It's not a huge store, but somehow that adds to the appeal. They also have a great mix of traditional favorites as well as up to date favorites. There is an energy in this place. Wanted my daughter to experience an old timey candy shop atmosphere and Mom and Pop's did not disappoint! Love that they had candy that you don't see often along with current candy as well. The shop smells absolutely amazing with the chocolates and candy along with all of their different flavors of popcorn. We ended getting pop rocks, a Toblerone, Twizzlers, and some jolly ranchers. This is another amazing shop in downtown McKinney that is so far away from me it makes me want to cry. Because I live almost 45 mins away, I found out about this place when some coworkers brought popcorn to work. When I saw that they offer Pizza flavored popcorn I told my husband we had to IMMEDIATELY check it out - along with Funky Monkey Shaved ice (see my review for info on that place as well). Mom and Popcorn is family owned and you can tell by the amazing service you receive. The popcorn choices were more than I could have imagined so I was absolutely delighted (and astonished) when they told me I could try the popcorn before I bought a bag of it. Both people helping my husband and me were super patient because, let me tell you, we tried as many flavors as we could because we couldn't just settle on one - we walked away with 4 bags of popcorn and they were all gone in a week. They also have customized flavors they offer monthly so what you see on their menu is not what they are going to have every time you go in. This month one of the flavors was a Puppy Chow mix that my husband absolutely loved and I had to admit was very tasty, even with the peanut butter in it - I'm not the biggest fan of peanut butter. On top of the popcorn goodness, walking into the store felt like I was stepping back into my childhood (like the opening scene of the Barbie movie...lol). Inside was every single candy I could possibly imagine from necklace candy to Chuckles to cigarette gum (I know, I know). I could have stayed there for a good 30 mins just walking around but my kids didn't have the same appreciation for my nostalgia so we left after 15 mins. They also did a great job of making everything more covid safe by prepackaging pouches of candies so you don't have to scoop them out of the bins. In a separate section candy is also displayed in plastic bins do that it can also be purchased in bulk. You can purchase jelly beans, chocolates, gummies, and hard candy. Every time I have a family member or a friend in town I take them to downtown McKinney and we always find ourselves going into Mom and Popcorn. My sister loves their buffalo ranch popcorn and the candy options are endless. The customer service is great and they will let you sample different popcorn options too. What we really like about their candy containers is that they have them bagged individually, so you know that people aren't just opening up the containers and grabbing candy. This is the cutest little candy and popcorn store. They've been in downtown McKinney for several years which tells you they're doing something right. I know I can always find something unique here whether it's for a gift or I'm just curious to try something new. The popcorn is awesome! So many different flavors to choose from. Staff has always been super sweet and helpful every time I've visited. Parking is bit of a hassle, but there's a free parking garage a few blocks over, so that's very convenient. The flavors of the popcorn are pretty good but the value is most definitely missing the mark. Given how expensive it is, I always end up with a good 2" of crushed popcorn in the bottom of the bag, which is basically inedible. If I am going to be spending $30.00 for an "extra large" bag (which is not extra large in my book) then I expect to be able to eat all of the product and not toss out the last $5.00 of the bag. I'd rather spend the extra money, in time and gas, going to Popcorn Papa in Rockwall. Their product is superior to what I am getting from Mom and Popcorn, IMHO. read more

Of all I sampled my favorites were kettlecorn--buttery and light brown sugar taste; a very fine flavor. Next up in my faves was the bacon cheddar popcorn--mmmm mmm mmm! Must try, must buy! I made the mistake of ordering the popcorn two weeks before our wedding date in December, and when I called the company, they said during the busy months, it would take more than 2 weeks and that I should have specified that this would be for a wedding. HOWEVER... this story has a happy ending! Kim, the owner, was SO helpful and nice. She spoke with me personally on the phone multiple times in order to figure out a solution to the issue. We ended up getting our popcorn in time the day before the wedding, and we are SOO grateful for her awesome customer service. BTW, the popcorn was amazing.
