I love the Moge Tee in Tysons so I decided to pop by this location while in the area. I think this is an OK spot. I noticed that the pick up spot was all the way in the back and the only indicator was a handwritten note on the wall. They made our drinks and left them back there not telling us they were ready nor did they tell us where pick up was (I thought it was only for UberEats/DoorDash). If only the handwritten sign was more clear. I decided to order the new tea, Royal concubine with boba, and it wasn't great. It tasted weird and I've had tea mixes but that mix was not good. The bubbles are a little tough to chew and the mango tea is pretty icy to the point where it's a bit tough to taste the mango flavor. Along Wisconsin Avenue surrounded by a BBQ shop (Rocklands), historic stores (Pearson's Wine and Spirits) and Uyghur food (Eerkins) is a small tea shop selling a diverse menu of...well...tea. They have milk tea, fruit tea and even cheese foam tea. (What the what?) If you love tea, it's worth a visit, especially on a hot day. If you have kids, start across the street at Guy Mason Recreation Center's epic playground and come in for a cold drink. On a Friday afternoon, I stopped in for a large milk black tea with boba. Due to the pandemic most of the inside is closed off except a little corner to order. You can walk in, place an order, and wait outside with the pager you're given that buzzes once your order is ready. I've tried the Brown Sugar bubble tea which was a nice mix of cold tea with hot brown sugar, the Rose bubble tea, and the Crémé Brûlée bubble milk tea which was so nice and smooth to the taste! None of the teas I listed earlier were overwhelmingly sweet and I really appreciated that. However the Brown sugar was a lot sweeter than the others with the brown sugar bubbles. I've also tried the Taro bubble milk tea but unfortunately I didn't quite like that, mainly because the milk powder didn't mix well with the tea. You can order online and it will be ready on pickup, or you can go inside the store which is blocked off all but the small front area at the entry. They have hand sanitizer on the table, and menus so that you can place your order there and they'll bring it to the front. I liked the bubble tea so much that I went there twice in a matter of two days. I was driving by that area a lot, and just couldn't resist. The first time I went I got my reg. black milk bubble tea with 75 percent sweetness. That was delish! The second time I came back, I opted for the brown sugar milk tea (which they were actually out of the first time), but had the following day when I was back. It was SOOOooOO good. I've had it twice, once at Tbaar. I think Tbaar's is a hair better... but just a hair. Now, I'll be honest. There were no options to alter sugar levels, but I found that the drink was surprisingly well balanced. I heard about Moge Tee from a friend in New York and found out they have locations in the DMV so I decided to try this place out while I was in town for a convention. If you're here, definitely try the cheese foam drinks. This trend has already taken off on the west coast and is making its way to the east. I went twice that weekend and got the Dragonfruit tea with cheese foam, which was very delicious and fresh tasting. The second time I got the Cheese foam Uji Matcha which was also a great choice. They're full of flavor but not overly sweet. Prices for these cheese foam drinks area a bit steep though but the quality shows. The saltiness of the cheese compliments the sweetness of the drinks very well. The atomsphere is very laid back with minimalist decor which is refreshing. I definitely think this fits a niche for this area and is a strong contender against Kung Fu Tea, but doesn't necessarily replace it. The decor looks super chic which I love. There's a round table by the window, and in the back is a table for 4 and a couple tables for 2. This would be a phenomenal place to get some work done if you can lock down a table. The menu is on the creative side - they push the cheese foam drinks which I love. Price point is higher, but so far I think it's justified by higher quality teas. A lot of the staple teas and milk teas you can find high 4s/low 5s, but the wallet killer are the fruit teas - cheese foam dragon fruit is a whopping $8.75, so I hope it's amazing! I opted for the earl gray cheese foam at 50%, which I found had a great feel that wasn't overbrewed, and lower sweetness helped contrast with the foam. Other options on the menu include sushi, and some desserts in the form of dorayaki and soufflé. While I wouldn't see myself coming everyday, out of sheer convenience of proximity and just good teas I'll be coming back. read more

Really really good boba here. I enjoy how fresh all their teas taste and how it is evident they make an effort to have a more innovative menu different from any ordinary boba shop. I got the matcha mochi tea which after tax was almost $9. While pricey, it was well spent of course as it has a default large size and already comes with red beans. It was really enjoyable, especially as I got to the end & could taste the matcha really prominently. It had a slight salty taste to it which definitely elevated it quite a bit. My friend got the mochi taro tea and I actually really enjoyed trying hers because it had taro purée inside, not powder like most shops use. That was pretty cool, I personally really enjoy tasting fresher things in my boba, the more natural sweetness really shone through. However that of course is not for everyone, as it did add texture that some might not find super enjoyable. The pearls themselves were cooked pretty well and weren't too hard or too soft. I definitely recommend going here if you're able to spend a bit of money. They also have parfaits which look really good as well. I have been craving for what I refer to as "flavored fancy tea". With limited options during Covid-19, I am ecstatic that Moge Tea is still available for delivery. At about $7 a pop, it is a bit pricey compared to the ones I typically get at Eden Center, but the quality of the products are worth it. I ordered Watermelon Tea and Green Tea with Mango, both with jelly added. Both drinks were on point. Not too sweet and I can taste the fresh fruit juice. Whoever coined the term "cheese foam" should have been stopped. The closest way to describe the topping would be a whipped cream cheese topping, but more airy. Its texture is similar to Starbucks' cloud foam. I always mean to try other menu items, but I simply enjoy the dragonfruit one so much that I end up picking that every time. I like that fresh dragonfruit is used in the drink, which justifies the higher pricing for me. I had a free weekday and since I haven't been drinking much boba, I decided that it was time to attack my bookmarks and make my way up Connecticut Avenue and Moge. This was one of those Hotter Than July days and so I wanted to make it there early, i.e. when it opened so that I could go on about my business on foot. Both Yelp and Google put the opening time at 11:00 and I was there at 10:59 and it was dark inside. The clock struck 11 and that made no difference. I decided to push off. I went to the Post Office down the street and returned 10 minutes later and nada. Boo! After eating lunch and reading the day's Express, I made it back shortly afternoon and finally the doors were open. What struck me as odd was that there were about 4 or 5 dudes working there so I guess they ride to work together or come late in solidarity. I placed my order from a menu I liked. A bunch of stuff I never had, all the better. It was Cheesefoam foam with Boba for me. While waiting for my drink I checked out the spot and did not like the décor at all. A lot of plastic and plasticky looking things. They should head over to Frutive and see how live plants go a long way. That or some sleek metals, cool pictures something. It didn't take long for my drink to be ready and when I sat down and saw this clear tapioca pearls I was about through with Moge right then and there. The drink itself was interesting and I don't regret ordering it at all but it didn't change my feelings about the place. I am sure if I loved my drink I would let them slide on opening late, since they keep late night hours. I didn't try any of the tea drinks because it was late and I didn't want to consume caffeine that late (tea has caffeine). So I got the mango ($6.50) and taro ($6.50). I'm really disappointed in bubble tea drinks when I can make them better in my own kitchen (which I do). I mean, did it taste more "fresh" with higher quality ingredients as promised? Sure. But do I really need that? Nah. You can also see how little boba they put in the drinks. I also got a taro minced pork sandwich ($6). This wasn't what I was expecting. There weren't any pictures of it on yelp yet. Similarly, I have the ingredients myself to make a better taro pork sandwich and it wouldn't be near $6. The bread quality itself was dry/old, at least spring for the Asian-market type breads? Everything tasted basic. I love how many options they have and that they have some very Asian teas such as rose, osmanthus etc. Those choices are very hard to come back in in DC. The other unique quality of this place is that they have "cheese foam." Do not be afraid because it has the word cheese. It's essentially like any other whipped foam you get at like Starbucks except it's thicker with a slight sea salt aftertaste like when you sea salt a chocolate cookie to contrast and highlight it's sweetness. I got the cheese foam rose milk tea. I thought the drink was okay. The cheese foam was pretty good. Just remember to mix it in. I didn't think there was enough rose flavoring so it tasted like a normal milk tea. I enjoyed it still. I got boba with it. I believe that needs work. The boba was hard. Love this spot for some quality tea. Stopped by here on several occasions for the matcha foam and some strong coffee. Their flavors are so unique and in high demand that they sell out. This location recently opened and you can't find quality tea within miles. They get really packed, but don't expect a long wait here. This is one of my favorite boba places! If you haven't tried the cheese tea, you're missing out! The cheese has a bit of a salty taste with creamy cream cheese. It's almost like a liquid cheesecake! My personal favorite is the strawberry cheese tea with regular bubbles. They ran out of regular bubbles, so they gave me white bubbles without even asking. They said that the white/crystal boba tastes the same as regular boba, which isn't true. They both have completely different textures, and I personally think the regular is a bit sweeter. I would have preferred them to ask if I wanted a different topping rather than assuming I wanted the white boba. Other than that, it was great as always! On the menu it claims to allow you to specify your sugar level but since it was our first time we didn't specify assuming they would just make the drinks at the regular 100% level. Well, I don't think they could contain less sugar than what we got. Mine supposedly came with bubbles but there were maybe only 10 in there and they were not good. Bad consistency, looked very overinflated and again zero flavor. The taro drink felt like drinking a full cup of plain mashed potatoes because there was so much puréed taro but hardly any milk tea. You had to really stir it yourself to blend it. The only reason they get 2 stars is because the cups are awesome and they used fresh taro not powder. I found myself to enjoy their peach oolong tea! Unfortunately, they won't let their customers just order plain fresh brewed teas! Instead, they charge their customers for a "cheese foam tea" or a "fresh fruit tea", depending on the base tea used in the recipe. It doesn't matter what plain tea I order, I end up paying them $9-$11. When I asked them to charge me just for the tea instead of a "cheese foam tea", they told me they aren't able to do that. It's just poor business practice to take advantage of a customer this way. So, I drive 15 minutes into Arlington or Downtown DC for Gong Cha or KungFu Tea, where customers are charged $3-$6 for any drink they want. A fantastic boba shop with a lovely aesthetic and absolutely gorgeous teas. Their teas are pretty expensive in comparison to other shops, but they're definitely worth the occasional indulgence. I also love that Moge Tee actually uses fresh fruits in their teas, rather than the syrups that most other boba shops use. They're also one of the only spots in this area that offers cheese foam, so if you've never tried that before, I'd definitely recommend coming here to try it out! read more
