The store manager/owner has to be up front and clear when it come to the alterations once i purchase the dress and the transaction went thru she told me that I needed to pay extra for alternations she knew the day of the my daughters wedding and she also knew that your seamstress was sick and didn't know if she was going to make the necessary alternations on time. I still made an appointment and then I received a call to reschedule because again the seamstress was still sick. BAD BUSINESS.. save your time and your money and go somewhere else. read more

When I called to set an appointment, Teresa said "bring whoever you want to see the dress for your son's Wedding because you will find it when you come in!" My mom wanted me to meet her here so she can try on two dresses she tried on that she loved for my wedding. I live almost an hour away from Addison. They say they opened at 11. So I got there at 11 And waited until 11:15. Sign said "closed" still at that time. Called multiple time, no answer. Waited until 12:25. Another lady was also waiting, but outside for it to open too. Still, not open. It's just not okay to own a business and not open when you say you are. I can't control what my mom does. But I would not give this boutique my business. Located next door to Caputo's in Addison it is a very, very tempting store that often has me finding reasons to go grocery shopping so that I can just pop into this little Italian boutique to browse. This is not a trip to the mall, this is a boutique. If you want to add a rhinestone to that top you try on - they'll do it with their in-house seamstress. They have the most amazing gowns for any formal event but the true reason I go? Accessories! Purses, rings, bracelets, neckalces, purses, belts, shoes and my favorite; sunglasses. I was looking for a dress for my son's wedding, had looked at several bridal stores but didn't find anything I liked. I also ordered some dresses online which I ended up returning. I was so discouraged! I saw Mona Lisa while grocery shopping nearby, and thought I'd make an appointment and see what kind of dresses they had. I was very pleasantly surprised! First, they have lots and lots of dresses! They have all kinds of dresses and accessories for any occasion you may have. The ladies who own the store, Teresa and Carmella, were so nice! They are very knowledgeable and experienced, and were extremely helpful in choosing the right style, color and size that was right for me. This place may be good for Prom girls but not for Mother of the Bride. They were so snobby saying how great they are but couldn't give me the time of day or help me. Weekday night and was not busy. Pulled my own dresses and Theresa had the nerve to say you will never fit in that and took it out of the dressing room and never returned with anything. Very rude store! My mother was shopping for her dress for my wedding. When she walked into the store a woman was working on another dress, she seemed very annoyed that she had to stop doing what she was doing to help out my mother. When she took her back to see the dresses she was very rude to my mom, she did not offer for her to try on any of the dresses and would not let her look at any of the prices or tags. The lady told my mother that since she did not have her shoes and undergarments it would be hard to assist her, but how could she possible have her shoes and undergarments when she doesn't even know what dress she is buying? I would think that every business would want to pride themselves in customer satisfaction and treat every person the same no matter what shape, size or age they are. Shopping for your mother of the bride dress should be an exciting experience, instead she left feeling that she wasn't good enough to be in this store. Horrible. I called the store to get the managers or owners email address to share this experience and the person on the phone was rude to me, then after asking several times they finally gave it to me. Do not shop here for Prom Dresses. My daughter was sized and fitted for a prom dress, when the dress arrived it didn't fit. It was too small. The owners of the store said that since there was nothing wrong with the dress, it was our problem. Their policy is (and the only place it is posted is on their receipt) no returns no exchanges. I purchased this dress over the phone, and spoke to Carmella three different times and never did she explain to me their return policy. When I asked her why, she said, I don't have to. The owner of this store called the police on me because, I wanted a credit for the dress. They sized my daughter for the dress, they ordered the dress, and the dress didn't fit. You couldn't zip it. They were very rude! I would never shop here and I am telling as many people as I can not to shop at this boutique. read more

NEVER. EVER. SHOP HERE. Unfortunately when I read the reviews before I went in, only the top three 5-star reviews came up. I went in to find a dress for the Miss Illinois USA pageant, and they had many beautiful designs. Unfortunately, the women working there don't have beautiful personalities or ethics. I bought a Tony Bowls dress and it needed to be taken in by their seamstress. She pinned me, and when they called me to come pick up the "fixed" dress, I came to find that it was never taken in at all. It fit the exact same as it did when I first tried it on. The woman in the store, Theresa, refused to give us any attention since she was too preoccupied with scamming more customers. A day or so later, my mother spoke to that same woman on the phone about the dress. Theresa was very rude and raised her voice multiple times. She cut my mom off, and accused her of "trying to get something for nothing." Mind you, the dress had never left the store. They still currently have our money AND the dress. I needed the dress immediately for the pageant so I could have pictures in my competition dress, and they did not care at all about my deadlines. Instead, they argued and said that our deadline was a different date. I guess the customer isn't always right in their eyes? I think I would know my deadlines better than they would, though. My mom tried to reason with the inconsiderate imbecile, but got nowhere. When she asked for the credit back on her card, Theresa raised her voice and said "Well, that's not going to happen!" Apparently, they have no returns, exchanges, or refunds. The only time we were informed of this was AFTER my mom signed the credit card receipt. If we were informed of it before purchasing, we might not have bought such an ill-fitting dress. But I guess that's their whole angle, isn't it? The owner even said herself, "We like to SELL dresses, we don't hold them and wait for you to think about it." Selfish acts by a fraudulent retailer. Since she has done this to multiple people according to the Yelp reviews, we can't wait to call the BBB and the Attorney General about it. This store does have some nice things. Our family has made several purchases,but our experiences dealing with them has not been good. Theresa and Carmella are very rude and unethical.They are always trying to push you to buy something. No matter what, they say everything you put on looks fabulous.They try to sell samples with damage and defects as new first quality products, and when you point things out to them that are not perfect, they get nasty with you and act like you were wrong for pointing out the things you noticed . Do not buy someone a gift. All sales are final. No returns or exchanges. I will never go to this store again. They are not the kind of people I would recommend doing business with. If they have a dress you like, your best bet is to find another place to buy it.. Their seamstress is not employed by Mona Lisa to do alterations. You can not put the alterations on the bill when you buy the dress. You have you make your own deal with her and pay her on a separate bill. I was so disgusted with how I and the group of girls that I was with were treated. They made us feel like we were a nuesance and in the way of their business. My wife was looking for a mother-of-the-bride dress and we pretty much scoured every store out there, and nothing jumped out at us at all. I found a Jovani dress at Mona Lisa for my wedding. The dress I tried on in the store was a size 10 and I needed a size 4. They took my measurements and told me they would order the dress in my size. They had me pay for the dress before they would order it. Weeks later, I received a call that my dress had come in. Instead of ordering a new dress in the correct size, they attempted to alter the size 10 dress they had in their store to fit my measurements. It fit horribly. I did research and found out that the dress I picked had actually been discontinued. It was not even possible for them to order the dress. I know this because I called Jovani myself to verify it. Theresa at Mona Lisa lied to me from the beginning. The seams on the inside of the dress had been cut, were not finished off, and they removed the original size 10 tag on the inside, then they sewed a different size tag in place and tried to pass it off as a new dress. I have pictures of the tag they sewed in place compared to what a new Jovani tag looks like. When I went in to talk with Theresa at Mona Lisa about it, she refused to return my money, which was over $800. She was extremely rude and called the police. I took the dress to a tailor and spent hundreds of dollars more to try to salvage it. I ended up having to buy a second dress to replace the mess created by Mona Lisa. PLEASE BEWARE! Theresa, owner of Mona Lisa Boutique, said she would order a brand new size 4 dress for me because the dress I wanted and tried on was 6 sizes too big. It was the only one they had. They took my measurements and said they would verify the size with the manufacturer. The dress I received was not a new, unaltered dress. The inside of the dress had additional rows of stitching in a different color than the original manufacturer stitching. Several areas were hand stitched. The fabric had been cut. A different size tag had been sewn in place (you can see where the holes remain from the manufacturer machine stitching where the tag had been removed and then resewn in place by hand. Please take a look at the photos so you can see what I'm describing). I did not authorize Mona Lisa to do any type of alterations whatsoever. This dress was made up of four layers of material. When paying full price for a new dress that costs over $800, people like you and me should not have to literally turn it inside out and inspect seams in multiple layers to be sure a business owner does what they say they're going to do. Trusting them was a big mistake. When I asked to see the paperwork from the manufacturer proving they ordered a new size 4 dress, they didn't have it. When I asked to see the dress that I originally tried on that was too big, they didn't have that either and didn't know what happened to it. I called the manufacturer and found out that the dress was actually a discontinued dress and was not available from the manufacturer, which explains why they didn't have the paperwork saying they purchased a new size 4 dress for me. Mona Lisa makes you pay in full and once they have your money, too bad for you. They turned quickly from being nice to being extremely rude, deceitful, unprofessional business people. read more

The dresses here are good, but just like any other boutique. The reason I advise that you DO NOT STEP FOOT INTO THIS BOUTIQUE is because the women working here are horrendous. I went to Mona Lisa with three of my friends (seniors in high school). Obviously, prom is around the corner and we are looking for dresses. After we tried on one dress, the women working there came up to us and spat "Excuse me girls, but are you just here to have fun? Because honestly, I do not have time for kids like you. I do not have time for you guys." She was extremely rude. First of all I thought, "Is this how you treat your customers?" We were there shopping with $300-$400 prom dresses in mind and she basically told us that she doesn't have time for us when we did NOTHING WRONG. We were very respectful and gave her no reason to think we were there for fun-- other than our appearances, which leads me to believe they only think people with certain appearances can truly afford or buy dresses from their shop. One of my friends was actually planning on buying a $400 dress and went back to the store the following week with her mother, and the woman working there refused to let her try on the dress because if was "out of her price range". My friend never even mentioned a price range, but again the woman assumed that my friend was there "for fun" again even though she was accompanied by an adult. I honestly do not understand their logic. What happened to customer service? They throw that concept out the window. If you try on a dress and don't like it, they think you're there for fun. If you don't fit into a certain stereotype, then they automatically label dresses costing more than $300 out of your price range. Honestly, I loved one of the dresses there, but the fact that the women working there are complete godzillas made me NEVER want to think about that store again. read more
