We went to Pinkitzel and had ice cream on lavender and red velvet cones with velvet cake, salted caramel and strawberry cheesecake flavors, they were really good. Service was great, and the decor is super cute. There's seating in the front and inside too (we didn't notice until leaving!). read more

Saturday afternoon visit, first visit. As the name suggests they have a lot of pink items. I did a perusal of most of the store. Items are pricey. I splurged on a pink Hershey's bar,$7+. They have general seating areas as well as a party area that can be reserved. A good place to visit when walking around downtown. read more

OH EM GEE! I absolutely love this store!!! It is so cute, quirky, fun, and pink! A-hem, and expensive, but still a super cute shop! I stumbled upon this store tonight and had to go in! If you're girly, this is your store. For reference, it's giving Enid vibes with sarcastic Wednesday quips here and there. I wanted to buy everything in this store. EVERYTHING. There's ice cream, bulk candy, truffles, and a cupcake bar. I don't know the prices of most of that, but the ice cream prices were high, at $7 for a small (possible one scoop). Most of the gifts and trinkets start at $25, while there are lesser items that are about $13-$15. I ended up buying a way overpriced strawberry champagne chocolate bar (a big splurge at $10), and a cute ceramic cake planter for $25. There were really cute embroidered decorative vintage-styled phrase pillows for$100 and cute t-shirts $25-$60. It was hard to leave stuff there but it was all marked up pretty high. I saw a lot of cute gifts I want to get friends for future gifts. There are also gifts for men too, like flavored beef jerky, flasks, and cocktail mix kits. Wowser!!! How do I describe the ambience of this place? I guess the best way for me to describe it, and the description that comes to mind is if Willy Wonka had a sister who owns a retail shop it's this place! This place is as much of a sight for the eyes, as it is a taste for the taste buds! There is nothing subtle about this place. In fact, if you are easily overwhelmed, it is easy to have your senses go on overload here! From candies to cupcakes to whole cakes and ice cream and sodas, there is a lot to take in at this place. This place is also set up for the individual shopper or the person wanting to throw a party for some of their closest friends. There is a cupcake bar and a bead bar For people who want to either make their own cupcakes or their own jewelry. For me, the prices did seem a little high. For example, I inquired as to the price of a couple cakes that I thought were beautiful and it seemed like the going rate for a cake was $99. I tasted a cupcake and while it was OK. It by far was not the best cupcake I've ever had. My companion trade a scoop of ice cream and well. She said it was good. She said that she probably wouldn't pay 7+ dollars for one again. So I know I've left with a little bit of mixed feelings about this place. However, I do think everyone that comes to McKinney should visit the store. It is a sight to behold, and I wish more shop owners took the level of plant even care to display their goods as much as these folks too. Seriously the only negative for me was the pricing and that is so subjective and personal, I urge it not to be a consideration for you, as to whether or not, you're coming in and visit these folks! When you walk into Pinkitzel Cupcakes and Candy, the music from Charlie and the Chocolate factory is playing - and it's very fitting! This is sugar delight! Visually it's beautiful, making you feel like you're in candy heaven. And while I didn't try any of their sweets, I did see kids sitting a cupcake bar decorating their cupcakes and it looked wonderful. The decor is amazing, but the cupcakes are incredibly stale. I wanted to fall in love with this place, but I paid $6 for a cookie dough cupcake that was stale, and had the smallest amount of cookie dough in it I've ever seen. It's a crime to even call it a cookie dough cupcake. Look at the picture! The cookie dough was also not solid inside. It was almost gooey/liquid. The icing was good, but that's about it. This place is adorable! They transformed it from a glamorous furniture store into Pinkitzel in about a weekend it seemed. They have old fashioned candy, bulk candy, and cupcakes. They even have gluten free cupcakes. Is this place economical...nope, but I am not sure that is the point of the place. Instagram worthy of lots of cuteness, they have that for sure. Yesterday I was in and lots of little princesses were having a tea party. They also have cute felt gift card holders in the shape of taffy candy. You can use it to hold any gift card. read more

No training. Unrealistic expectations with no resolve. I was "trained" as a manager by who was described as their "worst employee", who was not a manager but an associate, and quit on me two days later. The owners will never spend enough time in the store to properly train their managers, then they blame the managers for their lack of training. Nothing is ever good enough. You can spend hours of overtime stocking freight, volunteer to come in on your days off and make over the top efforts to raise excitability and morale, and still you flinch one wrong way and they begin to mercilessly target you. They don't know what's going on in the store even when you post it in telegram, so you will get continuously blamed for other people's mistakes. You are a manager but don't get to use the office. You are told not to be hard on the high school girls so you wind up doing all the grunt work yourself, then get in trouble for not being on the register enough. No expiration dates on any food product. Month old cupcakes from Sam's Club with crazy markups. No expiration dates on truffles, cupcakes, cake balls or bar candy, no FIFO ever followed. No anti-stress mats. No health insurance. No smoking policy even though it says in the manual if you need to smoke just to stay close to the store. You work 10+ hour shifts but you're not even allowed to warm up food to eat on break because it will "make the store smell" (also stated in the manual). Completely unrealistic expectations no matter how hard you try to beat them. They looked at me like god one day and the devil the next when all I ever tried to do was a good job. These are clearly two people who have never been to a business class in their life and just have money so they decided to start a business with no idea which way is up. Then after all of this when you go to formally and professionally put in your two weeks notice, they have no concern for your well-being and completely take you off the schedule. Just don't do it. I drove four hours a day in the beginning and moved 100 miles away for this job and was never appreciated for my efforts. In and out within a month when I have 3 year long stints at my other management jobs says a lot. read more

Hard pass. But Pink Itzel charges luxury prices for bargain quality. The bulk candy is $1.50 an ounce, which is laughable. Nothing about it justifies that price except audacity. The cupcakes are $6 each and honestly offensive. The icing has zero flavor. The cake is dry. These are not homemade. They taste like they were pulled from a freezer, forgotten, then sold anyway. Freezer burned cupcakes for six dollars is ridiculous. The salt water taffy is always soft and mushy. Not fresh soft. Melted, sad, no structure mush. They need to turn the air conditioning down. This is basic food handling. Then there was the gold macaron. It was hard, dry, and tasted like chemicals. Not almond. Not vanilla. Chemicals. I did not finish it because I value my mouth. If I could give zero stars, I would. We will gladly take our money to the mom and pop shop down the street. There is a reason they have been around for decades. The store was adorable!!! It would be perfect for a sweet 16 party or princess birthday party. Just be aware it is over the top expensive. 3 ice cream scoops in tiny bowls and a small amount of pick your own candy was $59.00. The price for the self serve candy is not posted. I have been to candy stores all over the world. Most are a little expensive due to the novelty. I get it. Love all the different candy, ice cream and items (shirts/mugs, etc.) for sale in this lovely new shop. The selection is great. The staff are super pleasant and, if you love pink (yes!), you'll love the decor! Areas for improvement: prices and the frosting on the cupcakes is over-the-top too sweet. read more
