Ultimately, the hassle with my damaged car became too much during a stressful time. This driver (may have) caused cosmetic damage that would need over ~$1,000 in professional repairs. Regarding the couch, it really isn't holding up well even though pets don't use it, we are considered light weight people, and we do our best to keep it nice. The pullout bed mechanism was either installed wrong, or there is a flaw that makes folding it back in feel pretty dangerous. So that feature (which was the whole reason we bought it) is basically unusable. With that mechanism being suspicious, we can't even give this thing away for free. If you want an expensive, cheap couch... shop at Joybird. The people at headquarters were helpful to an extent, but couldn't really help all that much. The in-store team is awesome, but can't really help with the issues going on.

Also felt good knowing that they don't price gouge you depending on who you are. Being a new member to Yelp, I hope this review finds people who were in my situation so they can learn the easy way about how great Modern Rugs is from the Yelp Community, instead of learning the hard way like me and my fiance recently had to do. A few weeks ago my fiance and I were feeling frustrated, discouraged and we were starting to lose hope in our search for an large area rug for our bedroom. We live in the upstairs unit of a beautiful Duplex in Carthay Circle which has all the modern art deco appeal you would expect, including hardwood floors throughout the apartment. The floors are great except for the fact that it leaves no sound protection and can be extremely loud for the people below you. We decided that the solution would be to get an area rug to dampen the sound. Well let me tell you from my experience that it is no easy task in LA, especially when you need to cover an larger area than 9 x 12. This all changed the moment we walked into Modern Rugs. First off I want to comment on how aesthetically beautiful the inside of the store is. It is very clean and the rugs are presented in such a way to allows you to notice each individual rug instead of just seeing a clutter of colors. What we also were very happy about was the surprising large selection of Modern Rugs. Most of the Rug Stores in the LA Cienega area seem to cater to the older generation with large lavish middle eastern style rugs hanging from window to window, which maybe my grandparents would have, but is certainly not for us. While gravitating towards the rugs that caught our eye we were greeted by Sasha, the owner of the store. While having gone through several bad experiences with pushy salesmen we were a little hesitant to ask for help, but from the moment Sasha greeted us we felt immediately at ease. The usual process of a haggling became one of the most enjoyable shopping experiences we have had since moving into our place. We sat in his office, which is in an open area of the showroom (not a little back room like some other places) and talked about designs, styles, and without even telling him which rug we liked the best, he had suggested the same one. We told him about our issue with needing a Rug that is larger than 9 x 12 (the standard size) and with already preparing myself that i would have to special order a rug that is oversize, and very expensive to get, he immediately came up with a creative solution by arranging the rug with two of the same rugs but in smaller sizes to make up the larger size. The delivery went very well, and to our surprise Sasha even came to make sure the rug fit our room, and that everything went as planned. With this being my first review on Yelp, I only hope I the rest of my reviews can mirror this one. read more

This is my first experience writing a Yelp.com recommendation. But, after the experience I recently had with Sasha at Modern Rugs La, I was compelled to participate in this great site. Here's my story... Preparation for a recent move, I needed to wash my rugs and get a professional recommendation about repair work. I contacted a very substantial outfit in LA and was left with the impression that they were busy, slightly pompous, and that I wasn't really that important. Despite their high marks, I decided to do more research and wound up giving Sasha a call. From that conversation alone, I felt more comfortable with my family rugs - and more respected as a customer. Meeting Sasha sealed the deal - he is a wealth of knowledge and experience, and possesses a level of customer service that one would hope to find, especially when dealing with valued personal possessions (or discovering excellent rugs at his store). The repair work was absolutely extraordinary and the rugs looked and felt like new. Their Weaver's work is astounding. If you want a hassle-free experience, Modern Rugs LA is your place. I have been searching for a rug for our new home for awhile. I had not been able to find anything, so I started searching the web for some recommendations and thats when I found Modern Rugs LA. So I dragged my husband down on a Saturday. An hour later we found a new rug and my husband was a happy man. They have a great selection of rugs and I couldn't choose just one! Sasha was great! We had bought the smaller rug but when we brought it home it was too small. We called Sasha, he told us to bring it back and he would have the larger rug ready for us. They normally don't open on Sundays but he made an exception for us since we told him we lived far away and would be in LA for the day. When we got there we started talking about going furniture shopping and that's when he told us he sold furniture as well! We walked out with some pieces of furniture and lighting and once again the hubby was happy he didn't have to go to another store! I have a new condominium that needs furnishing. It is a nice place, but I am not a big fan of wood floors, so I went to "carpet canyon" (La Cienega Blvd.) to look for some rugs. There are plenty of rug stores there (too many in my opinion) which makes it difficult to narrow down the search. After browsing a few stores I ended up at Modern Rugs LA and was happy that I did. The owner, Sasha, knows his business well and was helpful in navigating me through a great selection of rugs until I found a few that matched what I was looking for, in colors, shapes, and sizes. I recently moved into a new home and shopped around quite a bit. Modern Rugs LA not only had the best selection but also the best prices. I found a rug for my eldest daughters room that was perfect. Sasha was so helpful and even let me take his new samples home for the day to make sure it would work with the decor. No other store had as good customer service. He helped me look through literally EVERY rug that had the dimensions I wanted. He even put each one side by side, and by the window, to see how they look with different lighting. Not only that, he packaged the 3 I couldn't decide from and let me take them home, try them all out, and bring back the two I decided to not go with. In the store I showed him pictures of my apartment and furniture and he gave me recommendations based on that. All in all, I'd recommend him & his store 12 times over. I love supporting local businesses but this one absolutely has my vote! I have no doubt you'd be beyond satisfied if you choose them to find your rug!

I was previously taking my rugs to dry cleaner but Bijan explained how what they do is different for rugs. In the case of my dry cleaner, they charged more for less than stellar work.
