Today, while I was browsing the quality selection of clothing; I witnessed a beautiful act of kindness from Jen to a stranger that entered her store. I will not go into detail as it is not my story to tell. However, I will say, the generosity I saw today will stay in my heart and mind forever. However, don't let that price tag deter you from checking out redE - seems they have clothes to fit every budget. Sifting through the racks, I came across many beautifully-cut pieces. The boutique carries clothing by some fabulous designers, including Theory, Black Halo, Hale Bob and my favorite dress designer, Alice + Olivia (see above reference to $600 dress). The sales associate was friendly and helpful, though left me to my own devices when I said I was just browsing (read: oohing and ahhing over everything!). All of the women there have been excellent- first rate. Sooo- I stop in today- as I usually do- and I noticed a woman I had never seen before. I noticed right off the bat that her energy was sharp toward me- and that's okay. I'm in sales- I understand that not everyone likes everyone. So- I see a sweater I like and decide to try it on. I hear her voice from behind the curtain-"I think you would be more suited to a "woman's cut " hmmmm. Now, understand none of this is solicited in any way. To which I follow with-"what does that mean?" And here's the best part- she says "you know - for women north of fifty". To which I swung the curtain open and asked - "what did you just say to me?" Because I needed to hear if hats what she actually said. Yes. She actually did say that. I don't think I need any follow up- because ,well- I guess being insulted just isn't my bag. The first thing I noticed when I walked by redE Lounge was MOTHER denim showcased in the window. Be still my heart. Ladies who like designer denim should rejoice for this offering and the other fab brands in redE Lounge - Genetic, William Rast, Townsen, Praire Underground and more. Plus, there's a nice, well-edited selection of jewelry and handbags that will satisfy any lady's craving. And interestingly enough, there's a sweet wall full of baby goods that includes Trumpette socks and loafers, adorable rock and roll inspired tees and cute gifts for the trendy kiddo. RedE Lounge is the sister boutique to redE just around the counter, so be aware that these pieces don't come cheap. Most tops fall in the $75-$200 range and denim will run you $140-$200+. The brands they carry are interesting, chic and comfortable. The name of the store is a bit of a misnomer, as I'm not sure I would be "lounging" in any of said items, but it's definitely more casual than redE. The friendly woman who was working here when I stopped in was very knowledgeable of the brands, fits and just generally very sweet to chat with. If you find yourself traipsing around Elmhurst, you should pop into redE to peruse!

This is not a trip to the mall, this is a boutique. If you want to add a rhinestone to that top you try on - they'll do it with their in-house seamstress. They have the most amazing gowns for any formal event but the true reason I go? Accessories! Purses, rings, bracelets, neckalces, purses, belts, shoes and my favorite; sunglasses. My taste in jewelry runs a little differently than what they have here. What keeps me from wanting to buy anything here is the no refund policy. I can understand why they wouldn't want to have one (they do exchanges or store credit), but that's generally too much a gamble for me. After buying an outfit for my kiddo at a different store last year that I saw after purchase was ripped and only getting a credit--which, over a year later, I have yet to redeem--I can't bring myself to buy from places that don't do refunds. The only exception I might make sometime is if I wanted a photo frame or something that there's almost zero chance I'd ever return.

I previously consigned with a larger, national brand in the city and had multiple bad experiences, the culmination of which was them literally stealing a bag from me. That would NEVER happen here. Kelsey's combines high powered expertise and reach with small business personal touch. Items I drop off are meticulously tracked, and receipts/pricing is sent for my approval usually within minutes of me leaving. I've sold many designer bags, shoes and pieces of clothing with them and have never had issues with their pricing or payouts. I'm very knowledgeable of the market myself and we always see eye to eye on pricing. You can collect your balance at the beginning of each month and they'll have a check ready and waiting for you. Despite absolutely having the knowledge and ability to resell my pieces myself, I choose to work with them because it's such a great experience from beginning to end. Their payouts are at a higher percentage than what I have seen elsewhere, but even if they weren't - I'd still choose to consign with them. Not to mention, they're super fun and just great women to know. I can't recommend them enough!

Similar to the Glenview location it carries that same old school ambience which is really quite nice. They also sometimes have a live piano player as does Glenview, which is really fantastic and create a great feeling to add to that welcome Homie sense that they build. Similar to the Glenview location I will say again really great selection. They carry great brands however because I feel like it is slightly larger they carry even more product and therefore more options. Love coming here as usual parking is pretty easy inconvenient for Yorktown and so glad that old-school type department stores still exist somewhere here in the Illinois area.
