To be honest, I was not excited about the mound of lettuce on my enchiladas, but once I scooped away the unwanted salad, I was pleased at the way these enchiladas were prepared and presented. For those of us Americans, and not use to the traditional way of making enchiladas, this should be your lesson on how perfect the way they are truly suppose to be made. Oh! Breakfast was amazing. Service was prompt and courteous. Sat outside surrounded by colorful tables and lush tropical plants.

Ordered shrimp cocktail not spicy at all you can dial it in to your spice level with a provided tray of assorted hot sauces including habanero! Thank you ! Blood Mary just ok couldn't taste the hooch. I like heavy handed pours! Service is hit and miss. Bigger groups of foreigners get better service probably bc there tabs will be bigger than say someone flying solo at the table. Just my personal observation. Ambiance is very nice. This is one of the nicest places in town with a great palapa bar and music as early as 11 am. If you like Freddy Fender before the next tear drop falls you've come to the right place! Lots of sales of souvenirs being hustled at your table. Just be polite to sales people and show grace and kindness to them. You're spending some dollars they're hoping to capture some of those dollars. No gracias with a smile goes a long way. If you like to negotiate they will play the game until they can't anymore. Went back to Algodones, B.C., Mexico today. It's a fun town to walk around and there are not many but some decent restaurants. The dental office we took a friend to suggested El Pariso for a new place to try. So off we went. We walked through the alley to get there. The restaurant is quiet through the entrance until you go through the arches into the courtyard. They have patio seating at the Palapa bar with tables under trees. There can be a ton of flies when food comes out though. We picked a table and we were given menus. We had margaritas-they were big and had a very good flavor. Our server forgot to bring chips & salsa but food came right away so we didn't say anything. We did try it later in the day when we had to pass some time and they weren't all that good. Chips were oddly hard and salsa had an odd flavor. My husband ordered enchiladas-2 chicken and 1 beef. They were baked until the sauce was a deep brick red color. The flavor was very good. We shared the Caldo de Pollo (chicken soup) which had a good amount of chicken but little to no veggies. The broth was pretty good, though. I also had the fish Vera Cruz. It was good but not as tasty as La Parilla.The refried beans and rice were pretty good too. I'm not sure I would return. Our meal was $37 before tip. A bit high for what it was. The courtyard was very cool and margaritas good. Someone told us the shrimp tacos were good so that would be a possibility. read more

Lovely outdoor setting, under a giant shade tree. Ordered scrambled eggs with bacon for US$3.50. I was served in less than five minutes. It is a nice break from the sun, and the staff was friendly. Large menu very reasonably priced. It is off the street in a plaza, so you have to look for it. read more

Great band, great location, good drinks. They handled out cash appropriately. Food wasn't great. I'd go back for the band and beverages.

WARNING I have been going to Los Algodones for more than 15 years. Every trip we spend a little time and money in El Paraiso. This is the first time I have had a problem. We had a few drinks and nachos, we split the bill $44.00 with me putting in a @20.00 bill and my friends putting in 2 $20s. The waiter gave the money to a third party (money woman) who did a little slight of hand and gave us $6.00 change. She tried to show us that she only had been given $50.00, it was a scam. I have had this happen in other Mexican cities but never here before. So now I treat this like all others, pay as you go.....do not run a tab! read more

It gets 2 stars because ambiance is great. The margarita was $5 and large but had NO tequila in it. Every other place in town, they are $4 and you can taste the tequila. The food was awful and expensive. Even the chips were bad. How can you screw up chips and salsa? I got locked in the bathroom. Had to be rescued. I might return but I would order a beer and no food just for the music and ambiance. read more

I wish I could give zero reviews. The nastiest Mexican food I've ever had in Mexico, and on top of that is overpriced.

Well I'm glad I tried it so I can now say I did and I'll NEVER go back! If you're from the SW you know what authentic Mexican food is. This was garbage! Everything tasted as if it were diluted or watered down, from the salsa to the frioles. Maybe it was...cash in on the northerners that are unsuspecting customers. I don't even think there was tequila in my Margarita! I honestly have had better Mexican food from Stouffers and that is NO lie. AND hot right out of the microwave. Yes, this place has a colorful 'flair' vibe going on but I'm also from the SW and my whole neighborhood looks like that! Hell, we even have two street vendors that cruise the hood! If flair and no flavor with a high price is your gig then that's totally cool. Just know there's BETTER and a lot more authentic Mexican food in Los Algodones. Meh. For how highly rated this place is online, i was expecting more. It's American style Mexican food. Should have been able to tell by the clientele. It's confusing to get in, as the gps gives you directions to the back thru an alley. Fish tacos are stale and laughable. Asada was edible but nothing to write home about. Nachos were ok but with nacho cheese sauce and no real cheese. Service was really fast though and food came out fast. Patio is gorgeous but it's not great enough for me to ever want to come back. After eating we walked around town and ran into a bunch of street food carts that smelled amazing. Damn it. read more

It's a bit of a maze to get to this place but it is in the middle of all the tourist area. The outdoor patio style dining is relaxing to sit and listen to the band and have a cocktail. A large margarita was $5 and was pretty good. Not strong with alcohol but that's how i like it. Food in good. I tried the breaded shrimp tacos and their shrimp cocktail is awesome. That ended up being my soft go to food after the dentist. read more

What a great place!!! The only draw back was the continuous street vendors trying to sell you stuff as you tried to kick back and eat. But it's all in good fun and the experience of it all!!! The guacamole, and green salsa was great, and the chips were the best!!' I had the combo Chile, taco and enchiladas for 7.50. Great portion. The margarita was huge for 5.00. I couldn't finish it. Loved the outside courtyard. Full of big colors, and big flavors. If your in town, stop by. Great experience! read more

I've been in Algodones Mexico so many times and I love Algodones, But this is the worst place to eat! Just saw their restaurant waiter recycling the "Salsa" back in a salsa container ..... so GROSS!! read more

oh HELL NO, after I finished eating I saw that one of the waiters was recycling the hot sauce for the chips....he was getting the left over salsa from the tables and putting them in a big container and refilling them to go out to the new customers arriving... SO GROSS read more
