We came here from metro Minneapolis to watch a game. We were here in 2022, but the team was out of town. The ball park is unique as it sits on the banks of the Mississippi River. On one side is a bridge and another side, an amusement park with Ferris wheel and merry go round. I walked around a lot. The layout is graded up high, as you had to walk 20 steps up to it. The reason 4/5 stars is lack of good concessions. A couple of places such as a Mexican grill weren't open. The line for this one grill was insanely long the whole night. The Whiteys ice-cream did not have malt cups, supposedly sold out the night before. Piss poor planning for a crowd. I settled for Cheesesteak nachos without onions and peppers in a helmet. Also shared a chip witch or chocolate chip cookie with ice-cream between it. The stadium was really iconic and cool. The Ferris wheel lit up at night. Just work on better concessions with product and have more open. Review 94 in 2023. read more

Great ballpark and a great time. If I had any criticism it would be they need to upgrade consessions. If you want a beer you'll be waiting for a while in line and it's not very cold so drink it fast! John O'Donnell Stadium... I mean Modern Woodmen Park is the best minor league stadium in the United States. I am not exaggerating, they have won the award to state it as a fact. Going to Modern Woodmen Park is a must for any baseball fan. It is one of the oldest parks in the nation. Many MLB stars got their careers started here in Davenport, Iowa. This family friendly stadium offers a wide variety of entertainment for the whole family. If the great game of baseball isn't for you, check out the different amusement rides. The Ferris wheel is huge and gives spectators a glimpse of the field and mighty Mississippi River. The concessions have many great foods and drinks to purchase at reasonable prices. You won't go broke here like at a MLB stadium. Where else can you watch a baseball game, see river boats cruise the river, and hear trains fly down the tracks? As minor league baseball and its stadiums go, I haven't seen better. Heck..I haven't seen anything come close. We made the 2+ hr trek out for a Tuesday pm game. Tickets were BOGO tonight and they run this promo every Tuesday. There's a ton of things to love about this park. First, it's very fan friendly and intimate. Full price seats are great even for the best seats in the house, and they have several seating options to choose from. Although we sat in box seats, I really liked the stool & bar table seating that I saw along the leftfield side. They also have lawn seating, bleachers and even a super fan area down next to the opposing teams dugout that's situated on the actual field. You can also park you keister at a number of benches found all around the park. In addition to fact that you have an intimate look at the field from every seat in the house, the extracurricular stuff here really steals the show. If you have kids come prepared to let them do the rides and bouncy pits. If you plan to do more than two of them, knuckle down and pay $15 for the all-you-can-play bracelet, which allows the tykes as many visits/rides as they like. My guy wanted to do the bigger stuff which included the zipline and Ferris Wheel. Couldn't let him go alone so I did both as well. As food goes, they had your customary ballpark grub. Didn't see anything missing and we had our customary hot dog, pretzel and ice cream. Prices are par for minor league baseball. Seating puts you up close so a lot of foul balls go astray for the kiddo's. Players from both teams made themselves accessible for autographs and gave away balls on occasion. The last tidbit about this park is its ambiance. It sits on the Mighty Mississip and overlooks her beauty. You have a nice view of downtown Rock Island, the Rock Island Arsenal and the IL/IA bridge from most seats. Add in the huge Ferris Wheel past left field and downtown Davenport sits beyond that. The park is clean, the employee's are nice and there's nothing finer than watching the best game on earth in this type of setting. Oh..one more thing...I can't leave this out. They actually grow real corn in the stadium! I won't give it away, but look around for the rows and enjoy the site when you find it. It's Iowa-chic and a really cool and unique part of this unbelievably awesome park. Minor league baseball at its best!! read more

I came to Modern Woodmen Park to watch the River Bandits play against the Cedar Rapids Kernels last Sunday. My cousin's company has a suite and he invited several of my family members to come. The Bandits were unfortunately not playing their best game and didn't win this time, but that's okay. The beautiful riverside setting and excellent view of the game made my night. Food costs in the suite were unnecessarily exorbitant. $28 for a six-pack of beer? $30ish dollars (ballpark, HA) for unlimited popcorn for less than 20 people? That's got to be like a 95% profit margin. This isn't Wrigley Field, guys, make your stuff affordable. read more

This is a great ballpark... lots to do, but something is off. Upon entering, everyone is greeted by management, the owner, I think. Seems nice, but sort of feels controlling; once the rules of the house are announced over the sound system....lots of things you can't do. Every other ballpark I've been to tosses out used baseballs so young kids can have balls. This doesn't seem to happen throughout the game, rather one person stands on the roof of the ballpark and tosses a few out toward the end of the game. Feels controlling. Allow kids to enjoy the game. Lighten up The ballpark has awesome LED lights. Why not use them when a player hits a home run? Iowa Cubs do and it's a fun way to celebrate. Also, please offer gluten free options. My husband and I were visiting and managed to come on a free day! We had the best time, got front row seats, ate and drank to make up for our free tickets, bought hats and had a blast! We were here to watch the River Bandits play and were treated to the biggest lopsided win I have ever witnessed in person (18-1 in favor of the Bandits). This park is next to the Mississippi River so a beautiful setting. I thought the prices were reasonable and the food what you would expect. Parking is adjacent to the ballpark so very convenient. There is also some sort of amusement park next store but we did not check it since we were interested in the baseball. read more

If I were to pick a handful of spots in the Quad Cities to show an out of towner, this would easily make the cut. The area is lucky to have a minor league ballpark this nice. For all of the flooding the stadium has put up with over the years, it's easy to forget when you take in the view here. Just an absolutely gorgeous backdrop. An evening here gives a regular family the opportunity to have a good night out together, an opportunity rarely affordable at MLB games these days. The bleachers along the left aren't the most comfortable, but tickets are dirt cheap, and you get to see some talented young players working for a shot at the majors. read more

My boyfriend and I ended up in Iowa for a weekend, and didn't have anything planned but we saw there was a baseball game going on so we decided to stop by we were able to get cheap tickets. I really liked the Ferris wheel and video game room they had in there for the kids. The view of the bridge and city was very pretty from this location. read more

This ballpark is alot of fun to see a baseball game at. It's the perfect layout with a great view of the bridge. We had front row seats which provided for a great time. There is a Ferris wheel and another ride that people can ride during the game. How cool seeing everything going on from so far up! This is a great, fun minor league ballpark. We sat in the second row right behind the plate for $13 a ticket. Ballpark staff took our food and drink orders and served us at our seats, which was completely unexpected. The fans were enthusiastic, but well-behaved, and the many kids in attendance were attentive to the game, which was refreshing. The park is modern and intimate. We saw a well-played game in which the home team came back for a dramatic bottom-of-the-ninth win. It was a hot, humid night but the fans stayed until the end and were rewarded with a fireworks show. The right-field line offers a fabulous view of the Mississippi River and a huge bridge, impressively lighted after dark. Parking was free. Don't pass up this park if you love baseball. read more
