My experience with Medical Pain Management was nothing short of malpractice. First, I was given incorrect information about anesthesia charges. I was told Medicare would cover anesthesia for a facet joint procedure. That is not true. Medicare does not pay for anesthesia in this case. I only learned this on the morning of the procedure, while sitting in a crowded waiting room, that I owed $136 out of pocket. There was no prior transparency or discussion. I disclosed an extreme intolerance to steroids and refused the individual cortisone injection that was recommended. Despite this, the doctor injected me not once but twice with steroids with a second recommendation of joint facet procedures. As a result, I experienced severe adverse reactions, including psychosis, persistent, untreatable yeast infections, and extreme hair loss, including my eyebrows and lashes. These symptoms lasted more than five months and significantly disrupted my life, including canceling two planned vacations. When I later requested the procedure without steroids, it did nothing to relieve my pain and instead increased my discomfort for days at the injection sites. I then underwent a wet needling procedure during which a nerve was irritated, worsening my condition and zero pain relief I ultimately had to plead the gate keepers to request pain management pharmaceutical relief from the Dr. In hindsight, seeking treatment at this practice caused significant, long-lasting harm. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice and would rate it zero stars if that were an option. read more

Unethical and inhumane treatment!! I notified them I would be having major surgery the following day and they forbade me from getting post op pain meds from my surgeon saying they would send it in for me. I believed them and had my surgeon cancel the prescription he had sent in. 2 days and many phone calls later- they still didn't send it in. They left me all weekend in pain after a major neck dissection! Btw, I've NEVER asked for or received pain killers from them- I only use them for my procedures. So it's not like they could say they were concerned about overprescribing. The MAs are rude and act like they're the doctor but can't even pronounce medical terminology correctly. The doctor seems nice and thorough but I rarely get to see or speak to him- his office staff seems to be the ones making the decisions and neglecting patients calls and concerns. read more

The doctor I have is okay, and is doing the best they can with my complex needs, but I was given a prescription that's had multiple lawsuits filed against it, known to cause memory issues and increase chance of dementia, which already runs in my family. Additionally, it took a week and a half (WORK WEEKS mind you) to schedule my first appointment because nobody answered the phone. I had to leave two or three voicemails to get a response as a new patient. I finally get an appointment. Then I arrive day of and the waiting room is like a cattle stall. 3 or 4 rows of chairs on each side, facing each other, with not much room for walking with assistive devices or a wheelchair. I waited in a chair with a curved back (hurt for days after) until an hour and a half past my appointment time, and I'd arrived 50 minutes early. To this day as an established patient, I can't get anyone on the phone to verify appointments or ask questions and it was only recently they emptied their voicemail box so it would be open again. If you need a doctor and don't have much else going on in your life that you can spend days playing the game, then by all means this is the doc for you. But if you work, have kids, or any other responsibilities and don't have endless time to waste, try the next place on your list. read more

Waited in waiting room over 2 hours-there's a girl named Kathryn up front who is the office manager who is aggressive and rude- they have 4 doctors so you'd think u wouldn't have to wait 2 hours- it looks like a bunch of addicts in the waiting room- very uncomfortable- will never come here again- horrible atmosphere- the building is hard to find and the front staff do t answer the phones for directions- not a good place The guy that does the swabs whispers where u can't hear him- it's really weird- he's scared to talk to people read more

With minimal consultation, I was scheduled for a epidural injection. I thought that my PCP had referred me to a clinic in network. The cashier said that even if I was they needed a $65 payment for incidentals that might not be covered by my insurance. When I showed up for the procedure on Wednesday 11/27, the cashier again asked for my credit card. When I asked why, she said it would be another $110. Reluctantly, I gave her my card again. I had the procedure and it has none me no good at all. If anything my condition is worse!. Then when I got home, I checked my CC bill. (Sh Nov 27, 2024 SQ *MODERN PAIN MANAGEMEN $265.64 Nov 22, 2024 SQ *MODERN PAIN MANAGEMEN $110.00 - TOTAL $375! Then today, Dr. Eapen was supposed to call me at 1PM for a "telehealth visit" When he had not called by 10 minutes after, I thought well maybe I was supposed to call him. So I did, but only got the recording. They they called me, the first thing they wanted was my credit card for another $110! Cheat me once, shame on you, cheat me twice,, shame on me! If the procedure did me any good, I probably would forget about unauthorized charges But it did not! I do not recommend this practice. read more

I scheduled an appointment to see Dr. Burnett at the dairy Ashford location on Monday, August 8, 2022. When I arrived I was told that the doctor was at the Memorial City location and that I could go there or I would have to reschedule. I was called later that day regarding my appointment the lady apologize for the mixup and said that the doctor would be in them. Ashford office on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. She rescheduled me for an appointment at 2:30 PM. Later the same afternoon I was called again and asked if I could come at 2 PM instead of 230 because they had an opening. I said I will try to make it for 2 PM however I chose 2:30 PM because that was most convenient for me. On August 10, 2022 at 2:05 PM I received a call from the clinic. The lady informed me that I was late for my appointment at 2 PM. I reminded her that I was asked to come in at 2 PM for their convenience and I told him that I would attempt to be there but I did not make a guarantee. The lady didn't proceeded to tell me that my appointment was really at 1:30 PM and the doctor couldn't see me. I was then placed on hold. The lady came back to the phone and said they would let the doctor know that I was on my way and she would see me when I arrived. Once I arrive and signed in the lady at the front desk told me that in order to go in the back treatment area I needed a mask and they did not have any. She then suggested that I look and try to find one. She then asked me to have a seat while she got together new patient paperwork that I was required to complete. Each time I spoke to these people they said "you should have received an email regarding your appointment." I was told this 3 different times by 2 different people. I was later called back to the front window. I spoke with a woman who identified herself as Helen who inquired as to why I was late I recounted the fact that I was not late and that my appointment was @ 2:30pm the time I arrived. Helen, then proceeded to tell me that no, my appointment was at 2 PM. Hello said I'm not calling you a liar but I records indicate that your appointment was at 2 PM. I interjected and said why didn't your people sent me an email for my first appointment that was on Monday and again for my second appointment that was on today Wednesday, August 10, 2022? Helen said she did not know why I didn't receive the emails. I told her that if her people had done their jobs and sent the emails this would not be a discussion. Because her people didn't send the emails with the appointment date and time now she got to say to me that I'm late. Again Helen said to me I'm not calling you liar but, not to worry the doctor could see me she needed to see the people who were on time first. I told Helen that I have other options. I told here there are other pain clinics available that could make an appointment, at the right location and send a confirmation email, and I would use one of them. If you are considering using this business I strongly encourage you to insist they send you an email with your appointment date; time and location! read more

Dr. H was good but office and staff Management are HORRIBLE. Save your money and go somewhere else! I'm still waiting for a call back about our prescription from 3 weeks ago, no calls back after 5 voicemails, our 2 month procedure price increased halfway unexpectedly because THEY had "made a mistake" Ridiculous! They'll charge $150 just for a phone call check up consultation, just so they can say to come back in and BOOM $150 more. Our appointment got canceled like 3/4 times within a 1-2 month period because of "emergencies". There was a 3rd party drug testing fee they didn't tell even tell us about. Good luck getting a call back or getting ahold of them. read more

I was referred to George Attalah by another MH Dr. after 6 failed attempts, voicemails I still am unable to connect for appointment. The voicemail hoops alone are very annoying, but failure to speak with a "professional" even more so. I cannot help but think if the Drs were aware they would shake up a failing system before you're even to get in. He is only a DO or id give it one more chance. This is not how I run my businesses and am shocked by lack of interest in tending to patients. It is a sad state and the principals are not even aware. read more

I am very disappointed with this doctor's office. I recently went there for a visit. They asked me for my co-pay. I handed them my AMEX card and they said "we do not accept AMEX." I told them I did not have my bank card because it was stolen and I only had my credit card. They told me that I could NOT see the doctor, which was very upsetting. I always pay my co-pay and they would not allow this one time, even though it wasn't my fault that they did not accept AMEX. I asked for 3 pages of my medical records and she told me I had to pay $30 ($10 per page). WTF! What kind of doctor is this so damn greedy for money. And, the girl at the front had a really bad attitude. You obviously DO NOT care about your patients. You ONLY care about money. I would not recommend anyone to go here. They are MONEY HUNGRY! and the doctor like to throw brand script name at you knowing damn well your insurance will not cover it. But yes, I did find his name listed as one of the doctors who accepts money from pharma companies for promoting their drugs. Quack! read more

Dr. Ngo is not only an extremely competent doctor, he's also innovative and compassionate. I had the pleasure of working with him years ago, so when i injured my spine my primary doctor asked me if I knew any pain doctors (I've worked with 15-20 as a surgical nurse) I immediately knew who I wanted to take care of me. He's seen me through one of the hardest times in my life. I would send my parents, children, and friends to him happily knowing they'd be cared for right. The world needs more people like Dr. Ngo!! 10/10 he's your guy! read more

I've been seeing Dr Atallah for at least 6 years now. I've seen lots of Pain Management Doctors but none that hold a candle to Dr Atallah. I have chronic back pain. Little to no disk in my thoracic and lumbar spine. I'm always in pain, but it's tolerable. When you always feel bad, it's nice to have a doctor that has an incredible bedside manner, is kind, gentle and caring. I can't imagine what my life would be like without him in it. He manages to keep the pain bearable. I've come to depend on knowing that he genuinely cares about not just me, but all of his patients. I've had the pleasure to meet Dr Harandi and Dr Ngo and find both men to be of the same caring nature. I can't imagine Dr. Atallah working with anyone that would serve patients less than his expectations. It is his Practice, and it is top notch in every way. The staff at Modern Pain Management are always Kind, Helpful and they go out of their way to assist. The Pain Clinic also speaks for itself the second you walk in you immediately see and feel the difference. No monkey business going on at this place. The DEA won't be busting in. No, it's all on the up and up. And thank goodness it is. Trust is so important. I'm so grateful I found Modern Pain Management. They are the best Houston has to offer. read more

The communication at the Frostwood office is terrible. My procedure was scheduled for a day I didn't know about, my follow up was scheduled without my consultation and multiple voice mails and phone calls go unanswered. I had to have my PT's office call to get a hold of someone. My discharge paperwork was a joke, it had no instructions on how to deal with any soreness or pain other than ice it. If my PT didn't recommend this place I would have gone elsewhere. Dr. Ngo seems knowledgeable and a nice guy, my procedure was done quickly without any discomfort. He's the only reason I gave this place 3 stars. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Harandi and Modern Pain Management. Dr. Harandi took ample time to listen to all of my issues, and unlike other doctors, was completely understanding and showed empathy for my condition. He showed me my MRI images, and explained how the radiographic findings translated into issues I'm experiencing. He provided me with instructions on what I could do at home as a patient to help, and provided me with referrals to reputable physical therapy locations. Dr. Harandi's bedside manners are excellent. He skillfully administered trigger point injections that I barely felt. The Modern Pain Management building is brand new and extremely clean. All of the staff members were extremely friendly. Being in the healthcare industry, I am able to attest that all COVID-19 precautions were taken at the office with adherence to transmission based precautions per CDC guidelines. I feel extremely safe at the office and completely trust Dr. Harandi and his staff. In short, Dr. Harandi and Modern Pain Management have completely exceeded my expectations, and I would not hesitate recommending them to any friends and family. read more

Shervin Google Sugar Land Kristen Sparks 1 review Based on my experience with Dr. Shervin Harandi, Sugar Land location. Waiting time is beyond what should be expected, two hours for me. Nurses don't know basic medical questions, such as why you shouldn't smoke alone after a procedure. If you have any anxiety about doctor's offices, this is NOT the place for you, they let me sit in a room panicked waiting for a procedure for over an hour and offered no solutions until I left, the doctor himself never spoke to me before I left. Then when he would not prescribe any addition pain medication as he "did me a favor" with one prescription, I was told it was because I had anxiety. I had never heard that, so questioned the reasoning. The nurse basically told me in the end that it was a "miscommunication", NO- that's a false made up medical fact and that there is not a reason someone with anxiety can't take pain medicine (just baffled a nurse makes up medical information on the spot). Wanted to ask the doctor, not with the expectations of getting medication, and he absolutely refuses to speak to me. He would not even speak to my husband when he went to the office in person. Bottom line, uneducated and rude staff, impersonal doctors, and this is not a pain clinic that prescribes medications if that is what you are needing. I have never in my life of seeing probably 50 doctors, regardless of the situation, had one refuse to speak to me. UPDATE: Dr. Harandi called my husband, after seeing my previous review, and said he would call me to explain what happened at my appointment, and prescribe me a pain medication. He called me, said I was "clearly upset, bye.", and immediately hung up on me. So at this point the situation is, he put me in a situation that made me upset, and because I am upset he is now withholding pain medication, after he told my husband he would prescribe it. Unprofessional, completely incompetent of dealing with patients. I was hoping he could answer some of the questions I had regarding the nerve block and that he would give me the pain medication to get me through until the nerve block was scheduled, as he had just told my husband he would do upon speaking to me. I called back and politely left a message stating I had calmed down, and would like to have a civil conversation and would greatly appreciate it if he would return my call. HE ONCE AGAIN NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. 1. Nurse couldn't tell me the procedure for an emergency, such as if he would be following up with me at any time or be my doctor at the hospital, or even which hospital I would be taken to 2. Nurses response "No I'm not taking a message, he knows you want to speak to him and there is nothing he can do for you unless you want to go through with the nerve block and he will not be calling you back", after I told her I had legitimate medical questions. 3. Based on number 3, they are pushing booking procedures that the doctor doesn't even have the decency to answer questions about 4. Was told him giving me the Rx he gave me was him "doing you a FAVOR", he told my husband that him seeing me when no other doctor would was a "FAVOR". No doctor has ever refused to see me, not sure how he and his staff make stuff up and act offended when you question it. 5. When I explained my anxiety and why I left after waiting for well over hour, all the nurse would reply was "No mam, you ran out after 30 minutes". FALSE. You may be looking at the time we paid before going into the exam room, but my appointment was at 9:15AM and it was right after 11AM when I got to the parking lot to leave. She just kept accusing me of lying. She said that to me five or six times. I was panicking the entire time, told staff that from the second I got there and brought it up multiple times. Kept being told the procedure would be soon, over and over again. My husband also walked out and found Dr. Harandi and told him I was having extreme anxiety. He never even bothered to speak to me. Dr. George Atallah treats me and several members of my family for various issues over the past ten years now -- he is truly amazing! He's a very kind and compassionate doctor that listens carefully to what you are talking about. He does not rush you and yes, it is a long wait to get to your turn some visits, but with this level of care, I just read my Kindle and do not complain. I know when it's my turn, I will receive the best help possible. He's also sent me to physical therapy and other related therapy places if I was willing to go and these have offered further relief. Whatever will benefit me he will suggest. Dr. Atallah is truly the best help there is! read more

The doctors may be great but the office and surgical center are horribly run. The first appointment at Memorial City we waited 3 hours. They said that happened to be an unusual day. Today, we are at the surgical center for a 10:00 appointment. They called my mom back at 11:15. Did the Pre procedure stuff then said it might be another 2 hours. Unacceptable. If these doctors want to keep patients I suggest they hire a competent office manager who won't over schedule. read more

I just had an amazing experience with Dr. Harandi. I have suffered from abdominal pain for a little over 5 years. I have had 5 abdominal surgeries and have been to roughly 24 different doctors and clinic's with no relief. I finally decided to seek management for my pain. It was the best decision I ever made. I am not disappointed. He listened to everything I had to say and we came up with a plan to get me pain free. I just had my first injection and what a difference. I walked in with a pain level of 9 and I am down to a 3. I can sit without pain and cough without holding my stomach muscles. He has given me hope when I had absolutely none. The office staff is very friendly as well...which just makes the experience that much better. I can't say thank you enough!! I would highly recommend Dr. Harandi to anyone who suffers from not only pain but specifically abdominal pain. He has a special gift in this area that I trust completely. read more
