The Husky Den is a locally owned restaurant operated by Billy Wehrle, a Big Chimney, Elk River born and raised resident, and a huge supporter of HHHS sports for several decades. The interior of the newly opened restaurant is filled with memorabilia and artifacts from the new and old school. According to their Facebook page they have one goal, to become the #1 place for West Virginia style hot dogs in the state. I've eaten a lot of WV hotdogs at a lot of places all over the state, including the formally ranked #2 hot dog at Yokums near Seneca Rocks. The Husky Den puts up a really good fight with their hot dogs and they definitely belong right there at the top. This place is definitely worth the stop if you love West Virginia style hot dogs. The menu is ever evolving and they focus on locally sourced food such as using local beef and vegetables when possible. The restaurant has revived local classics that no longer exist such as the Larry Maynor Blue Creek Special which was a sandwich served to high school students at a local convenience store that was open for decades but was lost when Maynors closed. The prices are really great and affordable for all, aimed at being available and within reach of the high school students located nearby. The inside is quite small but the staff are well trained and move orders quickly. There is a really nice outside eating area adjacent to the restaurant and there is parking in front of and behind the building. Since the Clendenin Dairy Queen closed there was no where on the Elk River that you could get a proper WV dog until now. Stop in and support a local business that supports the local school and students.

If you've been searching the world for *the* perfect Reuben sandwich, stop. Put down your passport…read more Cancel your food pilgrimage. Because the greatest Reuben of all time isn't hiding in some upscale deli in New York or tucked away in a quaint European bistro. No, it's right here in Elkview, WV--at The Husky Den. I don't know what kind of wizardry they're working with in that kitchen, but their Reuben is *transcendent*. The corned beef is piled high, juicy enough to make a grown man weep. The Swiss cheese melts like it's been blessed by the culinary gods, and the sauerkraut? Perfection. But let's talk about the bread--crispy, golden, with just the right crunch, like it was toasted by angels. And don't get me started on the ratio. Some places drown their Reubens in dressing like they're trying to hide something. But The Husky Den? They understand balance. Every bite is a harmonious symphony of flavors, an edible masterpiece that could bring international peace if only world leaders would sit down and try it. Long story short--if you love food, you owe it to yourself to make the pilgrimage to Elkview and order this Reuben. Just prepare to have all other sandwiches ruined for you forever.

The wait can be 20-30 minutes during prime dinner hours, and the food wait can also be lengthy. Plan on enjoying a few hours here and don't be in a rush once you get here. Let's talk about the food. They have gluten free options and anything can be made gluten free according to the staff. They also have some vegetarian options. I love burgers, and honestly, it's hard to beat a handmade beyond smashburger. This restaurant currently does not offer another veggie substitute other than the Portobello mushroom. It was good, with the added goat cheese, but would have rather had a burger substitute with mushrooms added on top. The fries are great! Perfectly fried with golden crunch in every bite. The garlic aioli is the perfect dipping sauce. I ordered a ranch side as well and it's good, but the aioli is the best choice in my opinion. Great local restaurant with a burger for everyone.

I decided to give Burger Carte another chance. I've been a customer all of my life. It was a staple of my childhood. I'm glad I stopped in today. The food was excellent. The hotdog was good. The slaw was nice and sweet. My Big Gene was messy but super yummy. Big Gene special sauce was just like it used to be back in the day. Oh and my mushrooms were the best I've had in a very long time. perfectly cooked and plenty of them! I'm a big ranch dressing girl. Ranch can tell you a lot about a restaurant. This ranch was delicious. Very good. Way to go, Burger Carte!! #fyp #foryoupage

We called them to let them know and was told we could get our order replaced. Well.... we even called ahead to make sure they still had our name down for a replacement so we wouldn't waste gas going All the way there. They advised us they would but when we got there they said it had been too long and they wouldn't replace anything! It's been less than 2 weeks ago! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! It's went to total CRAP! it's new name is should be BURGER CRAP!
