Absolutely banging soup dumplings! I came here for dinner after work last week and I cleaned house! The restaurant has plenty of seating with nice/calming vibe. I like that I can use the QR code to place my order without rush. The servers who brought the food though were very friendly! I got the cucumber appetizer, the soup dumpling sampler, plus a set of spicy pork dumplings - all were DELICIOUS! I like that they have a lot of boba options that aren't caffeinated like the kumquat lemonade that I tried! This spot is a 10-15 minute walk from work so I will definitely be making my way back there again!
I was looking for lunch before I went to meet some friends for a bar crawl. I decided to check out Soupy Dumpling on 14th St NW! I came in and I like that they separate takeout orders and dine-in (if you do the former you go to the register if the latter you pick an open table and scan the QR code and pay when you're done). I ordered the Chicken Soup and Crabmeat and Pork Soup Dumplings. Both were incredible! Full of soup and I used the chili oil provided at the table for some spice! Combined both cost me about $29. Great spot would come again!
We came more for the fancy Cuppa tea experience than the soupy dumpling side of things. We just wanted boba and a place to hang out before a play. Ordered the Oreo boba to share and it was genuinely delicious. Weirdly, it gave me an immediate throwback to Ithaca's Utea. Same exact cup, same little heart (oh, Ithaca lol). The drink itself was really well done: creamy, satisfying, and the Oreo added the perfect crunch and extra flavor without overpowering. Portions are huge for the price (there's only a large size), so it definitely feels like a bang for your buck.
Better than you might expect from the outside - have been here a couple of times to get a quick bite to eat before a show, and have had great experience each time. Staff is friendly, the food arrives quickly, and the price is right for the area. There are several seating options, including larger tables in semi-enclosed alcoves. Dumplings are great - and at this price point you can sample several. Non-dumpling dishes are very generous. Spice level is quite mild.
Found this place on a whim and decided to stop by for a quick lunch with a friend. Let me just say the food did not disappoint! We loveddddd everything but the soft tofu noodle dish took the trophy. The service was more self service. You come in, sit and order through the QR code. The food is brought to the table and when you're ready for the check the server will come by to close your tab. The prices are reasonable. The portion sizes are good. You'll be glad you came and excited to go back to try more!
DC is not known for its Chinese place, but this place is actually Chinese, from the kitschy atmosphere, the slightly odd and tech-heavy service model, and the cuisine. I was sent to a table to order by myself with a QR code, and I sought a fruit tea with jellies which was delicious, as well as their offering of ma po tofu over noodles. The vegetarian/vegan options are a minority of the menu, and in particular I would have liked to see some dumplings without egg, but it's enough variety to be worthwhile for me. My noodles arrived with some al dente bok choy, with tofu in a preparation that delivers the astringency a proper rendition of the dish should, along with delightfully springy noodles. When it was time to check out, it was abundantly clear that the staff I interacted with at least were actual Mandarin speakers. The overall food scene in DC still needs more varied and regional Chinese cuisine, but given that the old ma po tofu place that graced this neighborhood is gone, I'm glad someone has picked up the torch.
If you are wanting to check out a nice place with the option to get Soup Dumplings and Bubble Tea, this place is for you! Inside consists of a vast amount of tables and booths to sit from where they all have a table sign with a QR code to start your order. Alternatively, if you just want bubble tea or soup, you can order at the counter or at the touch screen. I ordered Honey Green Tea with 50% sugar with crystal jelly (boba when you place the order ) and thought it was a nice refreshing drink to sip as you wait for your order. It was quick, I was able to get my drink within minutes of ordering with out any issues. I also ordered The Lucky Six Soup Dumplings. While they are in different colors, each Soup Dumplings contains different ingredients where one is pork, one is pork/shrimp, one is chicken, one is truffle, one is scallop, and one is crab meat. I had the pleasure of trying each of them out with a side of soy sauce and vinegar. Can't forget about the ginger too! I really enjoyed this but I do not think I'd get it again. The experience of trying each and every soup dumpling felt more like a one off thing on a bucket list. I would come back here the next time I'm in the area. I have so much more food to sample!
Really enjoyed our meal here! The chicken soup dumplings were the highlight because they were filled with so much flavorful soup. Sichuan Hot & Sour Noodles had a nice spicy kick and the chicken fried rice was definitely one of my favorites, The bok choy was cooked perfectly without being overdone, we also enjoyed the chicken chili wontons with chili oil. The service was great, and our server checked on us regularly. The ambience was nice too, but the funniest highlight was the little robot server rolling around the restaurant. It definitely made the experience more memorable.
We absolutely love the bubble tea here! On this occasion we got the Taro Latte, the Coconut Smoothie, a Thai Milk tea and an Oreo Black Milk tea, as well as some pan fried pork buns. The drinks were spectacular! Kids gave each of their drinks a 5/5. Having tried all of them, I'd say the best were the Thai Milk Tea and the coconut smoothie. The taro is more on the sweet side, so I recommend asking for it a little less sweet, since it's easy to ask for more sweetener if you feel it needs more. The cups are so cute too, definitely reusable! The staff are really friendly and they even have one of those robots that take your drinks to your table. The restaurant itself is really cute, super clean and the bathrooms impecable! Definitely a great place overall!
To be honest I had low expectations with this place because of the name, but don't let the name fool you. The food is pretty good. We tried the shrimp fried rice, the clear broth beef noodle soup, & truffle & pork soup dumplings. The fried rice & dumplings were pretty good. The beef in the soup was pretty good, but I would've preferred a different type of noodle. Overall, a nice place if you want dumplings. Just keep in mind, it's street parking only.
The flavors were quite good and I liked the addition of crunchy soya beans. But quite oily. The food was good, but nothing exceptional. The bokchoy tasted very strange. Good ambience and quick service.

I came here on Christmas Day in the evening for dinner, and I was honestly so impressed. Since I didn't have to travel out of town, I decided to stop by -- and wow, everything was so delicious. I ordered the soup dumplings, steamed egg, rice, and a Thai tea, and I loved every single thing. The service was super friendly, and the ambience was beautiful and relaxing. I really enjoyed my experience and can't wait to come back. Definitely recommend if you're looking for authentic dumplings in the D.C. area!

I found this place on tiktok and I love soup dumplings, soup and boba. This place has it all! Coming inside there's a counter where you can order drinks and food to go but if you plan to dine in, you just sit down at any available table and order from the QR code. The restaurant I very clean and the decorations are really pretty. We ordered soup dumplings and noodles and our food was ready really fast. I ordered the veg spicy and sour noodles and they come with an egg and crispy pieces of corn and a lot of boi hot which I love. The flavor was spicy with a hint of lime for the sour flavor. My husband ordered the beef noodle soup and he said it tasted amazing. Our chicken soup dumplings were full of flavor and a lot of broth inside. This place is really similar to Yu noodles which is one of my favorite places so if I'm ever in the area again I would go to this place for soup dumplings. I am a sucker for dim sum and love it when I can get dumplings at a restaurant serving dinner. I got very excited at the prospect of this place in DC. It did not disappoint. Great use of robot technology for table deliveries. Online electronic ordering both added to the experience. Food came as ordered and was dispatched quickly. The spicy fries perfectly seasoned and cooked and the chili wontons were perfect. I had to pace myself so as to save room for the main object of my desire..... The dumplings. They arrived in steam baskets and were intact. I took time to savor each one deriving the flavor notes of each. I was pleased with my choice. The restaurant has a very contemporary but simple vibe and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Overall this is worth my 5 star rating read more

So delicious. We enjoyed the pork soup dumplings, chicken soup dumplings, crab and pork soup dumplings, steamed bao, potstickers, fried rice, and boba drinks all around. The flavors were bursting in every dish. The restaurant has a lot of background noise so it was a bit hard to hear but the quality of the food made up for the noise. read more
Updating to note that upon return, I still find the noodle soup excellent. However, I tried the xiaolongbao and wasn't very impressed. They were fine but weren't very soupy and I didn't find the flavors distinct in a good way. I probably wouldn't order them again. read more

What a fun experience! On the same block as my daughter's chorus practices, she always asks if we can go inside. Tonight, we did and she loved it. First of all, the space is big with plenty of seating. Service is friendly. But the highlight for my daughter was the robot that transports takeout bags from the back to the front. To eat, we ordered the cucumber salad, pork soup dumplings, fried pork dumplings, and a mix of soup dumplings. We devoured them all. The broth in the dumpling is full of flavor! read more

We were super impressed by the seaweed salad (amazing flavors and good portion) and the brown sugar rice cake (crispy outside, warm and chewy inside, delicious brown sugar drizzled). Potsticker dumplings (port and cabbage) were mediocre. It was nice that you can just sit down, order from the QR code and food shows up. Would love to try the pan fried dumplings next time! read more

They have a variety of soup dumplings on the menu plus other dishes as well though let's be honest, with a name like Soupy Dumplings you know I was only looking at the soup dumplings! I tried the crab and scallop ones mostly to see if I could taste a difference. Flavor wise they were very similar which worked out because they tasted amazing! Definitely hit the spot with the colder weather. I also ordered a strawberry black tea with boba - I appreciated that they give you options for the tea base (green, black, oolong) since I tend to prefer black or oolong over green tea. Highly recommend the spicy beef noodle dish, the broth was deep with flavor and nuance, the beef was perfectly cooked. Friendly staff and excellent service. First time trying this restaurant and was not disappointed. I was in between this restaurant and next door Jinya and ended up going here and let me just say I don't think I will ever go anywhere else. The food was amazing, the customer service was excellent, and the place overall was very clean and presentable. I would recommend trying the Spicy pork wontons in chili oil. CHEFS KISSED! I now think about them 24/7. I also loved the Tonkotsu Ramen. Please try. Boba was also amazing! I would recommend trying an appetizer, plate, and one of their drinks. 10/10 recommend. read more
This place is great! Just the name... they had me at "soupy". I tried this place for dinner with a friend, and we both enjoyed our meal a lot. It's so bright inside and you will see this beautiful Chinese wall art. You scan a code to look at the menu and order from the table. I actually like this system, that way we can order and start eating quickly. Our food didn't even take 10 minutes. I had the noodle dish with minced pork and Bok choy. It was slightly spicy and addicting. The dumplings were soupy... and so delicious. It's a real deal. 10/10 ! read more

**If you are DINING IN, sit down and scan the QR code.** everybody I saw come in after me made this mistake walking in, thinking you order at the counter then sit down to eat your food. The counter is only for TO GO orders. It's unique but honestly I kind of like it! After you eat, you signal your server and let them know you're ready to pay. The wontons were yummy, the chili oil wasn't spicy at all. It was very flavorful! It was just a quick bite to eat, but I wish I ordered more! The milk tea was nice, however I got 75% sugar, which I regret now, thinking it might be too sweet already. The 100% would've been perfect! Definitely recommend! You also get to see the cute kitty robot in action going throughout the restaurant, delivering food to tables or running errands for the workers read more

Super pleasant staff, very clean and beautiful interior. Unfortunately I disliked the soupy dumplings. Personally all I could taste was oyster sauce and it overpowered all other flavors. The cucumber kimchi was perfect- spicy and crunchy. They do spears instead of slices, which is great. read more

Got the lucky six dumplings, chicken soup dumplings, and the chicken and chive pan fried dumplings. sooo good. the soup dumplings were kinda messy to eat, but tasted so good and so healing on a windy day. also got the honeydew milk tea and the rose milk tea. never had honeydew as a boba flavor before but hello it is my top 5. the inside is super cute and super clean. staff was really friendly and quick with everything! read more

Affordable, fast and tasty! Can't beat it. Soupy Dumpling & Fancy Cuppa Bubble Tea is great for a quick lunch break. There're plenty of seats and it's relatively quiet. We enjoyed their chicken and pork soup dumplings as well as the chili cucumbers. Everything came out quickly and tasted delicious. We will come back to try their boba! read more

I would not recommend the soup dumplings (ironic as that's their name) bc the bottom straight fell off when we tried to pick it up and all the soup spilled out Thought the dry noodles were good, and their soup noodles could use a tad bit more flavor. The food is sooo good!!! I was looking for some dinner after a long day and a coworker recommended the Soupy Dumpling to me. I stopped here for a quick bite but was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food. I ordered the pickled cucumber side dish. It was flavorful and spicy. As my main course, I order the golden brother with wontons. The wontons were delicately made and served in a delicious, flavorful broth with tons of flavor and protein.
