Always enjoy my time here, but it really feels like the Casino's golf course to push as many high rollers thru as possible every day. It's a beautiful course, but for the price (without a high tier Mohegan Sun relationship) it's a little disappointing that you always feel both rushed and held up throughout the 18 holes. Combine that with the fact that it feels like this course has been incomplete for several years (changing holes, fixing bunkers, etc) and I wonder where these prices come from. If you're friends with a gambler, it's a beautiful course for the free round! read more

I've been playing golf at the same place in Ellington since I was a kid, and I've played with my dad hundreds of times. Despite the fact that I could play the course blindfolded with one hand tied behind my back, i've always lost to him. At times by just 2 or 3 strokes, but a loss nonetheless. Enter Mohegan Sun Golf Club, where I somehow managed to play the best 9-hole round of my life, my 44 besting my dad's 47 this past Father's Day. Yes, this review has been in draft form for some time. Never played here before. Comparatively challenging course. Will I be able to replicate this majestic round? Who knows. Have I brought it up more than once since then? You bet. In any case, we all managed to get a tee time here for the low price of free.99 thanks to a very generous, "anonymous" Soar card holder. Without her, this would have been an extraordinarily expensive round of golf. The Mohegan branding adds a pretty substantial markup compared to other courses in the area. Overall, this course is pretty difficult. Hills, hairpins, small greens, water, and plenty of areas for your ball to vanish into thin air with just a slight slice. Club selection very much matters here, so take the extra 10 seconds when making your decision. The sand traps, in all of their magnetic majesty, were hard as a rock, which made my two beach shots fairly challenging. The greens were quick, and in places, a bit bumpy. Connecticut has plenty of golf courses. If you don't mind paying twice what you should and want a moderately maintained challenge, have at it. If you're a boss that can Soar, or are a boss by association like we were and the play is (or is nearly) free, there's no reason not to enjoy a round. read more

Always a good time at Mohegan. They have been rebuilding some greens this year so I am looking forward to playing the course next year.

We just spent two days playing this lovely, old course. The greens are diabolical in their size and undulations, but the Greenskeeper knows where to put the pins so they are fair. The 6th hole will test your intestinal fortitude. The natural beauty of the course and the surrounding area made for good golf. We found the staff to be outstanding. Bob met us at the car with a cart and directions to the lunch shack on the course (clubhouse closed due to Covid 19). He could not have been nicer. Heather at the starter's hut was very friendly and accommodating. Greens fees include range balls and the practice green gets you set for the course. We had a great time! read more

This review is based solely on the fact that they have a $50 military deal. (+$20 for cart). Positives: course was in very nice shape. Layout was pretty fun. Negatives- Gas carts, why!?!! Employees were not the kindest nor were their attitudes. None seemed to want to be there. if I could give 3.5 stars I would, but seeing as how 70 bucks is still pretty steep, they lost the benefit of the doubt. read more

Great course, newly redesigned club house. Greens are tough but fun, though they are still maturing. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Greens fees are a little high but you get free range balls to hit and a very nice practice area. Highly recommend that you visit this course at least once; it would be better in the summer once the grass matures a little. read more

Me and 7 of my friends golfed this course today. Really nice course and well maintained. Don't know what all of the complaints are about with the staff - they were all very nice to us. Particularly the young guy in glasses (wish I could remember his name) who seemed to be the boss. He took care of us and went the extra mile. read more

What a huge disappointment. After hearing about all the millions that were spent on the course, and paying $125 per person, I was expecting a much higher-end experience. When you pull up to the poorly-marked course, nobody greets you at the bag drop--get your own clubs out. Get into your loud, old gas cart and drive to the range to hit off mats. The clubhouse is renovated I'm told, but it is nothing special. The course was, truthfully, fun to play. Wide fairways and huge greens. It is not in good shape, but it is late in the season and it looks like they just punched the greens a few weeks ago. It was a slow round (5.5 hours) but that is to be expected on a friday afternoon. Little annoyances were everywhere, like the ball washers were empty, the snack shack was out of hot dogs, and the guys working there were screaming to each other all over the course. There are much better places to play near the casino that are probably a lot less expensive. read more

We have golfed here a dozen times and have let the little things slide, but now I am writing my first review. First of all if you want to golf on a very expensive, well maintained course with a variety of difficult holes this is for you, so long as good service and good pace play are not part of your requirements. The past three times this summer we have played the play was extremely slow. Our Starter, same guy every time hates his job or he translates that feeling with his sour puss which is cemented on his face and his body language that would intimidate ISIS. It took 3hrs and 40 mins to play 9 holes, We sat and waited at least 10-15 mins on EVERY HOLE. so we gave up, along with others who just don't have 8 hours to play a round of golf. When we were all asked why we were leaving after 9 and we told them the pace was way too slow, the Marshall which is the same Jolly guy as the starter came over and he just stared at a group of us said not a word and drove off in another direction. We could tell the very nice cart guy was embarrassed and apologized. A course that charges up to $125 a round plus cart fee should not need to have it's course flooded with golfers all at the same time and when you have less experienced golfers jamming everyone up they should be directed to speed it up a bit. Why the snack shop is rarely open and there is never a beverage cart on the course is another mystery. We will probably go back and try again but not expecting much and are hoping to be surprised. Maybe we can even get a smile and a hello our of the starter. read more

We came here on a Wednesday in mid June. I had high expectations, as its associated with a casino that portrays class and quality. The carts were loaners as their new fleet is on order (which I didn't know initially) and my first impression was sad, solely based off the cart. We went to the range and you cant hit over 200 yards. They have small chipping area and a small putting green. I did enjoy the layout of the course however they had many areas damaged and not marked under repair and the majority of bunkers were in very poor shape. We came upon several coolers with complimentary water, yet no ice. After golf we had lunch in the bar, which is very small and unappealing. The food was good. We then decided to play another 9 and Due to cart situation had to wait for someone to come off 18 in order to get another cart. Replay $50 for 9. Thankfully our original 18 was complimentary, but i was not impressed and cant believe Mohegan attaches their name to this place and charges $100 plus to play there. If not all in, ditch the golf course and focus on your nice casino. read more

WOW (in a negative way) $125 and really Worth $45 at best. Golf carts have no GPS and furthermore score cards have no pictures. The grounds were ok, the layout was poor, you are shooting completely blind into hazards that would be impossible to know existed, until you advance. Very frustrating the range has mats and allow irons only. The range balls were all duds, the snack shop closed , the pool was empty not a concern to me but, add to the dismay of this place. Not what I expected from a top notch casino. Save your $$$ Foxwoods/lake of isles is 100 times better. read more

Played there on a stormy day. Never played there before. First words out of the mouth of the club house cashier was, if you set foot out there, no rain checks. How welcoming. With this type of treatment I expected the course to be high level. Nope. Burnt grass on rough and fairways with fungi on greens. Drainage issues on greens. Played the afternoon round so only paid that rate. Not worth 140 or the 85 I paid. Maybe the head pro there should play lake if isles and see what a course that charges that much looks like. And how they treat people and then hire staff accordingly. Won't be back, unless it was a cheaper rate. read more
