I have always wanted to try out the Momo Sushi in Kelowna. I came with B and his brother J. I got the Sashimi and Tempura Box. The price is kind of pricy given the quality and the amount of food that you get in the box for $19. It came with 2 small slices of Tuna, 2 small slices of Salmon sashimi, 4 pieces of dynamite roll, 1 slice of orange, 1 miso soup, a tiny portion of salad, 2 veggie tempura and 2 shrimp tempura. B got the beef roll, Spicy Salmon Roll and Miso soup. J got the Ogopogo Roll, Sunomono and Spicy Tuna Roll. The food was ok overall. There are way better options for sushi in Kelowna. J did say the Ogopogo roll has a good amount of Unagi and he liked that the outside of the unagi is crunchy. I am very likely not going to return unless it is with someone who really wants to eat at Momo. Service was ok as well. read more

This review is a few months late but I still think about how lovely the tempura that my son & I had here. We popped in for lunch during the summer and ordered sushi and tempura. My son loves ebi tempura so we got an order of them. When the tempura came to our table, it was hot! However, it was very crispy with a crunch of freshly made. What got me was how fluffy the batter was and how light it was! Prawn was good too so the combination certainly made my mouth sing! Normally prawn tempura gets soggy and greasy after a bit or it has sat out - not these ones! Oh yes, Sushi we had was really delicious too! Service was good and we got seated right away! Your typical small shop sushi place with young waiters and waitresses. Seems like a mom and pop shop but it was great in that way! They greeted me right away and gave me a seat. The menu was average and I couldn't really find what I wanted to eat. Their combos are your typical sushi / sashimi combos. Sashimi and sushi were not as fresh as I thought it could be. It was average. If you're craving for a little sushi, this could be it. Their yakisoba was quite dry and not enough meat in it. My go-to spot for sushi in Kelowna will always be Bluetail, however, because it isn't in the downtown area, and I was craving some sushi, I decided to check this place out. It's very small and it's a little dark inside-- not the classy dark, just dark-- but that's okay. The decor isn't as refined as Bluetail's, but that isn't really telling of the restaurant quality. Here is what I ordered: 1) yam and avocado roll 2) spicy tuna roll 3) mango flower roll 4) half an order of prawn tempura Yam/avo roll was pretty standard, although it seemed that the yam tempura wasn't freshly prepared. The spicy tuna roll was really good! I am actually surprised because the sauce was a little more vinegar-y, but it really worked out, especially because the tuna was almost melting in my mouth. I was kind of disappointed in the Mango Flower roll, to be honest. It did not look like a special roll, it was literally just a yam-avo roll with beet/red onion inside, topped with mango chunks and shredded beet along with a beet sauce. It was kind of sad. Honestly, it tasted pretty decent, I just expected something a little different for the $10 that it was priced at. The service lacks a little bit, I did have to wave the server down about three times in order to get a refill for my water. But I have a spidey sense telling me that it might have been an off day. Overall, it was a good experience; I think I will be back to try some more rolls (I want to try the Ogopogo roll next) and I'll update accordingly! read more

Because of the lockdown we took a tray to go. We Did the Love Sushi Tray B. It came with the Dynamite Roll, Spicy Tuna Rook, Chicken Roo, Rainbow Row, and 12 pieces of Nigiri. It also came with two misos and two salads. It doesn't scream pretty because it was bounced around in the car all the way to west Kewlowna but everything was fresh. My favourite was the Spicy Tuna Roll and my husband loved the rainbow row. My kid loved everything. The Nigiri was tasty. Really loved the Eel. Good price for the quanity. I went to have a meal at this restaurant, on Saturday, 14 January, at 500 PM. The Restaurant seemed busy. After a short wait, I was shown a table at the front of the restaurant. I was also given a menu, and ordered shortly. Shortly after my meal arrived, the chief hostess, came to my table, and asked me to move to another table since a group of people had arrived. I was astonished and appalled at such unprofessional behaviour; without apology. I asked if they could wait until I finished, and reluctantly, the host acquiesced. The patio is well shaded with umbrellas and brought a water bowl for our dog as well. We ordered chirashi donburi and hubby really like it. Sashimi cuts were quite generous probably around a dozen pieces at $16 it was not bad. Also all the fish were very fresh. I had the sashimi/dynamite role lunch combination. the sashimi pieces (Tuna and salmon) were thick and very fresh. The dynamite was very well made, and generous with their fillings. Right sit in the busy downtown commercial street, very closed to City Park. Easy for family food after a beach day. The service speed is very good. The taste is great! Double the price of the sushi dinner we just ate in Vancouver, and about half as good unfortunately, Momo seems to be a popular, friendly and crowded spot in Kelowna, but it wasn't a great introduction to dining in the area. Momo reminds me of a popular college all-you-can-eat sushi spot, lots of rolls and specials & the waitress all appear to be young, friendly, well-meaning, slightly discombobulated college students. Unfortunately, the prices imply they are going to hit a higher standard which they miss, especially on the set and combination menu items. All beer is in bottles and they do serve local wines, which seems fitting in the BC wine country. On the other hand, our waitress giggled uncomfortably when we asked her about what she was serving, and had to run in the back to get a wine list and get information about what she had on offer. She giggled again and told us almost no one orders any of her red wine here. The tempura was a thick and greasy variety, and the nigiri is fresh, but thinly sliced. The spicy roll features a chopped/minced fish, which isn't usually a good sign, in my book, where rolls are concerned. I can't say that I'm a fan or share the excitement of the local crowd here. I don't want to say its a two star spot though, for the sake of maybe hitting it on an off night, and not having tried other local businesses to gauge what is available in town. It seems very popular and crowded on a Sunday night in Kelowna, looking at the other spots in town that were open. For us, this turned out to be a functional meal, which is something I rarely say about sushi. It was also a poor value proposition. The one exception is the toro nigiri. Whatever you do, order toro anytime you can in Vancouver --this is priced so low here as to be gobbled down by the gallon! If you do opt to come here, I recommend steering clear of any bento or sushi combo options, and just getting one or two sushi rolls solo. Hopefully, the rolls you order don't feature minced fish. The pricing on the meals, and the watery salad and nori devoid miso, add little upside to justify the additional cost. read more

Pretty good for a Sushi place 400k from the ocean. Being spoiled from Vancouver with great sushi places, i had moderate expectations. Came in and was seated and attended to promptly. Ordered miso soup, gomae, salmon sashimi and a spicy tuna roll. It came out very quickly. Miso was very good. Gomae was prepared in advance and came in a bit of a settled lump with no sauce that i could tell and more sesame seeds than freckles on a redheads face on a hot sunny day. A little strange. I was hesitant when i ordered 7pcs of sashimi for $13 but i must say it was worth it. I wish it were a little colder but the pcs were generous and it was after all, sockeye. Pretty good. The spicy tuna roll wasnt bad. The service was awesome. Three staff all involved in serving, table maintenance and constant friendly smiles. After few days of eating camp food, my son was craving sushi. We decided to try out Momo Sushi in downtown Kelowna. The place was already busy at 4pm. We sat down and ordered a chicken teriyaki, a beef yaki udon, and an ogopogo roll. The food came very quickly in less than 10 minutes and it was ah-mazing. The beef yaki udon was very flavorful although the beef was scarce. The teriyaki chicken was well seasoned with a hint of pepper flavouring and the accompanying veggies were excellent too. We were very pleased with how they made such simple dishes into dishes with in-depth flavours. The ogopogo roll was very delicious with mix of textures and flavours. The unagi on the top was lightly battered and deep fried into crispy and tasty chunks that went really well with the soft tuna sushi on the bottom. We didn't expect to find great sushi restaurants outside of Vancouver. Momo definitely has proven us wrong. *edited to mention service* We felt that the restaurant may have been a bit understaffed (although we came on a stat holiday so we're not sure). There were multiple skip the dishes order that kept the kitchen busy and the staff/servers seemed to be always rushing some where but never to our table. It took awhile to get our bill and we had to go to the counter to line up to finally pay. Passing through the city of Kelowna and came in yesterday for dinner. First thing I noticed was how busy it was but we were immediately seated at the sushi bar. Did not take very long to get menus and drinks. I ordered the hot Sake and the Chirashi Donburi. Both were excellent and came out really quickly. The food was great to say the least. We didn't have to wait for a table and were asked almost immediately about drinks. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and tempura dinner, unagi don, udon, California roll, and 4 pieces of tomato sushi. First off, I have to say how quick everything came out. The sushi was made fresh, (no premade rolls that have been refrigerated). The other food also came out piping hot. The chicken teriyaki comes on a hot plate, and was also served with some veggies. The only thing missing was maybe a bowl of rice. I think it should come with the meal. The unagi don and udon were also served hot. As a quick note on the tamago sushi, it appears the tamago itself is made in house. It's not the usual tamago that is premade and brought in. This is a big deal to me, as it's my and the rest of the families favorite. Kelowna has quite a few Japanese restaurants, so I'm off to try another today. Really good sushi place in downtown Kelowna, with excellent vegetarian options for those of us who don't do fish. My dining partner assures me that they have pretty decent fish, especially for an inland sushi bar I recommend the spicy veggie roll, which is the perfect combination of crispy, creamy & spicy that I look for in veggie sushi (very good yam tempura). Even fish lovers should have a piece! accessibility: washrooms are accessible. The front entrance is a little narrow and some areas are tight for manouverability around the tables, but most should be able to manage. Service is usually speedy, & although it is generally busy for both lunch & dinner, seats do turn over quickly. You can often squeeze in at the bar if tables are full. read more

When we last visited Kelowna in 2009, we stopped at Momo and enjoyed a delicious sushi meal with some of the best tasting tuna I had had to date. So, of course, when we arrived in Kelowna again, I wanted to eat at the same place - glad it was still open! This time around we were waiting with a number of other people for Momo to open at 3 pm, happy that it was open over the long weekend. We had a fabulous server, who was very kind and kept up-beat even though there was a bit of a rowdy table there due to the Centre of Gravity festival that was going on - I know, rowdy at a sushi place you ask? I was surprised too, but Kelowna was quite buzzing during this festival. We ordered a number of different rolls that were all delicious and well put together, with the Ogopogo Dragon Roll being super tasty - I definitely recommend trying it! And, even though it was pretty hot out, we had the miso soup which was very nice and not too salty. Overall, I was really happy to have eaten at Momo again and that the service and quality has stayed the same over 2 years. This place was average. We came here as a family of three on a week day in early September at 4pm. Restaurant was not busy, and very well staffed. We ordered three rolls, miso soup, seafood assorted tempura, and yakisoba. Nothing really stood out, and the seafood tempura was the most disappointing at the highest price point. On the menu, it was described as having an assortment of seafood (14 pieces? I can't quite remember), such as clams, prawns, mussels, cod, etc. I ended up with two imitation crab pieces, which are not really seafood, are they? The tempura dip given was Chinese oyster sauce, or something very similar. There were at least three servers, and no one bothered to fill our water unless asked. But the servers were always pleasant, and the chefs behind the sushi bar all greeted us upon arrival. Nice little place, but the food was just average or a bit below. read more
