Locals recommend this restaurant, so we stopped in for a quick bite. They had chicken grilling outside, and a musician playing music. This is definitely a little hole in the wall. I had a couple of few items on the menu. They greeted us with complementary chips and salsa's. I ordered a Horchata which was really good, I also ordered a torta, quesadilla, burrito, and chicken with french fries. I would say it was a bit pricey. I ended up paying around $10 for each meal and a drink. Overall the chicken was the best thing we tried. read more

We have come here several times over the past couple of years. Huge variety, good food and big margaritas! Today I had Huevos Rancheros that was outstanding. My wife likes the tacos. I was strolling down Calle B, in Los Algodones, Baja California, in search of tacos, specifically tacos de tripas. Although I had my heart set on tacos de tripas, when I saw the smoke pouring out of the wood-fired grill, on the sidewalk in front of Molcas Taco Shop, and saw the chicken cooking on the grill, I immediately changed my mind and walked up to the counter, and placed an order for two chicken tacos, with everything. Birria, menudo, tacos de pollo, asada, paastor, lengua, camaron and pescado, but not a word about chicken tacos! Yet, the chef is grilling chicken in a Texas hibachi on the sidewalk? Go figure... only in Los Algodones. Anyway, when I saw him grilling chicken, I couldn't resist ordering a couple of chicken tacos. Like most small restaurants in Mexico, Molcas Taco Shop is open to the street, and the furniture is gaudy, plastic tables and chairs. They don't have a menu, instead their offerings are posted by colorful, hand-printed signs, hung from the ceiling and posted on the walls. You figure out what you want, and then you order it and pay for it at the counter. They don't always have everything that's posted, as that's just the way it is. What an outstanding meal for $2.50, U.S. dollars! For that small price, I enjoyed a bowl of fresh tortilla chips, red and green salsa, a plate full of salsa, cabbage, cucumber slices, diced red onions and limes, and two of the best chicken tacos that I've ever eaten. Such a bargain! Although the majority of today's customers were American and Canadian tourists, Molcas Taco Shop serves authentic, Baja-style, Mexican cuisine, served by some of the friendliest people that I've ever met. This place not only serves delicious food, but the staff is absolutely wonderful. Molcas Taco Shop is a gem, and a visit to Los Algodones wouldn't be complete without enjoying a delicious meal at this friendly taco shop. read more

Very delicious. Lunch was a steak milanesa torta which I devoured. My partner had green enchiladas in green sauce with rice/beans and left his plate clean. Best Margaritas, lots of tequila in them. They do come in a Styrofoam cup. That doesn't bother me as I can walk away with it. The carnitas taco's were my favorite. I was there 4 days, and went there everyday, once twice. People mentioned the owner, he loved me after going often and bringing new customers with me. I still wish I could go back everyday. Where do i begin, it was horrible. The service was not great, guero the bald dude was rude. The food was not good at all had nooooo flavor had bad quality taste. The chilaquiles were basically the tortilla chips drowned in tomatoes ketchup like sauce. The Birria is too shredded and basically just stew broth. Too many flies around as well! and i just cannot forget the service how rude the people were there not friendly, also expect to pay in cash. This restaurant was recommended to me. I was well pleased with the food and the service. The prices weren't posted on the menu boards but the food was great and quite reasonably priced. First when seated they bring you chips and salsa, a red and green salsa, pico de gallo, and sour cream. I had a Chile Relleno plate it came with rice and beans...Wonderful. I'll be back!! Was recommended Molcas Tacos by a local after the total 'letdown' of a meal and drink at El Paraiso. SO, the next day I meandered over to Ave B, found Molcas Taco and smiled! YES! This looks exactly like where we get good 'authentic' Mexican food in my area. I will state that the best place anywhere is our neighbors house (REAL DEAL) but I'm not moving or I'll starve. So trust me on this...it is nothing to look at in fact some might consider it a hole in the wall. We who are familiar, know these places usually have the best food. With that, the food was really really good! Everything came out piping hot. The frioles were AUTHENTIC, not watered down and the chicken tacos were delicious. The mix of salsa spices were amazing! Beer was ice cold as it should be. Menus written on paper and hung as are items written on the walls. Truly a little taste of authentic Mexico. No there are no prices so one feels at the mercy of the restaurant when receiving the bill. I had absolutely NO PROBLEM asking before ordering but I've learned from my neighbors. If you want money, I need to know how much first! These people were so nice and accommodating the moment we walked in that answering the cost of a chicken taco made her smile bigger. She was happy to share that. In summation, Molcas Tacos is the place I recommend if you want good Mexican food and don't need the fancy palapa bar or colorful painted walls and tile. They are lovely people so ASK questions. They speak English and they want your money. And really...if they don't want to answer that? I have been to Los Algodones 3 times in the last two years. I go to Sani Dental Platinum and Molcas Tacos are right around the corner. The owner and his daughter run the place and are very nice folks. I have had every taco they make there. Chicken tacos, goat tacos, tongue tacos, head tacos, you name the taco and I have had it there, all are the best. And the tray they bring over to you with cabbage, cucumbers, lime, guacamole, salsa and hot sauce along with chips, that's a meal in itself. My wife had the tamales and said they also were great. This is the only place I eat when I go to Los Algodones, the owners are great and so are the tacos and the rest of their food. read more
