I love this location! While I was running errands I stopped here because its 10x better than Rockville as far as availability of items. The layout is completely different. I needed stuff for my cold press machine. Beets/pineapple/ ginger a dash of Ceylon cinnamon and a sprinkle of monk fruit sweetener.. ( thank me later) I love their bulk section of natural herbs Elderberries, marshmallow root ( good for your gut health) Lemon balm. However my tummy been giving me issues and Tums is no help. The nice employee suggested Wonderbelly. It helps with morning sickness , nausea and acid reflux etc. Im def coming here more often. read more

The lady manager assumes the worst in people and likes to embarrass and speak to them in a condescending manner in public. I forgot to put my handicap placard in the window of my car. She came over and announced herself and why she was coming over to talk to me for all to hear. The salesperson helping me ran away as the manager approached. I apologized for my mistake and reassured I did have a placard. I would have gladly gone back to my car to hang the placard but decided to end my shopping right there and then, so I paid for my stuff and left. All she had to do was let me know in a courteous manner. I will not be returning. read more

The Reverse Osmosis water dispenser at the Mom's in Frederick, MD is on the fritz. The water smells heavily of chlorine. In fact when I opened the plexiglass doors to fill my jugs it smelled like a swimming pool. The water smelled of chlorine when I got it home as well. I hope they fix the problem. Came into town for some military training for 10 days and needed to stock my room with daily essentials. Additionally, I didn't want to spend a lot of money in restaurants. Found this market directly across the street from my hotel. Proximity was definitely convenient. The store was stocked with many of the foods that I normally eat and the prices were extremely reasonable. The store was nearly stocked and strategically placed. The atmosphere was like your neighborhood grocery. The workers were pleasant and very helpful. First time in this store however have seen them all over Maryland. Will definitely frequent this establishment more often. read more

They don't have a hot bar here but you'll find: - Fresh & organic produce - Some meats - Free coffee/tea samples - Bulk items (dried beans, granola, etc.) - Prepared & packaged vegetarian & vegan foods - Dairy & eggs - Snacks - Supplements Excellent & friendly customer service. This particular location is sketchy. They'll put out for sale/clearance things that have already been opened such as a vitamin supplement I bought from the clearance section. When I went to use the product at home, I discovered the safety seal was missing. Once I bought a chocolate bar on sale and when I opened it, it was so stale it crumbled. When I went to return it, staff advised me it was just that I didn't like it because it was vegan and it's a matter of taste. Wha? Additionally, certain staff are very rude and unhelpful, especially in the beauty department. Besides the nicer white haired lady that works in said department. I've noticed that in terms of affordability and customer service, the Common Market is superior. I have given this store many chances but will not be returning.l read more

I love moms! They have an amazing assortment of organic foods, vitamins, and responsibly sourced products. Not only that but their staff is so kind and courteous! Moms produce section is sourced from local vendors and offers a wide variety of seasonal produce. If you are a meat eater their are lots of organic and free range animal products and for vegans and vegetarians the options are endless. Not only do I shop here for my groceries, but I also drop off my compost, and other recyclables that I cannot normally recycle through Frederick county. This is a great service that moms offers and I wish more grocery stores did so. Need some organic beauty products? Vitamins? Maybe some protein powder? Moms has all of that as well. I used to think that organic stores are such an expensive place to shop, but I gave it a try at Moms store and it turned out that it's not that bad. I can buy dairy and meat and it's about the same price as Giant. I don't really buy vegetables from moms, since some of them are about 2 times more expensive, but they have great selection and they are really fresh. They always have free coffee and some samples. The staff are super nice and they give stickers to Kids at the register :-) The staff always offer to carry ur stuff to your car if you are with Kids or you have so much grocery. I like MOM. I come here about twice a week for fresh produce and such. It's so small and homey inside. It's like a little classic grocery store, small and tidy. The associates always ask you if you need any help and they always have samples set out for you to try as well. The organic produce in here is way better and rich than the organic produce in your non organic commercial grocery stores. Regardless of price, I'd rather put organic products in my body than pesticides and chemicals, which to me is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family. When I want to get a lot of grocery shopping done I just drive to Harris Teeter in Leesburg. But when I just need fruit, dog food, rice dream and some vegetarian vitamins I go here. They have a large tea section, great organic bread from Spring Mill Bread Co., and lots of fresh leafy greens. They have an abundance of soy and rice products if you don't consume dairy. They have everything. Their canned goods are a bit over priced, about 1.29 per canned good and sometimes more. So I would just go to the regular grocery store for canned goods and buy Natures Promise brand. If you bring in a reusable bag, they give you either 14cents or 40cents (can't remember) off your total purchase per reusable brag that you bring in. read more

I have to agree with Maria H here... I want to like this place more than I actually like it. I was all excited to check MOMs out because other reviewers compared it to Whole Foods. Um, this is not like Whole Foods. It's small. They have no fresh meat or deli counters. No bakery, and a very limited selection of fresh bread. It doesn't look like anything is made on site. And frankly, their selection of even fruits and veggies is limited. I'd like to think it's because they are carrying all local stuff, but that's not even true. When I think organic I think fresh, and with such a small section of fresh stuff, it really left me wanting more. Out of the five or six aisles in the store, only one was fresh produce, meat, cheese, and prepared items. Everything else was juice and snacks and frozen food and home and beauty items. I think maybe I'm not their ideal customer because to be honest, I'm not that into organic food. I'll eat it, I'll eat non-organic- as long as it's good, and reasonably priced, it's fine with me. I went to MOMs because I thought I'd get some interesting varieties and brands I couldn't get elsewhere. I didn't really get that. They do carry frozen dog food which I thought was interesting. And the staff did seem very nice. But I can't see myself shopping here very often when Wegman's is in town, and they have tons of prepared foods and lots of variety. read more

Not bad. I've just been to places with a far better selection and more knowledgeable help. Regarding the former - I saw far more chips and packaged goods than actual fresh produce or whole foods. Regarding the latter - my experience was pleasant in all the interactions, but disappointing and a bit telling in the outcome. I just needed some figs for a killer "roasted fig with honey and goat cheese" appetizer recipe for Thanksgiving. It's the Wednesday before. Forget about Giant, Safeway, etc. I know for sure Wegman's has them - but they're an hour the other way, and the clock's ticking on holiday traffic. Every minute spent finding figs is going to cost me 3 minutes sitting in the building traffic flow west. I figured for sure one of the Frederick specialty markets would have figs. The others I called said no. I called MOM's - and the produce guy said "yeah, we have them". I fight through traffic, buzz into the store, look through the entire produce section. No figs. More searching. Still no figs. Several produce guys and clerks later ... it turns out that most of the help in the store thinks the dried, nut-coated date logs in the refrigerator case are "fresh figs." This wouldn't strike me as unusual at Giant or Food Lion. But I think Jay L hit it with his review ... if the staff, no matter how friendly (which they were) doesn't know the difference between a fresh fig (an actual whole fruit) and a dried mini date log (a prepared item manufactured from a number of ingredients) ... then what makes this place anything more than a slightly expanded version of any old Safeway specialty section? Or more specifically, why would I pay more to shop here? If I lived nearby, this would be a nice market alternative. But there's no compelling reason to make a longer trip here vice plenty of other places. read more

MOM's is the holy grail of all grocery stores. It's a small and tidy store with a lot to offer without being overwhelming. I love that they collaborate with local farmers and small businesses -- by doing so, won them points in my book. Costs are high, but it is well worth it in terms of a long-term investment in health. What's to like? It's a big "organic section" from you local Giant. There's nothing special about it that I can't find elsewhere, better. There's a Common Market (Co-Op) down the road on 85 that's bigger, nicer, and just damn better. I was really underwhelmed by MOM's. I came in with the intention of stocking up for the week but left with a handful of items. The store is small and doesn't have a big selection. The biggest letdown for me was they don't have a fresh meat and seafood counter. They only had a few prepackaged steaks in one cut and exactly one package of pork. Other items that I might have bought were a lot more expensive than at Whole Foods. The ready to eat foods were dismal. There were plenty of sandwiches and some Asian offerings but they were all vegan, which I am not. So popping in here for lunch before a movie isn't an option for me. As others have noted, the staff is very friendly. It's also nice that they have free water and coffee up front. I just wish MOM's was more of a grocery store and not a specialty shop. read more

Love it. Everything about this place. STAFF: At this location, along with every other location I have been to is so incredibly above and beyond helpful and super knowledgable. It is a refreshing change of pace from the usual retail nits to deal with. PRODUCE: Everything is organic, and when applicable, local. Whole Foods is an OK alternative, but even there you have to sift through the "conventional" vs. "organic" produce. I mean "conventional" - shouldn't that be organic? Seriously, farmers farmed conventionally for thousands of years without pesitcides, hormones, etc. But I digress... back to produce. Mom's has 100% organic produce at really reasonable prices (NOT when compared to hormone/pesticide/herbicide ridden counterparts). If there is something you have had before, and cannot find it in their store, they will absolutely special order it for you. Which I suppose you could do on Amazon - but when I compared prices they offered for a dietary supplement, they were actually CHEAPER than any online store I found.. so.... yea go figure on that one. The only complaint I have about this store is that it was 30 minutes from my apartment. Some of the best veggies in the DC area. Seriously I go into whole foods and go EW VOMIT. This is also the closest thing that Frederick has to a juice bar- they have a pretty good selection of various healthy drinks (wheat grass type stuff) which I haven't seen for sale anywhere else in the area. Oh yeah and sometimes they get some pretty excellent steaks in there. Super expensive but so good you'll cry. Eating steaks from an ordinary grocery store is like eating dirt. The bulk stuff is a little pricey..but I love shopping there and knowing that whatever I buy is going to be as planet friendly as possible. That's rad. I still managed to feed myself on about $30/week. 30 bucks a week to eat super healthy? I can dig it. Oh I guess another gripe I have is they don't have normal peanut butter. Or fresh fish. There's no meat counter at this location (there are at at least one of the others) so the fish is all pre-cooked or frozen. I think they're a little cheaper than Common Market and I personally like the selection better. Shop here, you will be happy. read more

As other reviewers have noted, MOM's has a limited selection, especially in the meat and produce sections, and baked goods. However, I love that I can stock my pantry here without coming home with a bunch of junk. It's a safe place to shop for basic food items and snacks, and the produce and meat that they DO have is quality. MOM's is also in a convenient location for me, so between the location and the accessible selection, I can stop here without feeling completely overwhelmed by the Supermarket Experience. You quickly come to recognize the staff members, and there is complimentary coffee and tea at the front of the store for you. Sometimes they even have hot chocolate. The nice warm beverage helps make this even more of a low-stress grocery experience. And staff members will help you carry bags to your car if you need assistance. The overall feel is similar to a grocery chain version of a food co-op. Not bad, in my book! read more
