My husband and I wanted someone who would listen to our vision for the wedding, and deliver that vision. It was also important for us to have someone loving and accepting of the LGBTQ community. Marisa exceeded our expectations at every turn. We had about 120 guests at the wedding. The ceremony happened in a church venue, followed by appetizers and drinks, dinner, and dancing during the reception. Planning/Availability: Marisa met with us numerous times during the planning process to ensure we understood everything, and to make sure we had made all decisions about the wedding structure. She walked us through the process step-by-step, created a detailed cost estimate, and went over each line item on the cost estimate with us so we understood it. She made herself available any time we had questions (or my husband and I changed something, which happened several times). She was extremely professional, flexible, patient, and understood your wedding day is one of the best days of your life, and she and her staff worked hard to deliver high quality results, attention to detail, and magical moments. Budget: Prior to hiring Marisa, we researched the costs to deliver the type of wedding we wanted, including the venue, servers and catering for 120 people, flowers and decorations, photographer, videographer, bartender (see comments below), and a DJ. Then we hired Marisa. Marisa came in way under budget, several thousands under budget. Why the huge savings? Because Marisa has a large network of contacts in the wedding industry and we were able to save money by using her contacts. Not only did we save money using her contacts, but Marisa also owns a lot of wedding assets she made available to us for use. Rather than buying items, we were able to use many of hers, which also helped save us money. Bartender: My husband and I originally hired a bartender for the reception before we hired Marisa. The bartender canceled on us 5 days before the wedding. Marisa not only got us a bartender, she got us 2 of them for the reception. Having contacts makes all the difference. If you are thinking about getting married, I highly recommend Marisa and I Do Events. She is professional, organized, and can be trusted to help make your wedding day full of happiness without any of the stress. You won't be disappointed.

We wanted a wedding planner with gay wedding experience and hired Marisa Tristan, owner & primary employee, after she said she could deliver what we were looking for. She helped us secure a venue, but after that things fell apart. In our planning meetings, she had no agenda and it was up to us to bring up topics to discuss and remember deadlines. She took notes but later could not recall the information. One of the primary tasks she was hired for was vendor coordination, but most of our vendors said she never contacted them so this crucial task fell to us. We even asked her if she was going to contact a vendor and she'd say yes, but then never did. Our vendors had to contact us directly for direction during this busy time. We wouldn't have been able to have a wedding had we relied on Marisa to do it. She was also in charge of decorations which were a failure. She got the colors of the wedding flowers wrong(!), and other decorations were missing or not as agreed upon. She didn't get the guest count right so many chairs were left without decor. Her staff was extremely unprofessional: they walked into our dressing room without knocking, were rude to our other vendors, sat at the guest tables eating and drinking, then tore decor down early causing guests to think it was time to leave. We hired I Do Events for wedding planning and decorations, and all we got was substandard decor.

There are 2 sides & we chose the side with the red brick reception area and it truly was perfect. When we initially toured the venue we worked with Katie and then all of our subsequent planning meetings were with her up until our very last meeting 10 days prior to the venue. She is very knowledgable, but can be impatient and a bit snappy at times, especially if you ask questions or don't quite understand what she means the first time she says it. My husband and I felt this was somewhat off-putting, but rolled with it anyways because what are you gonna do? Our final meeting 10 days before the wedding we worked with the 1st person outside of Katie, and it was Gerardo. Gerardo is INCREDIBLE. He was patient, kind, and really went the extra mile to ensure we not only understood all of the moving parts but also felt comfortable and excited about the most special day of our lives. We asked him if he could be our day of coordinator and he arranged it so we actually worked with him at both our rehearsal and our wedding day. He is the reason this review is 5 stars. On the day of our wedding we had an issue with the arch we had rented and when he came to tell me about it he already had a solution so all I had to do was OK the course correction instead of problem solve a stressful situation on my wedding day. Our banquet captain was also incredible (I can't remember her name but we connected over Fourth Wing the book - she'll know who she is!) and really took care of us after Gerardo left. We also utilized the DJ and bartender provided by the venue. Our DJ was great, but our bartender was super drunk and taking shots in front of my guests when he should have been serving them. Probably something the venue could look into to prevent the next couple/guests from having to deal with that. All in all, the day was more beautiful and fun than I could have ever imagined, and I am really thankful we were able to work with Gerardo and our amazing banquet captain because they really went above and beyond!

Dust on large mirror leaning against the wall, they told her to keep the dress hanging there. It rained... ceiling has multiple leaks! They brought out Home Depot buckets on tables where guest were standing during cocktail hour. No towels/ no fans/ 1 mop/ 1 broom. Water and mud all over the floors, with no way to clean it up. The tent/ reception. The staff were not helpful at all. The bride, my cousin and her husband had their sweetheart table flooded. My poor cousin's feet were soaked when she tried to sit down at her table to eat dinner. My Uncle, bride's father, kept asking staff to help mop up the floor so guest would not slip. He was pissed since he had to keep trying to find somebody who could actually help. They did not even bring out towels and said they had no more mops to help clean up the puddles. I don't know if they're used to hiring young kids who aren't trained outside of serving food, set up and teardown... Just make sure you have a wedding coordinator to help make everything go smoothly. Staff did not help with anything. Staff shrugged and said let me ask. No towels, fans, blow dryers, then ceiling had multiple leaks, one old bathroom, where all the guests were in the same room as the couple taking their pictures during cocktail hour. When it was all over, she cried, and understandably upset with how everything was handled. I don't want anyone else to ever feel that way.

Wedding planning in general is difficult, even if there's a whole year to plan, but it's even far more difficult when you only have one month to do so. Tasha made sure everything went smoothly. Her problem-solving skills are off the charts. She is able to adjust herself to her clients way immediately, and she is so sharp in knowing within a few days what her clients truly want. She is so respectful and understanding of different cultures. One of the most important things to us was being able to communicate with her and get a response immediately especially because we had such a short time to plan the wedding and tasha was always available. Her optimism was extremely calming in difficult situations. Even two months after the wedding was over. When she learned we had trouble with one of the vendors she intervened, and once again, was able to solve the problem with her amazing optimism and action taking abilities tasha truly cares about her clients and definitely makes you feel she's a part of your family holding your hands through the whole process and beyond. Being that I live in Chicago and was getting married in Scottsdale, it was a no brainer that I would need a wedding coordinator. Working with YJ was truly the best decision I could have made. Every little detail was perfectly planned, including the ones that would have never even crossed my mind. I love that they have relationships with so many incredible vendors, it made picking a DJ, florist, etc, super easy! What I really loved about Maddy and the Your Jubilee team is that I never felt pushed or rushed in the decision making process.
