One of my favorite spots to go to in Parkville Market! Their food is so flavorful and the portions are also great. My go to is the Pernil (Shredded Pork) MofonGo - made with slow roasted pork with chicharrones, mayo-ketchup and salsa. I also recently tried their Papa Rellenos Bites - mashed potatoes filled with authentic 'picadillo' (ground beef). Unfortunately my phone did not eat first for those. I cannot recommend them enough.

I came here for my favorite Puerto Rican dish Pastelón. They only served it Fri - Sun. Not many places make and sell it, so I was more than happy to drive here for it. It is basically a Puerto Rican lasagna. MofonGo's pastelón is always delicious and I always enjoy it with some empanadas on the side. I had planned on trying more from this place but the Pastelón was usually my goal so I never got the chance. I can't remember which empanadas are my favorite so I always change it up. They sell chicken beef, pork, and pizza. Then the last time I went, they didn't have the Pastelón It was still on the menu but The girl said they just didn't have any plantains. I would have happily picked some up and waited lol it was early Saturday afternoon but A Puerto Rican restaurant with no plantains for the weekend sounded suspect. Definitely disappointing... It still shows up on their online menu on the weekends( but not M-Th) so thankfully that means they still sell it. Service is can be a hit or miss. Certain workers really aren't cut out for customer interaction. While everybody else is getting rice bowls, mofongo, and other popular dishes, that one little line on the sign at this location that reads Pastelón always lights up my life! Grab one to eat there and a 2nd one for home!

Pernil rice bowl will make you want more before it's even gone. Sweet plantain / maduros on the side are my favorite.

The spot here was crowded but that is only because of an event but if you don't mind a busy environment, then this is for you. The food is amazing. Pernil rice bowl will make you want more before it's even gone. Sweet plantain / maduros on the side are a must! The flavors at Mofongo are better than PR itself!! I mean it...

Is there a more provocative name for a type of food than Mofongo? It sounds like something out of a Netflix Cavalcade of Dirty Comedians Show. What is Mofongo? It's mashed up fried plantains that originated in Africa and moved to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico in the New World. A Mofongo recipe appeared in Puerto Rico's first cookbook, way back in 1859, and today it's become closely tied to Puerto Rican cooking and culture. MofonGo (note the spelling) has three locations in Connecticut, and I visited their Hartford store in the Parkville Market yesterday. I love spicy food, so how could I have possibly resisted a dish called Mango Habanero Chicken. It came with ether rice or mofongo, and I went all in with mofongo ($12.99) and a side order of Papa Rellenos Bites ($3 for two pieces). The Rellenos were terrific- fried mashed potato balls filled with 'picadillo' (ground beef). They were loaded with that ground meat The Mango Habanero Chicken was stupendous! Huge hunks of fried chicken in a Mango Sweet and Habanero Hot glaze that harmonized beautifully sitting on top of a mound of mofongo that reminded me of mashed potatoes. The portion was pretty big, and the half I had for lunch was pretty darned filling. One of the reasons I love Parkville Market is the opportunity guests have to try cuisine from every corner of the planet. Add Puerto Rican food to those opportunities.

I ordered the Mango Habanero Chicken Mofongo last night. I was there around 5:30. There was a fairly big line, but they worked through the line and orders fairly quickly. I actually had to drive through the main Parkville Market parking lot more than once to get a spot. Pro Tip - they have a couple spillover lots. I've previously commented on the Mofongo. The chicken had good texture. It was sweet and hot as the name implies. Delicious! My bites with both Mofongo and chicken were the best. Still 5 Stars.

The taste of food is consistent if you have been to the New Britain location. Mofongo was the most crowded when compared to all the other restaurants at Parkville. The Mofongo's from here has been consistent when it comes to taste. I enjoy dining at Mofongo.

I learned about this place and couldn't wait. It's in a market of other restaurants that are also good. There is parking lot but can get crowded. You go in the industrial building and make a right and they are on the right. Lots of options and I was going to get an empanada but it was so huge - save that for next time. Staff was very nice and all of them had a mask on while cooking. I ordered the mango Habanero chicken rice bowl and it was amazing!! So many flavors coming from this dish! It's enough to feed you twice. I thought the plantains should come with it but it didn't which sucks but well worth the charge because they give you a lot! The pictures don't do it justice and I will be back. Priced very decent which is always a plus.

This Mofongo is in the brand new Parkville Market. I believe it's the same owner as the restaurant with the same name on Main Street. My fiancé is Puerto Rican and she's been dying to try this. Not only wasn't she disappointed but she absolutely loved it! She has Bistea with yellow rice and gandulas with chimichurri sauce. Also tostones with dipping sauce. It was ALL excellent!!! She called it real, and really good Puerto Rican food. The market is clean, well managed and COVID compliant. Tables cleaned (outdoors) in between diners and hand sanitizers available. For now, seating is only outdoors and you have to walk around the building to see both sides of restaurants. Under normal circumstances you can walk inside down the center aisle and restaurants are on both sides. Love Parkville Market and love Mofongo!

This bowl was a little expensive for the portion size. The market was cute and had a bunch of different types of food in it. There's ample seating to sit in the middle. The service was quick. My steak was a little hard but overall the bowl was pretty good. I would definitely check out some of the other places in the Parkville Market.

One of the best feelings is going to a restaurant and having so many great selections you can't decide. I decided to play it safe and wanted a more authentic Mofongo combo and with pernil it didn't disappoint. Without salsa, chimichurri or mayoketchup this combo was still packed with flavor and didn't disappoint. On the other hand, my friend got the mango habanero crispy chicken combo and added chimichurri, mayoketchup, pico de gallo and she LOVED IT( Even as leftovers a few hours later). I tried a piece and the mango chx was delicious. I would post a pic but there is a Henny bottle in it BECAUSE this place is super close and convenient to bushnell park perfect for our quaint midday happy hour picnic. So excited about Parkville market but due to COVID-19 it's currently limited in exuding the true "food hall" experience. I appreciate the properly distanced picnic tables in their parking lot and we would've stayed if we didn't have picnic plans. In short - between the friendly, quick service and eagerness to try their black whiskey shrimp & rice bowls I can't wait to return!

So I've been a fan of Mofongo but lately the service has really turned a rotten leaf. The food always tastes great but the experience has given me a sour taste. We ordered two pernil rice bowls with extra sauce as well as sweet plantains in one of them. While waiting for our food, I was able to see them prepare the two bowls from where we were standing. First, they were low on rice so they didn't give us the full portion for each bowl. Next, they were also low on the sauce and just squeezed the remaining bit from the bottle instead of grabbing a new sauce bottle. After that, she capped the bowls and left it to be picked up by the customers. I was hoping it wasn't our order due to the lack of sauce but most importantly, I did not see her add the plantains to one of the bowls. When our name was called, we came up and they gave us those two bowls. I asked them if there were plantains in it and they said "yes I remember putting it in, they should be on top" However, this was not the same lady who assembled the order. Although she may have added it to the order ticket, the lady who prepared the order did not fully read it in full and missed the extra sauce and the plantains. I took out both bowls to show them that the plantains were not there and they insisted it was on top or on the side but it should be there. We went to find a table and inspected both bowls and low and behold--there was a lack of plantains from both bowls. I was so upset and kinda lost my appetite from the experience and just gave up because they kept insisting that they were in there. My sweet sweet boyfriend saw how visibly sad I was and went up to tell them for a third time that they bowls were incorrectly made. They ended up giving us the plantains. I'm not sure why the lady taking orders was so quick to assume that the order was made correctly when she did not prepare it herself. This could've been an easy fix if they verified with the other lady who made it but instead, gave both me and my boyfriend a hard time. Although their food may be good, it's gonna take some persuading to go back to the service.

Wanted a hot meal on a rainy day, so headed to Parkville Market. I watched a video about mofongo (mashed green plantain with yummy spices), so decided to try MofonGo. Ordered a Pernil Trifongo online - mofongo on the bottom, fried carmelized plaintains in the next layer, rice with peas, and roasted pork on top. It's a good sign when the server is stuffing the container and can barely put the top on. Portions are not a problem here! I had plenty for a second meal. The staff was friendly, but the food was the highlight. The pork was tasty and flavorful, and the combination of mofongo and fried plaintains satisfied my sweet and salty cravings. MofonGo and Parkville Market are new favorites on my lunch and dinner rotation!

Doesn't look like much when you walk by but Mofongo is a place with an amazing full menu. Authentic food and big portions for a good price. They are always busy and it's for a good reason! I've been to this location multiple times and all I have to say is the Beef Empanada is the best thing I've tasted and their bowl portions are enough for +2 meals. Attached is a photo of the Overload Rice Bowl. Parkville Market has a lot of options but Mofongo is a place to be on your list.

They have a good amount of seating available inside and great options to choose from. We did end up grabbing some made to order alcapurrias. All 3 tasted good but they needed hot sauce, lacking in flavor. I felt as the chicken one lacked the most flavor but was ok when hot sauce added & so did the pork one. I'll say that the ground beef alcapurria was my favorite out of the 3; although I still personally felt they all needed some hot sauce to add that kick missing. An alcapurria is a known Puerto Rican fritura/fried street food, growing up to even being an adult it's one of my favorite things if done right. We also had the bistec with rice, a side of beans, & a side of plantains. As well as the pernil with yellow rice. Both of these dishes lacked flavor, again needing hot sauce or missing something. The beans did have a good amount of flavor, which I enjoyed, & the plantains were slightly over fried. The visit itself was satisfying, I would return to give them another shot as well as hopefully try their carne guisada plate, which wasn't available at the time I went that day. I didn't give this business a 4 star rating simply because of the lack of flavor in mostly each item ordered. I would give it a solid 3.8 if I could.

One of the best, if not THE VERY BEST, restaurants in the local area. My only concerns: 1) I didn't see a bathroom, but I didn't need one ‍; 2) we could have used a knife for the pork stick, but we should have asked. The staff is extremely helpful. Wonderful designs, with lots of inspiration. Now for the food: - Chicken Steam Plate: Chicken leg, rice & beans, fried plantain pieces. Chicken super moist, rice was outstanding, & plantains were very tasty. - Beef Stew: very good, similar to Filipino Beef Mechado. - Pork Stick: great tasting pork - - for me, I would have liked a bit more "fatty" on my stick, but it was really meaty!!! - Beans were nicely done. - Smashed Plantains were served with 1000 Island dressing: probably just as good without the dressing. - Ground Beef Empanada: good, a bit of vegetables would have put it over the top (potatoes, onions, carrots, peas) - - but that's there style. - Chicken Empanada: ok, a bit salty for us. Enjoy!!!!!
