BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! We hired them to find a nanny to help watch our eight month old and three-year-old little girls. By pure luck we found out from a friend of ours that they had previously hired this person that she stolen from their family and another family they knew. After doing further research and background checks we found out that she had been arrested for prostitution but her case had been dismissed. When we went to her Facebook page it was obvious as there were several provocative pictures. We checked her references and found out that she had lied about them. We called the owner of MBF and he was not willing to give us a refund and later would not give us a credit to help us find another nanny. I can't think of a more horrific situation, by putting a person that had been arrested for prostitution and stolen from several families with us and our little girls AND THEN BEING SO TIGHT AS NOT TO GIVE US A REFUND! MBF did not do their job, had they done a more thorough background check, called her references or even looked at her Facebook page they would have seen the signs. Sine we were paying Moms Best Friend, we had just assumed that she had met all the necessary qualifications rather than doing our own research, our mistake. BEWARE!!!!! read more

This company is awful and you should run! We used MBF for a night nanny for our newborn twins. MBF highly recommended a "newborn specialist" who ended up abusing our precious babies by shaking them and slapping them in the head for months during the night. This woman was named "Nanny of the Year with MBF for years. When we sent MBF the shocking video footage they asked us to sign a legal document in exchange to keep quiet and a partial refund. We were horrified by their lack of empathy and greed. No amount of money is worth this happening to another precious child. read more

We decided to use MBF as we don't have any family here and thought we would get quality candidates and peace of mind in knowing we would have childcare coverage from a reliable loving person. We were left completely high and dry by their nanny, Maritza. We feel so hurt and violated by our experience and want other families to beware and think twice before using this service. We paid top dollar and provided all meals and snacks and were accommodating when our nanny needed days off. She was unreliable and left us without coverage on multiple occasions and walked out and quit without notice during a time we needed help the most. We feel so very upset we trusted this person and let her get to know our child and then had to explain she was never coming back and we didn't even understand why. The agency hasn't been able to provide any other candidates at this time and this has put a serious strain on us during the holidays. Per Jessica and Kimberly Mom's best friend has a no refund policy so even if they don't provide you with a nanny you are still out of pocket thousands for nothing. They have a temporary service where they can send you a nanny you've never met (if one is available) and have a stranger stay with your child until they locate candidates for you. Update: They sent us a nanny that is "looking for long term work but prefers to work with older children", which is unacceptable considering we have a 2 year old. Again, we never expected one of their nannies to quit without notice as we thought their nannies would have been screened and trained and basically better human beings. PLEASE BEWARE before using this agency. It's expensive to use this service and the candidates are not of any better quality than what you can find on your own and they really will not do anything for you if you find yourself in a situation like ours. I have never posted a negative review ever, but this is my daughter here and something this serious, it needed to be said. read more

I leveraged Mom's Best Friend to find a new nanny for our Family. They sent us a ton of candidates, and we selected someone promising who was a former nanny in NY. In the first month we could tell that she her heart was not in it. She would come to us during the day frusrated, and unsure on how to work through situations. After about six weeks we talked, and she said she was not sure she wanted to be a nanny anymore. We gave it some time, things did not improve, and at three months she gave notice. MBF apologied, and offered to help us with a new nanny search. However they were not willing to refund the several thousand dollars we paid for their nanny. Buyer beware. read more

We had babysitters from MBF several times and we had great experiences in the past. The babysitters were punctual and organized. We live in an apartment complex and the babysitters we had before always make sure to ask for detailed directions ahead of time. I was impressed with MBF. My husband and I had a very important business meeting today and we didn't hesitate to get a babysitter from MBF again. It was scheduled and confirmed well ahead of time. Since we had to be on time for this business meeting, I had phoned the assigned babysitter ahead of time to provide detailed directions and communicate the importance of being on time today. To my surprise I got a call from the babysitter right at the time was scheduled to arrive. She told me she is giving me a "courtesy" call and she is running late. Obviously I got really upset and the babysitter started to give me attitude over the phone. Unfortunately we had to tell her she was no longer needed for the following reasons: 1) We were already running late for our business meeting. 2) I didn't trust such an irresponsible person to watch my kid. It was such a short notice that we couldn't find anyone to watch our toddler and we had to bring him to the meeting which is totally inappropriate and stressful. Based on this experience, I'm hesitant to use MBF again at least not for something that's really important. I will not recommend it to my colleagues and friends. read more

I'm a single mom that joined mbf a few years ago. The first year was great. They always came through with good sitters and good last minute help for me which I really needed. But this past year has been terrible. The last 5 times I have called them they could not find me a sitter. I do not know why I paid the 100 dollars for there services this year when they have not been able to help me out once this year. read more

We were traveling to Austin and had a few business meetings and events that we did not want to bring our young children to. The hotel concierge recommended Mom's Best Friend. The staff was helpful and it was easy to schedule time with "one of their most beloved and requested babysitters" for Friday and Saturday night. When the babysitter arrived, she seemed nice enough and, with the glowing review from the service, we felt comfortable to leave our children in her care for 4 hours while we attended a company dinner. When we came back at 10:30 the kids were bouncing off the walls, but they seemed happy (and most importantly they were alive) so we were pretty happy as we paid the babysitter for her time. After the babysitter left, my wife went to take off her makeup and realized that some of her makeup and lotion was missing. This was strange because she had just used some of the lotion prior to leaving. She keeps her makeup secured in a bag that our kids can't open high on a counter top so we felt it unlikely that they would have had a chance to get into it. We didn't want to jump to any conclusions and make accusations that we would later regret. So we did an exhaustive search of the hotel room and contacted the babysitter to see if there was any "misunderstanding" about the makeup. She said the kids never went near the makeup and were never out of her sight. She claimed she didn't know what happened to the makeup and offered no possible alternative. It was pretty clear to us as we did not have maid service that day and there were a lot of missing things that we could not find after turning over every corner of the hotel room. Clearly there is a major issue here because it wasn't just one thing it was several things that were missing. My wife kept noticing more and more missing as she would go to use things. As it happens it was the expensive Sephora and Ulta products and not the cheap stuff that was gone. I wonder is anything else that we haven't noticed yet? It has been driving me crazy. We called Mom's Best Friend and they were nice and apologetic. They offered a refund of our service fee which we appreciate. We were told that a manager would follow up with the babysitter. They also asked my wife not to give them a bad review. I found this a little troubling since it made me wonder how many other people have found themselves in this situation using this service. They told us they had sent this lady out over 100 times to other people! I normally don't post, but felt I had to share our experience. We were left wondering about their background checks and who the heck we had watching our kids. I mean really who does this? Is it a cry for help or some mental problem? She was going to see us the next day! I have no idea what is going on with the sitter, but it was alarming so we elected not to cancel and not use the service to find anyone else for the second night. I realize it must be hard to run a referral service because you never really know how people are going to work out. I suggest they redouble their efforts on background checks and quality control. The manager may want to work with our sitter to get her some help or mental evaluation prior to sending her out to any more unsuspecting families. read more

I have worked as a babysitter/nanny off and on since I was about thirteen. I usually find clients by word of mouth, and had never gone through an agency until I discovered MBF through Google. I have worked for them as a temp nanny, never having the flexibility to go permanent due to school and other personal obligations, and almost two years later I can confidently say MBF is the best. They have worked very hard to help me get temp jobs when I have had open availability and make sure I am contacted when I am requested back by a family. If you are a nanny looking for a job MBF is a great way to start. They really consider your needs when trying to find a match and it is very comforting to know they have your back if anything goes wrong. This also applies if you are a family looking for a nanny, MBF has an extensive screening process and their staff is great at what they do. Anyone is lucky to be a nanny at MBF or to have an MBF nanny. read more

DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY! I wish I could select no stars. We were new to Austin and wanted housecleaning and laundry help. We paid Mom's Best Friend to find us a housekeeper. Initially, they only offered one candidate. They said there were no other candidates in the area, so we hired her. The fee was around $5,500!!! This woman hated housecleaning and had no idea what she was doing. She ruined tons of clothes, sheets and towels. She broke our dishwasher. She broke our vacuum cleaner. It was a nightmare. I asked Mom's Best Friend to replace her. This time, it took months before they again offered only one candidate. I was smarter this round, and called the references myself (even though this is what I had paid Mom's Best Friend to do). The references did not check out, so they offered one more candidate. We hired her because it had been months and we were under the impression there was no one else available. She was a good cleaner, but after working for us for almost 6 months, she texted us when we were on vacation that she would not be coming back. She was taking care of our pets for extra money while we were away, and we had no back up plan to feed them! So, for $5,500 and over the course of one year, we got three candidates--two had no experience and the other one walked out when we needed her with no notice. You can go to other sources to get great housekeeping help. In one day online, we were able to get dozens of candidates. They will even run background checks for you-all for a few hundred dollars-not thousands! We had multiple choices who had great references, and after interviewing them, we had several we wanted to hire! So, do not waste your money with this agency. You will definitely be very sorry. You will be out thousands of dollars and have someone who is unreliable come in to your house and cause great damage to your home. read more

I normally do not write reviews, but I have had several experiences with this agency, and my most recent has prompted me to do this. I needed a sitter for an event in Horseshoe bay which is about 60 miles outside of Austin. The hotel was unable to assist me, so I called MBF and they stated they would probably be able to find me a sitter if I was willing to pay a travel fee, to which I gladly agreed. Within a day, a sitter by the name of Busola was booked. I had used this sitter before, and was glad to have someone who knew my kids. We spoke almost 2 weeks before the event, and I stated I would call her with the hotel info once I got it. On the day of the event, I tried to call her a couple times with no answer. I called the after hour line at MBF, and they I should not worry, unless it is "4 o clock" and she does not show. This was 2 hours before the event. About 1 hour before the event, Busola called and told me her car was having problems and that it was fixed and she would be on her way. I realized she would be late, but we had a buffer. Than at 3:16 she texted saying she would be late. At 4:03, she called saying she was 2 miles out and her car was stalled. We offered to pick up her, but she insisted she had 2 guys to help her that she just met, and that she would be there. At that point the agency called, and stated it was ok for me to pick her up. Busola called and when we offered to pick her up, she kept saying it would be another 5 minutes. She kept doing this until it was too late to pick her up, and at that point she called (35 minutes before the shuttle left for the wedding), and said nothing could be done for her car. There was no road noise in the background. I talked to a couple locals, and stay said 45 minutes from Austin to Horseshoe Bay, was "logistically impossible" and that it takes at least 1 hour and 20 minutes. I think this sitter fabricated this story, leaving me no time for back up care, to keep her reputation with the agency. The agency was unable to provide a back up sitter, so we had no sitter for an event we spent a good sum of money to attend. They tried to comp me a date night, but we do not live in the local area. Prior to this, I hired a nanny from them to care for my premature twins. She had no infant experience, and required weeks of training which I had to spend my entire maternity leave doing. When we called with our concerns, they were not taken seriously. This nanny also had serious reliability issues calling out once every 2 weeks. I have discussed this situation with a very well regarded agency who stated MBF should have never even let me see a candidate with no infant experience. Overall, I think this agency need to vet and be more selective of its candidates. For the nanny services, its prices are higher than many well regarded agencies in large cities, yet the service is no better than a large internet nanny service. read more

I even had a few candidates that I interviewed outside of MBF and they offered to help me vet them and run background checks. I don't like to write a bad review but this time I think it's necessary to warn the other moms. I submitted my application for the part time Nanny 2-3 days per week, two times. After a while they couldn't recommend any body and they said we don't have any applicants available. Unfortunately they first charge you for application, membership fee then they say that!! The only person that they recommended and we interviewed and accepted her rate and conditions said that got another job! Eventually they send us to their temporary department to find temporary nanny, no guarantee that the same person comes every week. Who brings different caregivers for her child 2-3 days per week?!!!!! If you are looking for somebody part time for long term don't try this company. Also there are a lot of good companies that they can send you temporary nanny or date night nanny without charging the expensive application fee. It was such a waste of time and money!!!! read more
