A great place to spend an afternoon in San Andreas! It's located not a quarter mile off Hwy 49 in the newer section of quaint San Andreas with all of the amenities of a major modern library... ample parking, internet access, newspapers and periodicals, a wonderful children's reading and play area, and a fantastic Friends of the Library sale room. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly assisting with everything from searches, book orders, and even extra time on the computers if time allows. Speaking of computers, internet reception in this mountainous region of the Sierra Foothills isn't great, spotty at best and this library provides numerous computers with reliable dedicated connections for the use of members and registered visitors. The selection of books is good with a larger focus on young readers, fiction, and crafts but books may be ordered from other libraries in the county for free or from other counties for a nominal fee. My favorite area, the Book Sale room is constantly being restocked with tomes of all genres: hardback, soft cover, and collectible periodicals in good to new condition and at great prices. Often bags and bags of unsorted books will be stacked against the walls for the die-hard treasure seeker. A good selection of VCRs, cassette tapes, and the occasional DVD are also available. In the hallway before the Sale room are tables stacked with freebies. Comfortable seating arrangements are available throughout the main room offering quiet socializing or private reading. Large conference rooms are also available for meetings, gatherings, and lectures. For convenience, the bathrooms are large and pristine, located both in the library proper and in the hallway within the building preceding the library itself. The lobby carries pamphlets, brochures, and information on current events and services offered in the county and local area. Besides all these great services, there are boxes and bags near the building's entrance of magazines for all readers, most of which are current. Take as many as you want! If you live or visit the San Andreas area and in need of a good read, computer access, a place to bring the kids, or just to while away the time, the main Calaveras County Library is an ideal place to spend the day. I highly recommend it!

I remember my mom taking me and my sister there during the summer to check out books. We used to check out the same books over and over again because we loved them so much. The library is no longer located in Cedar Center. They have a beautiful new building which is larger than the library I used to go to. A new building for another generation of Arnold kids to develop a life-long love of reading. :)

Sadly, I had several documents…read moreI needed printing so, the El Dorado County Library, i.e., the EDC LIBRARY has available modernized computers you may use as well as printing documents which by the way, is completely a Godsend. Ahhhhhh~Yes, I do hear the Angels' Choir . . . However, I never applied for an EDC LIBRARY ID Card so, I decided I'll apply for an ID Card on my birthday which just so happens to be TODAY~YAY: I was given a short library card, application form which I copiously completed, submitting my CDL, signed the application, and gave my application and CDL to the awesomely cool Librarian. Afterwards, the Librarian escorted me to the computer station giving me succinct instructions using the computers. IMPORTANT FYI: When you're ready printing your documentation-whatever you do, DO NOT PRESS CTRL + P; unfortunately, using this shortcut will truncate your document printing only the first page~DOH! Instead, scroll down to the bottom of the page searching for three dots in a column in the right side clicking the mouse on the three dots selecting PRINT. Voila~Finished!

We attended a storytelling/ playtime class. There was singing, hand gestures and lots of toys. It was so much fun. Lots of toddlers too! I am looking forward to more activities. We also got our first library card. We now have access to several other libraries in the area. We checked out a few books. We are hoping to also join the 1000 books before kindergarten next time we go. Overall, it was clean, spacious areas for all ages.

My son doesn't go to daycare, so story time is great for him to sit, listen, as well as interact with other children. He loves dinosaurs has gotten to do so many dinosaur themed activities as well as see and pet live animals thanks to the great events this library puts on. Few days ago, although I was so exhausted but my little ones needed to borrow books no matter how tired I had to put on that mommy energy and get them here. I sat next to the window, watched through the window cars passing and enjoyed the outdoor lush beauty. There was a magic, no phones, library silence, row of books that stand like silent companions and each holding a world within the spine of books. At least the books are silent not like manager's, they don't ask how fast can you work on this. I feel library is a safe space, read, wander with imaginations, crave for more and eager to read next book from the series and let your brain learn new words or emotions through the book. Growing up, I was happy whenever the library trailer book bus came to our school. We never had library while growing up, so I looked forward to borrow book's when the library bus came. I clearly remember one time, my favorite book was dinosaur book. I renewed twice because the story was my favorite. And I'm glad my kids enjoy reading and thanks to the public library, we've borrowed thousands of books. And without the library, this wouldn't be possible without breaking the bank. And thanks to the library, we can borrow from different branches. They make it possible for kids to read and grow. All I want to say, thank you! You are making a big difference in our lives.

One of my favorite study spots!…read more The children activities can get noisy, but if you sit upstairs in the designated quiet area with a pair of noise canceling headphones, it's a perfect place to get work done. The natural light coming from the large windows makes long study days feel less confining. I feel comfortable leaving my belongings at my table while I use the restroom. It's a risk to take unless you ask one of the many kind people around to watch your stuff. There are also study rooms for rent. I haven't used them, but I'm happy to have the option. The parking lot can get packed quick due to the fitness center, nearby parks, and other library goers.

This is a nice, little, two-story library we regularly visit with our kiddo that is bright with…read morenatural light. It has seating nooks & a life-sized fake tree in the kids section that adds whimsy. STEAM bins can be checked out for in-library use. They also have sensory kits, adventure packs, & storytime kits available. An arts & crafts table offers changing simple activities like coloring. Though some of the seating is worn, the space always seems tidy. Staff at the front desk are welcoming, friendly, approachable, & helpful. The DIY check out & return systems are convenient & user friendly. There is a section of books & media for purchase. It's located at Mahany Park, next door to the Utility Exploration Center, which expands a nice family experience. There's plenty of parking for everyone using all the other parks & recreation facilities in the complex as well.
