MoMA offers free admission to NY residents on Fridays - if you can sign up in advance. Growing up in NY, I've been to MoMA many times. I've even dined at their restaurant, The Modern. It's a great museum but it's not very inviting. For example, I tried to visit a few weeks ago. I went to the nearest entrance. It was freezing. The guard wouldn't let me in to avoid the cold, scowled, gave off bad vibes and then told me to walk to the other entrance while he allowed museum members in. That's a long walk in this cold weather! I know that's the way they do things but give me a break. The museum restricts certain items, such as large bags and backpacks. I posted a photo of the sign with the list of restricted items.

So many floors, wings, artists, I was delirious. I was there with a group for three hours but I could've easily spent 6. I loved the gift shop. They have great books, puzzles and home goods! I would've loved to see more Warhol pieces but I'll take what I can get. I left feeling very stimulated

This museum has multiple floors of and tons of galleries to explore. There are people throughout the museum to provide information or help you with directions. Really impressive works of art and the tickets are not too bad. Booked ahead of time and didn't have any issues. There was also free bag and coat check which was helpful. Posted a picture of the dust. Every ledge was completely covered in dust! They need a cleaning crew!

If you visit New York or even if you live here you definitely have to visit MoMA at least once. They have a constant rotation of art and events so getting a membership might be a good idea if you live nearby. I came here for the Frida and Diego The Last Dream exhibition since I'm a fan of her artwork. It was laid out beautifully although I would have liked it in a larger space since it was crowded. But overall I was happy about it

I am not a big Modern Art lover, but MoMA does have a lot more than abstract colorful artwork. It has some great masterpieces like Starry Night (Van Gogh), The Persistance of Memory (Dali), Campbell's Soup Cans (Warhol) and Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (Picasso) just to name a few. I enjoyed getting audio descriptions by getting on the APP and listening to some of the stories behind the pieces...that really makes a difference. Check that tool out next time you are at MoMA or any other museum.

MOMA is a great time, even for the non-artistic types like me. Plenty to see and experience, and while crowded, it's still a good time. There is staff present throughout the floors, and the museum has something to offer just about everyone. And they'll let you into the lobby a 1/2 hour early so you don't have to wait in the cold. Now, while I am still going with 5 stars, there are some things I didn't like. The museum doesn't really flow well. There were times I had to backtrack to get to the next section, as you end up going into dead ends rather than things flowing circularly or rectangularly. There are also stairs in some sections and escalators in others, and some take you into one area of a floor but not the other, so if you want to see an entire floor, you have to figure out which one takes you where. It was a little difficult and annoying as well. Also, and this is minor in the general scheme of things, but it is what it is. There are 2 cafes at the museum, and I was expecting them to be snack-bar type cafes. But they're not, they're full on, wait to be seated, formal dining cafes. I wasn't looking for a full-on dining experience, just a quick snack. So that was disappointing. Overall, though, this is a great time. Even for kids.

A great museum all around. The 5th floor is where they keep a lot of the best classics like Picasso, Matisse, and Monet. You'll see the huge crowds around Starry Night and Monet's water lillies. The gift shop is also just as fun to look around in.

This museum is a delight to the senses. The layout is nice and there is soo much to see. You have to come here. Happy Yelping!

What happens when Uniqlo partners with MoMA? Free museum access for New York residents every Friday, starting at 5:30-8:30pm. The line moved quickly, and there was plenty of staff to scan QR codes, making entry very smooth. I was particularly excited to see the Jack Whitten Messenger exhibit on the 6th floor. I explored the museum from the top floor, working my way down. I took my time and thoroughly enjoyed each exhibit; it was breathtaking. There was plenty of space, so it wasn't crowded. I also appreciated that there's a restroom on each floor and that the lighting is good for photos of art pieces. Add the MoMa to your bucketlist!

If you are heading to MoMA specifically for the Ruth Asawa retrospective, be prepared: it is absolutely breathtaking but incredibly crowded. This exhibit is a massive collection of her iconic hanging wire sculptures, and seeing them all together on the 6th floor is a spiritual experience. The shadows the sculptures cast on the walls are just as much a part of the art as the wire itself. The museum is huge and split into two sides (the newer Geffen wing to the west and the classic wing to the east). To avoid getting overwhelmed by the masses, start at the very top and work your way down. 1. Take the elevators straight to the 6th floor for Ruth Asawa first while your energy is high. 2. Then, walk down one flight at a time. The 5th floor has the "heavy hitters" (Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso), so that's where you'll hit the most traffic. 3. Continue down to the 4th and 2nd floors for the more contemporary and large-scale works, which tend to feel a bit more spacious. Starting from the top allows you to beat the "bottleneck" at the entrance and gives you a much more logical flow through art history. It's a lot of walking, so definitely plan for a break in the Sculpture Garden at the end! Whether you're an art history buff or just looking for a beautiful NYC afternoon, this exhibit is a must-see--just go in with a plan! My daughter and I enjoyed ourselves very much! Go for it!!

The cost was minimal considering the number of exhibits you could see. Very well laid out and plot to see. Plenty of seating to rest in between exhibits.

I loved this museum. I never thought that I would see so many Picasso's as well a renowned artist paintings. They have Van Gogh's, Renoir, Seurat, Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali's. I mean I was delighted walking around the many rooms floors and invited artists displays. Getting a ticket it was very easy. They have a long line of automatic ticket machines which make it very easy and quick to get you in. We loved it!

However; the reason why I'm writing this update is because there are some changes at the store. Firstly; the large "Information Desk" at the rear of the first floor is no longer there. Instead, there's a small one on the right side of that floor (and it's almost hidden). Secondly; the huge first floor display of beautiful photo books of NYC and environs is now much smaller (although it seemed like there were more of them on the lower level than previously). There's also another change; the restrooms are now only accessible with a code, and a code can only be obtained via a receipt - so if you don't buy anything, you can't use the restroom (I ordered some books online later, since I didn't want to lug them home from the store). Further; employees don't have access to a bathroom code (obviously they have some other way to access the restrooms). I was there for a few hours - and if it wasn't for the fact that I had a dental appointment nearby afterwards, it would have been problematic. Having said that, I do realize that the restroom situation is an issue; at the Union Square store in particular, there used to be a big problem with homeless people and undoubtedly a corporate decision was made. I'm still keeping a five-star rating because of the employees and because the store has a great selection.

I brought in three statue items unopened in the original packaging. I checked on ebay for what the items sold for (not asking price but sold price) and it added up to about $600, I lugged the items over there and had to leave them there because they wouldn't get to them right away. The people/kids working there were very nice. I went to have lunch and got the text to return, and they are offering $150. So I picked up the items and turned down the offer. Again, they were very nice, it's just I wasn't willing to accept 25% of the value. I figured at worst it would be 50%. But I am better off getting closer to the actual price on ebay. Now, Buying. Lots of very expensive and exiting things to get, and I didn't have time to price check things so much, but my son is into the Nintendo switch and i spotted a used Marvel VS Capcom game he might like. It was $34.95. But just in case, I pulled up Amazon and looked the game up. A brand new one costs $21.79. So it would have been a terrible idea for me to buy it there. I guess if you are leaving work and need a quick gift, you might stop in and pay too much for an item. If you are in real trouble and don't have time to wait for an Ebay sale, you might consider selling your collectables for 25% the value, this place might come in handy.

I walked into a store that is essentially one large room, and the density of product on display meant navigating it during a busy period required some patience, but the selection within that compact space was broader than the size suggested. The Korean literature section covers both Korean language and English language editions across a range of genres, which makes it genuinely useful for anyone studying the language or looking for titles that are difficult to find at general bookstores in the city. I saw children's books in Korean, well stocked. The K pop side of the store covers albums, photocards, posters, keychains, stickers, and merchandise across a wide range of artists, with BTS having a particularly strong presence historically alongside newer groups. Pricing runs higher than what I would pay ordering online or finding the same items at a larger retailer, which is the standard trade off for a specialty shop in Manhattan. Album prices in particular can be steep, though sale events bring them down to more competitive territory. Individual accessory items like stickers and bookmarks are priced at a premium relative to their size, so going in with a sense of what I am willing to spend helps avoid sticker shock at the register. The store is a reliable stop for anyone looking for Korean books or K pop merchandise in a physical retail setting in New York, with the caveat that the pricing and the crowd level are both factors worth knowing about before I go.
