Tailoring is a bit expensive everywhere these days but I think the value of what I got done and the short turn around time were worth it. I have come to this place numerous times and with each visit I realized that prices get higher and higher on every visit. This time I got charged $20 extra to reset my ribbons on the uniform then an extra $1.50 to line up the ribbons. We asked what was th $20 for? They said that it hurts their fingers to set the ribbons. This is a cleaners and you are saying that you charge $20 to set ribbons and another $1.50 to align them. This is crazy taking advantage of soldiers. My uniform still had hair on it which means the cleaning was not done well. read more

To start with this place has GREAT customer service. I had alterations done on an ASU jacket and I had an ACU top altered so it fit better. I was completely satisfied with everything they did. They get things done very quickly, but they also care about quality. I payed to have them set up my awards because I was feeling lazy and they did a pretty good job. They seem to be pretty well versed in the regs. Don't know if I'd do it again,but it was nice to have my uniform 100% ready to go after it was altered. Also, you gotta love that they give you a bottle of water every time you come in here. Want to add that I just had them clean my Nike desert boots. After two weeks in the field they were looking bad and smelling worse. When I got them back they looked and smelled amazing! Definitely worth doing. Paid $480 for 3 plaques and paid ahead as well. All looked great but I made a typo on the text portion and asked if I could get it fixed. They asked me to pay $25 to fix it. It was my fault the name card was wrong but I was surprised they'd charge that much. I asked them to work with me and they said they'd only charge $15 this one time. I know there is cost associated with materials and labor but I've given them more than $500 ( got two other plaques here). Bit of a let down read more

This is easily my favorite alterations/cleaners. I have never had an experience from a alterations/cleaners like Monarchs. There customer service is above the best! They took their time to get to know me as a customer, my needs, and took the time to give me recommendations on things that would better suit my needs. As soon as I entered I was immediately greeted and had water and little snacks available for me. As a first timer, they explained how their system works and for my situation when to come in to pick up my clothing. You can pay upfront or during pickup. What I really loved was that they cared enough to know me as the customer. After talking to the owner, I've learned that they use eco-friendly dry cleaning. Although it is a little pricier, the quality of the service is amazing. I have also learned that the product used is hypo-allergenic. I have found my new dry cleaning spot, especially one that pre-treats collar and cuffs of the white military shirt uniforms. Getting a complimentary bottle of water at drop off and another one at pick up is also a nice touch! Call me crazy, but I would think getting uniform dress shirts dry cleaned, they would make the creases evenly down the patch of the sleeves. I had to wet and re-iron with starch myself because the sleeves were so messed up prior to wearing them. I ha e to do this to every shirt I got done there. I assumed going to a dry cleaners in a military town, they would get the crease in the middle of the patch. There was no way I could wear my shirts. It looked HORRIBLE. Never again will I go back. They were nice and yes, I got a bottle of water but I would gladly not take a water for them to put effort into making my shirts creased evenly. Save your money and go buy an iron and stretch. Brought in two brand new Italian suits that weren't fitting quite right. They were able to take in the lower chest and waist to give the suit jackets the athletic fit that I wanted. Not only did they clean and press my ACUs to perfection, they also have a service where they set up your decorations. They did an excellent job right before my D.A. Photo. You pay for what you get and this place is no different. Some of the services can be pricey, but they know what a lot of military men and women need. They can lay out your ASU for you and they do a good job. I told them I was going to Ranger School and they knew exactly the type of sewing I needed for my uniforms and other items. My beau and I went to Monarch's to get his uniform tailored before a wedding. We were reluctant because we didn't think there was much that could be done but boy were we surprised. Despite being rather busy attending other customers, Mrs. Kim was very gracious in slowly explaining every alteration she recommended and giving uniform advice (measurements, ribbon alignment, etc). We were very impressed how knowledgeable both Kims were in the regulations. They even set up your uniform for you if you were to dry clean them and to be honest, they'd probably do a better job than we could! They also have an embroidery machine which means that they can create name tapes and guideon flags, and plaques, etc. From what Mrs. Kim tells me, they are also the only tailor shop (so far) to order and provide mini ribbons for your dress mess. Aside from military stuff, they also do traditional civilian attire from jean hems to dress alterations, so don't hesitate to go! AND they even keep an account of past billing so that you can use it when you claim your taxes (just for officers because enlisted personnel get a clothing allowance)- how convenient and thoughtful is that? ANDDDD they have free chocolate and bottled waters for their customers. Their services are a little pricier than what I am accustomed to but it's definitely worth every penny when considering the quality of work and customer service. I am a repeat customer at monarchs and have been for years. The last few times I've visited I've noticed that one of the girls that works in there doesn't do much. Today as I was being helped by 2 of the girls another customer walked in and she called the girls name and she responded I'm helping this customer, and Mrs Kim had to get up to help the customer. It seems as if there's favoritism in the store. It was very unprofessional for her to interrupt them while helping me. I'm not one to complain and remained anonymous because I dont want to be treated differently when I go back to the store. read more
