We are visiting from the US and went in last evening for dinner without a reservation and were able…read moreto be seated right away. The atmosphere was eclectic and the staff were wonderful. We then had a great chat with Gavin the owner and told him we'd be back tonight as the food was that good and the menu changes slightly daily. He came back to our table staying they were fully booked with reservations but he managed to get us in as soon as they opened. We were sat at the cutest little snug right inside. Our waiter tonight was wonderful and the food was fantastic once again. The menu is creative with fresh local ingredients. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting.

We had heard great things about this restaurant and was excited to get a reservation for dinner…read more The interior is very charming and eclectic, with every table having a different setting. We started with a delicious cocktail made with fresh blackberries, a generous pour. Main courses of beef were very tasty and again generous portions. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Why I only give 3 instead of 5 stars is because of the following. A large group of 12 guys were seated right next to us, obviously they were tourists and out to celebrate something. They were obnoxious and very loud, shouting at each other across the table. Now had we been in a pub I would have accepted the noise, but in a high end restaurant that charges premium prices this was unacceptable. The management did nothing to ask them to keep the noise down, and I know for a fact many other guests complained. We would have stayed for dessert but the ambience was ruined, when we paid the bill I complained but no compensation was offered. I know that a high percentage of their customers are one time visit tourists but we probably wouldn't come back here again, not controlling guests behavior is not good restaurant practice.

Market Lane is an absolute must when visiting Cork! I had the steak sandwich, and it was…read moreoutstanding, served on incredible homemade bread that was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the tender steak. I paired it with one of their locally brewed lagers, which was crisp, refreshing, and a great match for the meal. The biggest surprise was the mushroom soup. It was rich, velvety, and absolutely exquisite, served with warm house made bread that was impossible to stop eating. What truly made the experience exceptional was the hospitality. Every member of the staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel at home. Fresh local ingredients, fantastic beer, unforgettable food, and wonderful service. Market Lane deserves every bit of its five stars. Highly recommended!

Small pork pie's pastry had some slightly overburnt and had spots, but it was crispy overall. The filling was seasoned nicely, but could use a bit more gravy or juice. The blackberry sundae with ice cream was nicely done, silky texture ice cream, sundae was rich in blackberry flavor. Other elements provide a diversity of mouthfeel, but I felt some of them were a bit of nuisance as their textures sometimes did not feel harmonized together.
