Also, you can only stay two weeks per month. In September you can stay three weeks. We are in the area for the months of June and July. The campgrounds were clean and quiet, and only $16 for the night. With little ones, it was especially great that there are clean, stocked restrooms. We really enjoyed being on the river at our site, but also the easy walk along the bike trail that connects to other parks. Overall, I highly recommend this site for easy, nearby camping.

The Google machine brought me to the visitors bureau. For $7 an hour you can rent a nice bike to use on the miles of trails surrounding the river. The bikes are new seeming Trek bicycles and you're offered the option of getting a lock and a helmet. There's also a water bottle cage in case you think you're going to get thirsty. The visitor's bureau is more gift shop than bicycle rental shop, but...there's a lot of neat stuff to see. They also offer segway tours throughout the week. I didn't have time or I would have checked that out, too. Definitely worth checking out if you're in from out of town and want to go exploring.

I can fix a chain and put air in my tires but that's the extent of my experience. They sold me this bike and I've used it on two RABRAIs. No issues whatsoever except I had my chain slip off the crank set. I'd learned to hold down the rear derailleur, shift gears, and crank the pedal to fix that. The point is, I've put 1,800 miles on this bike on too long rides plus recreational use at home and it still rides quiet and smooth. I live 70 miles away from the store. My wife determined that she would need a different size so we returned to try to exchange the unworn new shoes. This was during an extremeley cold and icy period of weather here in central Illinois. There were no other sizes of said shoes available so we just ask for a refund. Then we presented our receipt, only to be told that we were one day late for the refund of the sale merchandise shoes. 1 day! I expressed my displesure of the return declination and ws referred to a manager that gave me a scolding, but eventually accepted the new unworn sale shoes that did not fit as a return. I am appreciative of the acceptance of the return, but because of this getting dragged through the mud before acceptingthe return I have chosen to just stay out of this place and have not returned! Retail managers sometimes act like straw bosses when the owners give them a stripe on their arm and they think they are a general in the military. Rentals were $20/day with the recumbent bike being a little more. They spent the time to adjust seat height and handle bar positions in addition to installing water bottle holders which was great since we didn't have our own tools. I would highly recommend riding on the Great River Bike Trail which is right next to the bike shop. Head up north to Savannah and/or south to Fulton to see the Dutch Windmill. Our group had an great time riding and the sights were equally amazing along the trail.
