify for all the "potential" discounts on their purchase. And then when you want the accurate pricing for your own situation they won't give it to you. That tells me they are a "get you on location" dealer to persuade you to buy. The dealer I purchased from also adds a dealer package but even with those items my savings was much better than a similarly equipt silverado LT from Modern. We came to terms over the internet and phone, showed up, test drove the car, signed the papers and were done! None of the typical dealer stress and back and forth with the sales manager. I seen a car (Honda CRV) I was interested in but it was at Modern Subaru in Boone. I told the sales lady (Liliana Diaz) 2 days before it was brought down here I do not want the $799 3m tint and door edge guards, and she said ok. After the car arrived here at Modern, I told her again I did not want the tint package and she said it was too late, they tinted the rear windows. After getting charged $799, I got home and learned that they in fact did not tint anything and immediately asked her for a refund. She said they can't do that so I got the 2 door windows tinted and the edge guards installed a week later. The paperwork says estimated at $149.95 for this to be done but I was charged $799! I feel I should be given my money back since I was flat out ripped off and lied to by the sales lady. I have all the txt messages proving all that I have written. Do not deal with this place as they are cons. I will be sure to let anyone I know to not buy from Modern, especially Chevrolet! no place should be able to charge $800 to tint 2 windows and put a few edge guards on! read more

I absolutely would refer anyone to Monty Hall if you needed to buy a car.....but get your service elsewhere! I had my truck in for routine maintenance and recall. I also scheduled to have my truck detailed. I was very specific that I wanted my truck (which is always clean!!) to be 'showroom ready' detailed. I paid the $150 and would have gladly repeated this every couple of months. I picked up my truck, drove home and detailed it myself. Every inside window was streaked....not a little.....a dirty cloth had been used. There was a section on the hood toward the windshield that had not been cleaned at all. I had pointed out a small spot on the side driver's visor - not touched! My tires were very shiny but that's about the best I can say about it. I set in my driveway when I got home and called back and ask for the Service Manager....he wasn't available but they would be sure that Doug would return my call. Neither that call or the one after that has been returned. My service will be handled elsewhere and I will continue to look for detail business that has a higher standard that Modern. I purposely waited almost 2 weeks to let some time pass to make sure I wasn't being trivial before answering this survey......I'm not....I'm still incensed over this. read more
