Last week while driving home from a rural park in Mount Pleasant we passed by this place. Immediately I had a rush of memories of visiting this dive bar/restaurant while attending college in Latrobe. We were planning a return trip to the area the following week as we decided to adopt a rescue dog and were visiting a shelter nearby. As we drove by I told my husband I used to go there all the time when I was in my early twenties. I also exclaimed they have the best pizza! Now this got his attention. Not just because my husband is a pizza junkie but because he knows how picky I am with pizza, almost never eating it because I don't care for it. So right then we made the decision to stop in the following week after visiting the shelter. Upon arriving one week later and as planned the place was pretty dead at 4pm. I only saw maybe 2 or three cars in the lot. I hurried to check that they were indeed opened. Now a lot has changed since I was last here. They are still a dive, but they have now separate bar and dining areas. Our plan was to order a pizza to go (take to a local brewery) so we opted to stay downstairs in the bar area and have a drink while we waited for our pie to be made. Now they separate these areas because PA bars went nonsmoking long ago. So to keep the boozing smokers happy they separated the areas. Before it used to all be on one floor, smoking and all. When we entered the bar it was very dark, very divey. I don't mind divey at all. There was only one other patron in there. I was actually pleased with that as I didn't really want to sit in a stuffy room full of smokers. The patron was engaging offering us mints from his individually wrapped bag of mints. Why was he carrying a bag of mints around? "Cause that's how the cops git ya, from yur breath." HA! Ok we politely declined. The bartender was also very nice. Don't expect a lot of options when it comes to beer. You got your main ones, Bud, Miller, Coors. Sprinkle a few others in there. No draft beer either. No problem we came for the pie. We waited for our pizza, finished up our beers and headed out to the brewery. SO the pie. Just as wonderful as I remembered it! It actually got a little cold between the time we left and ate it so it was probably way better warmer but it was absolutely phenomenal. The sauce is what makes it. It has a zing to it that I can't quite explain. Now that this place has crept back into my radar I think we will be making return trips even if it is an hour away. It's worth the drive.

Giving her 4 stars. Forgot her name now though. She was older and had two tone hair. Did an excellent job! We felt bad for her though because it was fairly busy & it seems she was running two sections by herself. I hope they don't pool tips. The only other waitress we saw took a guy who we assumed must be a regular or someone she knew back from the podium to a booth, seated him, sat down with while he looked at the menu, then took his order. Only seemed to be worried about this guy and one other table and then complained loudly so everyone could hear about how it was her day off and how she was their supervisor and had to come in because somebody called off sick. But hey good old Dennis got the personal touch! Music was way too loud. Odd people shambling around the restaurant non stop. Sadly not a lot of other options around that aren't fast food without having to drive farther. Two stars seems to be a fair assessment for this Bob Evans.

I had settled on the Turkey Breast With Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, & Baby Carrots ($10.99), along with the Lemon Loaf for dessert. My husband had decided on the Sirloin With Mushrooms & Onions, Baked Potato, & Broccoli ($11.99), with the Banana Loaf as his dessert. This was our first time at a Bob Evans location therefore, we were surprised at how extensive the menu was, definitely making it hard to choose one dish! In terms of my meal, I really loved the turkey; it was very soft, and easy to bite into, along with being moist and juicy. The gravy added a great layer of taste to the turkey, giving it that extra flavour that made it taste absolutely divine! The stuffing was situated underneath the turkey breast slices, and was a generous helping, along with the mashed potatoes, which had gravy drizzled on top of them, tasting fabulous. The cranberry relish that came as a side was to die for, I have never tasted a sauce as good, just amazing; I wanted to eat more of it! The baby carrots were a good amount, as they were warm and soft, layered with melted butter, tasting sweet and luscious! I had decided to take my lemon loaf home, as I was much too stuffed to finish it! I did like how I was given a small dish of butter to use to spread on the lemon loaf, something that you don't see often at restaurants. Overall, I really impressed with how much food we were given for each of our dishes, and how delicious it all tasted. Not one thing didn't taste good; it tasted as though a lot of hard work and love was put into making the meal taste as good as it did. I was definitely impressed with the food, and would certainly want to try more options on the menu! ATMOSPHERE: This restaurant was situated in a small town off of the Pennsylvania Turnpike therefore, there weren't too many individuals dining there when we had entered. The restaurant was quiet, and there was a lovely booth that we were seated in, with comfortable cushions. The temperature of the restaurant was perfect, and everything was very clean, along with inviting. I loved how they sold hats, t-shirts, and food items at the front related to Bob Evans; definitely a great thing to have as a souvenir! This restaurant felt like a family-run business, something that I love to support. SERVICE: When we had walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a kind, older woman, who brought us to our booth. She then handed us our menus, and told us that our server will be by shortly to take our orders. Once our server arrived, we had placed our orders, and was given our food quite quickly. Our server was kind throughout all of our interactions with her, and even came over to see how we were doing as we were eating. Definitely great customer service all-around! COST: 1 Turkey Breast With Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Baby Carrots & Lemon Loaf: $10.99 + 1 Sirloin With Mushrooms & Onions, Baked Potato, Broccoli & Banana Loaf: $11.99: $22.98 + Tax = $24.36 WOULD YOU RETURN? Without a doubt! Bob Evans knows how to make good food, have great service, and make all patrons feel welcome! Would definitely want to try more items on their menu!

I had a terrific waitress who was completely swamped with tables. I ordered the salad bar and a grilled cheese sandwich. Amazingly it came to darn near $20. The salad bar was not good. The lettuce was all brown, and the toppings were very slowly refilled. I also noticed that the person refilling the toppings was just dumping them onto already standing product; this is a food violation because you are not supposed to put New on top of old. Everyone in our party agreed - it was good, but just not great. Our dine in service was also just so-so but to be fair, the restaurant did seem to be understaffed. My dining partner's soup arrived warm not hot as did the fries on my steak salad. We probably should have sent the food back to be warmed but we didn't see our server again until we were almost finished. Today's takeout was much better both in temperature and service but once again, the food was just ok - nothing that would compel me to want to come back. Eat 'n Park has always been a mainstay when I visit the area. I'm not going to give up - I'm sure I'll give it another try next time I'm back in the Latrobe area. Like life, you encounter people of every description and quality. I posted my first review about this vendor at the market last year. During this new season, I was stopped as I was going past by the same woman I had encountered during my 1st visit. If you'd think her attitude had changed, I can assure you that it had not. She immediately attacked me about the review I had left. At no time did she offer to make anything right. Once again, she bragged about how great her products are and that she sells thousands. In addition, she made a concerted effort to make me feel guilty about my review. She asked how I felt about leaving a poor review of a family business. Well, I can assure you that I feel just fine. I believe my reviews are honest and assess my opinions of the products and level of service. She yelled at me that I should have brought the jars back. At that point, I didn't remember if I did or didn't return the bad product. I stated that I thought I had, but she yelled at me that I never returned them. At no time did she ask me any questions or offer any solutions. I was in the business of customer service for many years. I have never fixed the blame. I always strived to fix the problem. She may well do very well at her stand, but there is always room for improvement. From her attitude, everything is perfect in her own world and pleasing customers is the furthest thing from her mind. I have never once seen her stand jammed with an overabundance of customers, as I have seen at many other stands. I don't see it as a product issue, since there are people willing to pay a price for small jars of relishes and jams. I see this as an attitude issue. The woman is not friendly and I don't get a good feeling dealing with her. I don't believe that being combative solves any issues.

I had purchased three of their popular items, apple bourbon maple jam, raw fermented ginger beet kraut, and pickled red beets. These items have been outstanding. The jam as described has real apple chunks in it and when spread on bread it tastes like an apple pie. Made with quality ingredients including the maple syrup from Paul's family farm it is worth the investment. The kraut is red pink due to the beets but you can taste the pickle in it. It makes a great side dish and will keep in the fridge for some time. My understanding is that it is one of their more popular items. With the markets winding down for the season you can still shop for their products on their website or you can purchase their products at East End food coop or Shenot's farm and market in Wexford. It is my hope to visit their Latrobe brick and mortal location when I'm in the area to stock up on more of their "farm to jar" as they call it products. Even if you are looking for pickles you won't be disappointed.

Today is my birthday and I wanted to go here to celebrate with my family. Although I was craving a Supreme Pizza, others made diverse selections which I think provides a pretty conclusive picture. Bottom line is, this is a good pizza restaurant with good craft beers on tap. It is not a good upscale food restaurant . We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer. They were ok, needed some salt, but the breading was good. My husband ordered the special, surf and turf which was prime rib and crab cakes. Which was supposed to come with a salad, which he never got, and two sides. The pasta side was penne with a very bland tomato sauce, it actually tasted like straight tomato sauce from a can. And the other side was grilled veggies, which were nice. The crab cakes were very good, with very little filler. The prime rib was fatty, tough and flavorless and kind of grey. We took most of it home for the dog. By the way, it was $55. My daughter ordered the salmon salad and was very happy with it. My son had the fish sandwich and said the best part of it was the bun. The fish had been fried too long in old oil and was limp and greasy. French fries were too. Although the menu said it came with Cole slaw, which he did not get. I guess he got the fries instead. Both my husband and daughter ordered the French Onion Soup. Apparently they grill the onions, but they were burned and gave the soup a acrid flavor. Not good. My Supreme pizza was very good as always. A solid menu choice. That pizza is 5 star worthy. Water and glasses were put on the table first thing with the menus. One of the 4 glasses had salt left on the rim from someone else's Margarita. Three of us ordered beer but my husband asked for unsweetened iced tea. It came and when he tasted it, asked me to taste it. It was very watered down. He asked the waitress if she could do something about it and she said she couldn't because it came out of the fountain like that. So he ordered a ginger ale instead. He had to ask her 2 more times to get it. Once we were home I looked more closely at the bill and realized they charged us both for the gross watery iced tea and the ginger ale which replaced it. We heard a guy at the next table complaining about the iced tea too. Why not just say it was not available instead of serving a bad drink? Overall, our waitress was not the best because when I ordered a second beer, she brought me a Yeungling, which was the beer my son had ordered, not the Block House Blueberry I had originally. I kept it, I like Yeungling too. So because of the service and the overpriced special, the dirty glass and the greasy overcooked food, the rating can only be 3 stars. Pizza was 5 stars. They need to stick to what they do well which are the pizza, and forget the upscale food.
