Unreliable and poor communication. I received an email on 1/14/23 informing me that kids ski lessons were cancelled for the season (lessons were suppose to begin in 7 days from the post on 1/21/23). Our family already invested in season passes, rentals, and it's unknown if we'll get a refund for the registration fees for our concurrent adult and child lessons. Now we're out the cost of equipment rental and season passes and still are unable to get into a ski school :( Don't sign up for Mohan even if you see 500/500 spots available. In full transparency, I have been teaching for Mohan for 8 years. When my kids were young, I had them at Mohan and I taught for a couple years. I had to stop but promised myself I would eventually teach again. That was my starting journey with Mohan. Yeas later when my kids were in Middle and High school, the school participated in the Friday night Mohan bus program. I chaperoned the ski bus for 8 years and as soon as my kids were out of HS, I started teaching. What was the draw to Mohan? They really care. Now some of the issues identified here were out of their control, some were in their control and have been addressed. We strive to ensure our students, young and old, have a great experience with Mohan. You have to understand how hard it is to staff 120+ instructors for a 1 month training and 2 month instruction season. Last year I could not teach because of a pinched nerve in my back. It was like not being able to see my closest friends, really family, for a year. Today was the first clinic for instructors for the 24-25 season and it was like coming home. So while we have issues, like other business, we strive for an exceptional experience for our Mohan family and our students. Every year we have students from other ski schools join the Mohan family. Some even become assistants and then instructors. We have multigenerational families that have been with Mohan as instructors and students. We have a lodge on the hill, Pot luck Saturday dinners, HS age instructors can spend Saturday night at the lodge. Each young instructor has a chore in the morning, so we are instilling responsibility and accountability. DO NOT RECOMMEND - UNRELIABLE AND UNRESPONSIVE. We enrolled 2 kids in a ski program in September 2021 for a program that was supposed to start 1/30/21. On 1/26, we received an email notifying us that lessons for BOTH kids are cancelled as they do not have an instructor for either of our two classes. They sent us the cancellation notice FOUR DAYS before the start of class - what a joke! At this point, all other (reliable) ski schools are full, so we paid hundreds in season passes & ski rentals for nothing! I wrote several emails to the Mohan office and their CEO Nif Stimmel with no response. Calls to their office end up in a voicemail box that's full. Do yourself a favor, save yourself the stress and agony and go with a different ski school that actually follows through on its commitments, and does not leave its clients high and dry. read more

Signed up our 6 year old for his first season of ski lessons. I admit we didn't get an early jump on registration and many of ski schools had already filled up. Thought we lucked out when we discovered Mohan who still had spots available. After reading the reviews there was some apprehension but with limited options decided to go for it. Being this was his first year we made the rounds and got him equipped with all the gear and a seasons pass. Kids going to learn how to ski... Great! After some back and forth with Mohan (email and phone) they confirmed lesson details would be sent 1/26 for lessons beginning 1/30. Seemed like a tight window but OK. On 1/26 we received an email stating there was "system error" and canceling our lessons due to capacity issues. Understand these are challenging times and labor/staffing constraints are very real. That said, canceling 4 days before the class is scheduled to start is just bad business. read more

DO NOT SIGN UP your family here! We bought lessons for 4 in October of last yr. They cancelled 1 child's lessons 1 week before they were supposed to begin!!! We had spent thousands more in rentals and passes! I tried to work with the ski school to find alternative. Their CEO Nif is completely unhelpful and rude. It's truly been a bizarre and futile experience trying to even try to work things out with them. Even the ski school itself is a complete madhouse. We went there to see it and it was complete chaos. They have kids as teachers, they are trying hard, but not what you expect when you're paying this much in group lessons. read more

Sent our kids there for 3 years. Loved it first year, experienced instructors and know how to deal with kids any age. Second, year it wasn't to bad. However, our 3rd year we sent our 5 year old there and she ended up in class of 2 teenage boys as instructors! Who obviously didn't know how to work with little kids. Our daughter picked up a lot of skills fast outside of class and ended up waiting for kids to get on their feet up on the hill the whole time. Kids were scattered up on the mountain, seating and waiting for instructors. This was lesson 3, I've contacted office, spoke with instructors they wouldn't transfer her to another class and ignored all my emails. They would only go 1 or 2 times down the hill. If they went second time they were late to parents pick up area. Such waste of money and time. Boys did try their best though. 2018-19 winter was our last winter with them. read more

I enrolled myself and my 2 kids for lessons on 3rd Jan, 2022, when their availability for the times i was looking for was showing to be in 20s. Lessons are to start Sunday, the 30th. I didnt recieve the instructions to obtain seasons pass soon after registering, as told in the email. I waited till Jan 12th, sent them an email requesting seasons pass purchase instructions and recieved a response with insturctions, including my registrant ID and lesson signup emails, etc. I found out from a friend (also enrolled in their lessons) on Jan 21st that there was a lengthy email with instructions sent on Jan 7th, which I never received. After a couple back and forth emails and several phone calls trying to get through to their office manager, she tells me that even though we paid, we are not signed up due to a computer glitch. She cannot do anything about it as all their classes are full and they will "graciously" provide a full refund of our fee. I was LIVID. What about the seasons lift passes and equipmental rental/purchase expenses we have incurred in thousands of $$$? She didnt effing care about anything. She stuck to her point that it was a computer glitch. How can it be a computer glitch and you dont recognize it when providing me my registration info several times in these last couple weeks? She then simply hung up on me and sent me the refund email. What the F am I supposed to do with the $$$$ seasons lift passes (which are non-refundable) and nowhere else to enroll in classes this late in the season? I AM SO LIVID, that I could punch a hole in the wall. read more

As many parents have already expressed their disappointment with Mohan ski school due to lessons being cancelled at the last minute, I wanted to put the emphasis on the unprofessionalism of the front desk lady in the Mohan office . Not only on several instances throughout the year she sounded irritated , short fused and in a bad disposition , but her lack of compassion , patience and sympathy while asking her explanations about why lessons were getting cancelled on such short notice, resulted in her hanging up on me . Her blasé attitude and inadequate customer service are the reflect of a poorly and badly managed company where the unresponsive leadership provides no guidance to its staff and fails to communicate to its loyal customers. Lack of concern from the CEO herself who simply ignored me and didn't have the common courtesy to return my emails regarding staff feedback and refunds . Impressive way of running a business ! I have been going to this school for 2 years with 4 family members so I have seen a lot of instructors and operations in general. I would give then a zero if that option was available. First the positives 1. Affordable cost for 6-7 classes 2. Instructors are generally good - although I have seen 2 terrible ones Now the negatives: 1. Terrible mismanagement - Classes are reassigned, canceled - I get it that COVID related absenteeism from enrolled coaches is a real phenomenon. But this is a .com org with 100s of students and they should overhire. (Hint to management - think yield management from airline industry since 1980s). Another Hint - talk to large restaurants and businesses who have similar problems, but better outcomes. Covid is not going to go away - get your basic act together and stop wasting time and money commitments from 100s of students. 2. I was told they canceled nearly 99 students for 21-22 season 3. Terrible communication and clueless staff - 2 days prior first lesson - they emailed us that classes are canceled - except they did not inform us which of the 4 members I enrolled were canceled - so what do you do as a family? Haul everyone to the mountain and figure out on the ground which ones were canceled 4. No coordination between staff - more cluelessness on the ground. Imagine being assigned coaches for all 4 family members 2 days earlier and not having any information after a. registering for the class months in advance b. spending monies on equipment, passes and c. spending time to commute to the mountain. 5. AT the end of the day - I still could not find which family members were canceled. 6. Non responsive office - I email the office 2 times to get clarity on which family members got canceled and which ones remained - still waiting on any response for more than 48 hours now. 7. No customer-centricity from Phone support - so then I called their phone number - the staff who answered laid out a litany of issues from coach cancelations to computer glitches to card information not being right. Seriously - this is how a company serving 100s of customers is run? My advise - if you want value lessons while relying on your "luck" that you get what you paid months in advance - go for it - as I said - some of the coaches are awesome - if you can get them. I strongly recommend against choosing this school for your children. We sign up our twins very early and ask them to place them on the same class as they need to support each other. They didn't place them in the same class, as a matter of fact they didn't make the most minimum attempt, they don't even bother to take a look at how their class is grouped. They are lazy, careless, and negligent. When we called them, they said that the computer does all the work, that they don't care, there are no changes, there are no refunds, try to tell us how we should raise our children, then insulted us, and hung the phone on us. read more

I've been learning to ski with Mohan for the last three years and I've also volunteered some of my time as their a non-profit company and I wanted to help them. I've had some great lessons with some incredibly patient instructors as I'm what you'd call a timid skier. Learning to ski is one of the hardest things I've learnt in my adult life but the staff at Mohan made it fun and gave me the confidence to believe I could do it even when I felt like I couldn't. After having a horrible experience with a competing ski school (see my other reviews) I asked around and was referred to Mohan. The sign up process was extremely easy and all done over the web. I called in several times to communicate with them as I was signing up 5 children at once and wanted them to be in the same classes if possible (divided by age of course). The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star rating is that the first day of school we arrived and two of the kids I registered were not on the list and were unassigned. They quickly took care of it, and even though we were not in their book, they got the kids set up with teachers and they got a full lesson that day. As the 7 weeks progressed, my 4 yr old and my 9 yr old became more and more confident in their ability and their skill level increased markedly from one week to the next. I was very impressed how they managed the varying learning paces of each student. I think at the end of every class they meet and pow-wow with each other to determine each students progress and then place students with similar skill levels with each other so no one student is holding back the rest of the class. By the 4th week the classes were pretty much established and we got to know my son's teacher, Noah, very well. He is a great instructor and very patient with the little ones. I was very impressed with the maturity and responsibility he demonstrated when instructing my son. I hope he is there next year. I will be using them again next year to help my son's skill level increase and I am looking forward to working with such a professional organization again. read more

It is Business 101 for any company that they should put their friendliest and most empathetic people to answer questions from customers and resolve their issues. And at Ski Mohan they have chosen to have the rudest "Karen-esque" person ever to ever answer a phone !! I thought it was just me who faced this, but the previous comments seem to confirm that this is same for all other callers too. This is simply the worst customer service i have encountered in recent times. a well-managed company with screw-ups in emails and abrupt changes in schedules, with no apologies or such. Signed up for ski lessons through my sons middle school. I went the first night and it was unorganized chaos. No signs or direction from instructors as to where to go. My son missed half his lesson while we tried to figure out where he was supposed to be. Later in the season he missed a couple lessons due to an injury. When he went to his final lesson he was turned away by the instructor due to their "attendance policy" - so my 12 year old was sent to ski alone on the mountain instead. What a huge disappointment in a company and humanity. Don't waste your money! read more

Our kids took lessons during the 2016 winter. They were happy and had a great time. The instructors, though young, seemed to be well engaged and prepared. My kids learned a lot and had a great time. The 2017 winter was amazing. Mohan did a great job with my kids. By the end of the year, my 6 and 8-year-olds could truly ski the whole mountain. Very impressive. It has it bumps as it's a non-profit, and family operated, but I give them high praise. I would highly recommend. My gripes are really with the Summit's operation of the more beginner lifts and the ridiculous lift lines that form at Summit Central. Also if we could get rid of the climb up the hill to the lodge I would be oh so very grateful! read more

We love this team/Mohan! My boys have been taking skiing lessons through Mohan for three years. They love it. They are the type to not stay with an activity, they are young, and they happily keep coming back to ski lessons. They have learned to ski and are progressing to become confident skiers. I started lessons this year (the staff are great to make sure I can drop off my kids and then get to my lessons) and have improved more than ever before. I'd tried lessons when we go up to Whistler and it helped. At Mohan,the feedback and adjustment to my needs and my class needs has helped me feel so much more confident about my skiing. More than ever before. We had different levels of skiiers in my class and Mohan has bent over backwards to have other instructors join our class to help out, and then split us into two classes to make sure we all get what we need. They continually monitor us...and we've had the benefit of great feedback, to be able to watch our amazing instructors and learn from what they do. I wasn't sure at my age I'd want to keep skiing because it tires me out. I'm learning to ski more smartly and to use less effort..and have more fun. I credit Mohan for really working with me to help me learn that. We chose Mohan because most ski schools don't have certified or formally (monitored) trained instructors. I would have assumed all would have to. Other places won't tell you that or might have their own simple training. I wanted people who really are trained well to teach skiing. This year was my son's first year taking lessons with Mohan. At first, we signed him up for too easy of a level. By the end of class his teacher was cheering him on and moving him up. What an ego boost. Our son was so proud he received an award ribbon. He loves it so much he keeps it in his pocket for every lesson. As a parent and an educator I was impressed with the care and individual attention our son received from his instructor. Our son looks forward to his lesson and says it is the best day of the week. In the past weeks he has progressed in safety and form. He talks about what he practices in class and then shows us on free runs. I am impressed with his new respect for the hill and other skiers and snowboarders. Well done Mohan! You have added another fan! read more

I contacted Mohan in early November to set up private lessons for my 3 kids. Mohan came recommended by a friend. I was immediately contacted by Sean who enthusiastically told me he was get back to me in December when they started scheduling. He asked what my preference in days were and I responded. Felt secure with our winter plans. Since I did not hear back I reached out again only to be told: "I recieved you email about the private lessons. I haven't forgot about you but I am extremly busy. At this point if you still want to schedule private lessons for your kids, weekends are very booked for the rest of January and part of Febuary. If its possible to schedule the private lessons for a weekday Monday - Thursday we can accomidate you much sooner than next month. Please let me know what you would like to to do and some kind of availablity and we can try to make something work." I responded and still have not heard back. Our first yr with Mohan and so far we are very happy. After two disappointing seasons with another ski school, we decided to switch. Mohan came highly recommended. I don't know all the instructors names but want to personally give a shout out to Brad who when introduced to my daughter immediately knelt down to her level and spoke to her directly. It's the little things that make all the difference. Lauren, Gabby and other staff were so kind and helpful in placing our oldest in the right group. They seem to have a really great system of getting the kids in just the right level group. They can really fine tune. Every interaction with staff has been a positive one. They've even inspired me to be a Mohan instructor next yr! I feel we are getting excellent value. read more

This is my daughter's 6th year skiing and I registered her for a level 3/4 with Mohan Skiing and Boarding. I was concerned that she might be in the wrong level but when I spoke with her instructor he told me that she was just fine. As a family we often spend a lot of time skiing blues and black runs and our favorite location to ski is Summit East. My number one goal with putting my daughter in lessons this year was to build her confidence and have her move from wedging on difficult terrain to being more parallel all the time. We missed one lesson, so after 4 weeks of lessons she is making the most beautiful Christie II turns and is confident and adventurous during our family ski time. I especially love that she is having fun with her instructor and they are learning and perfecting the skill of skiing because I know she will be safe when she is not skiing with her parents. I can confidently state that it is a non profit organization that strives for the best service they can provide to students. As a potential instructor, I went through thorough and demanding training with permanent reminders that I was there to help students succeed. Don't do it! It's a rip off! Last year we had a terrible snow season. We were sent an email that offered us a refund or a credit for the 2016 season or a tax credit, but they left no way to let them know. I tried contacting them thru email and phone, via their website and could not get a hold of them. Message system soon told us the office was closed. We were out our refund. Finally when the season started, they send me an email and I had asked them about my 2015 refund and they told me I was past the deadline of getting it. They told me it was in my spam box, which is never checked. Why would I? They told me the office was closed. I know they are a 501 c, but they ripped me off. They offered a credit or the tax donation. But since my kids are to old I had no other choice but consider it a donation. Don't use them. It's a rip off. Spread the word. read more

Same experience as Rocky G. We signed up for lessons for the 2015 season. After a terrible season, they offered refunds but there was no way to contact them as their office was closed. I contacted them in the fall of 2015 but their response was always very vague and that they will get back to me "as soon as they can". I tried to contact them through January and February but they were now in the middle of ski season and were too busy. They never contacted me again and now their office for 2016 is closed. I normally don't post reviews, but I had such a bad experience with them, I decided to create an account in yelp and post a review so that others don't make the same mistake. I had the Worst experience ever. If there are negative stars, I would give negative stars. I had to pull out of the training in the middle of the session. I signed my son for the ski class mainly because I signed up little late in the season and all other classes were sold out. What a mistake. My son has been going for Ski classes for four years now and this is the fifth year. They put my son originally in Level 6 based on what I have told them along with his age kids and kids of his experience. First class, they take the children to Magic Carpet!!! Magic Carpet!!!. While on the magic carpet, the instructor decides to move him to really little kids. Arbitrarily, they move him with little kids. Came to know at the end of the class from my son that they just went on Magic Carpet for the whole class. I tried to reach out to them asking why did he get moved. First of all, you can't talk to them because there is no phone. Only email. After several email exchanges, they come up with lame excuses justifying saying he is not experienced. I asked them to reevaluate with a different instructor. They wouldn't do and arrogantly says we can get out. I finally got fed up since he was not learning anything and took him out in the middle of the session. What a waste of money. I signed him up rightaway with the Summit Learning Central as they started a second session and I found openings. What a huge difference. They put my son in the Black / Blue level which is where he is and way more than the level 2 ski mohan put him in. He got to go to the Central Express several times in the first class itself and got a chance to go on very high bumps and had lots of fun. He was so happy, I felt like I should have pulled him out of Ski Mohan sooner. Other things to worry about, these guys are more expensive than other schools such as Summit Learning, Ski Masters (even though they are supposed to be non-profit). They put in 8 kids for each instructor where as in SLC it's more like 4 or 5. That's a big difference, because most of the time the instructors kept waiting for the kids to get on to the ski left and managing 8 kids. If a class is cancelled, you need to go to their website and constantly check to realize the class is cancelled. Ski Masters would send a text message / email if the class is cancelled. The two hour classes, they always start at least 15 minutes late and come back 5 minutes early. Total waste of money and precious time. read more

Same experience as multiple reviewers here, make sure you click on the lower reviews as well before deciding with Mohan. We followed all of their procedures to request a refund after admittedly a poor ski season last year. They conveniently said that we didn't follow "their procedures" in order to obtain a refund. Even though we followed it to the letter. In addition their office is never staffed with anyone and they are impossible to reach, my guess is on purpose so that they can provide the same terrible customer service to everyone and not just me. In addition, even though the season was terrible, I had friends with their kids at other ski school that still attempted to make the best of it and went out and at least tried to have a few lessons, we only had one, while others I know had 4-5 lessons. Bottom line, terrible customer service, and frankly lied about their procedures and policies in order to not give us a refund. I would never recommend their business to anyone. read more

What a rip off. We thought long and hard about signing my daughter up for Friday evening ski lessons and bus ride to the pass after school. Not only was it a nice chunk of $$ but we also had to rent her gear for the season and buy her a $100 helmet. As we all know the season was awful and she had only one of her five lessons and that was on slush. And then the season ended and MOHAN disappeared, no emails. no answering of phone calls......Finally in mid-June I get a tiny check of $187.50. Their refund policy specifically stated that refunds would be pro-rated based on # of lessons missed plus a $50 processing fee. So if that's true they still owe me a few hundred dollars but guess what....they are claiming "circumstances beyond their control" and have no intention of issuing full refunds. So basically they somehow spent our money even though there is NEVER a guarantee of snow. Not only was the way they handled this very unprofessional but they are thieves. Anyone want to join me in a class action lawsuit? They basically broke their promise on the refund and stole our money and the money of countless other families. NEVER ever do business with these scum. read more
