She took such good care of me that I felt comfortable enough to try a BIAB manicure for the first time. A chilled out £12 manicure on super short notice!? Yes, please. My nails be lookin' quite fine after a magnificent manicure, and a non-latte pick-me-up was had (I had already had about 8 coffees today so it was good I came upon this in my hour of need). ::::dances:::: Lisa whipped my digits into shape in very little time and I was on my way. The salon, which does waxing and nails, is very clean and well-kept with 3 manicure stations and 2 pedicure chairs. There are hand dryers that work! It is not crusty. The staff is welcoming and polite. They opened Summer 2014, and the digs are fresh. Interesting note: despite the lack of nail salons in London overall, there is a deep concentration of nail salons within 1 street of Modern Nails. I believe 5 total (Hula, Aura are literally next door, just to name 2). Kind of weird? I guess, but more for me! Maybe I'll try them all and report back. Was on vacation and desperately needed my nails done! I was able to make an appointment via email and they were very flexible. When I arrive the salon is easy to find and very cute. The woman who did my nails was so friendly and did a great job. My only complaint is a manicure doesn't include the little massage with lotion at the end, you put it on yourself. I like this place for a few reasons, and there are a couple things that could be better. They are nice, their pedicures are in massage chairs, and they do a good job. Their mani and pedis are thorough, and it's not too expensive (£50 for gel mani + pedi). I did go in here one time at lunchtime and it was super busy. They were not very realistic in telling me how long it would be. I made an appointment and upon arrival sat for almost twenty minutes. Then my gel mani started chipping after a week.. the second mani seems to be holding up better. read more

I have been here once and I am never coming back again. My experience wasn't the best, I went to modern nails 1 week ago and my nails look like ! I was very pleased with the result then but now they are literally peeling off at the sides and have already cracked. But before anyone comes for me you need to remember that this is *my* experience no one else's it might have been wonderful for you but unfortunately it hasn't been the same for me. I wish I could have had something different to say about modern nails but if you ask me I wouldn't recommend modern nails. WORST NAIL SALON I'VE EVER BEEN TO. So I went in to get my nails done about a week and a half ago, and was excited because this nail place looked really cool. First of all, I wanted matte black but when they finished my nails, they were still shiny, which was disappointing. Secondly, my nails started to chip and the polish peeled away, which has never happened to me before, and I've been getting acrylics for a while now and they usually last me 3 weeks without ever chipping or peeling away. Thirdly, one of my acrylic nails completely broke off, which is rare for me as well. Lastly, which is the worst of all, my right index finger has gotten infected, and it is super painful and very swollen. I had to go to another nail salon to get the acrylic removed just so it could start to heal. None of this has ever happened to me before coming to this place. I do not recommend at all, save yourself the worry and pain. read more

Went today for the first time for a gel mani. Everyone there was very friendly and the place was very clean. My mani looks great and I'm thrilled with he results. I had a lovely experience and am glad that I decided to go here. I went for my usual acrylic full set and I'm amazed at how natural they look and feel. I felt so welcomed since I'm visiting from out of the country, I was even recommended some cafes and streets to visit. This is a great salon. Always busy but the therapists will make every effort to accommodate you when you turn up without an appointment. Pricing is competitive and all of the technicians are excellent - a shellac mani or pedi at this salon will always last a little bit longer than expected. I hardly ever feel compelled to write a bad review but I went to Modern Nails on my lunch break today and it was just a really unsatisfactory experience. The man doing my nails was surly and really rude. All the rest of the staff were chatting away and seemed lovely so I'm not sure why he was so different. The manicure itself was completely slapdash. He spent about 10 secs filing the nails, if that. When I asked for more shaping he just made a few of the nails more square at the top instead of rounded. 2 of my nails look completely different from the others and they are all much too wide at the top. The painting is bleeding off the edges and not neat far too wide on the nail, he did not neatening or tidying up of the edges. I could have done a better job at home in front of the TV. I'm mostly mad at myself that I didn't make more of a fuss at the time but it was just such an uncomfortable environment to sit in, I won't be going back. read more
