Had sent a her a copy of a letter from the State pertaining to my case. After not hearing back from her in a week, i contacted Bill who informed me she was no longer with the firm and he was unaware there were communications from me. Surprise, surprise. How could he know when no one was assigned to replace his secretary. Did he even think to forward her email to either himself or another person while she was being replaced? When he finally called me to discuss the disposition of my case, he began reading me the specifics of one of his other clients disputes, not mine. There was no professionalism in the handling of my situation from start to finish.

This is what I sent to my attorney: I was disappointed when I saw your latest literature mentioning Mike Prieto - even though it just states that he is a colleague who refers to you, because my experience with him, after you referred him to me, was so unbelievably terrible. When my husband became ill, the nursing home refused to call a doctor or give me the name of the doctor who worked with this nursing home. When my son in MD was able to get the doctor's name and contact him, he was not happy that we had his phone number, but he did refer my husband to a hospital, where they said he had had a stroke and he died shortly after. I was furious that they had refused to call a doctor. I contacted Mike, as you suggested. Mike never spoke to me directly, instead Susan Pollock was my contact. She asked for all kinds of paperwork, including 200 pages of hospital notes, which I sent her immediately, along with a lot of other information on his history and events leading up to his hospitalization. Time went by - I called periodically and was told they were discussing it but had not yet decided whether there was a case or not. Then Susan went on vacation - more time went by. Finally they decided they did not think there was a valid case. She said something I didn't understand about something like the level of salt in his system which was in the hospital notes. By that time, it was too late to go to someone else. In my opinion, he does not measure up to your standards, and is completely unreliable.

He's as straightforward as it gets as far as communication, so put easily hurt feelings aside. This man doesn't sugar coat your situation and some comments come across as borderline dramatic, but he makes sure you take your case seriously. Your prosecutor isn't likely to sugar it up, either, so just know you're in good hands to get the best result possible. I truly hope to never need a criminal defense attorney again, but if I do, I'd definitely retain him to represent me again.

I called Melissa to inquire whether she could handle speeding tickets in Jackson County State…read moreCourt. She candidly admitted she was not immediately familiar with the county, but quickly looked it up, noted that it was approximately 90 minutes from her office, and confirmed that, as a licensed attorney in the state of Georgia, she would be able to represent me there. Afterward, I explained the details surrounding my ticket, and Melissa immediately began walking me through the options available to me. She thoroughly explained the potential legal implications, clarified legal terminology, and outlined the possible courses of action I could pursue. She was incredibly knowledgeable, informative, professional, and friendly throughout the conversation. What impressed me most was her honesty and integrity. While she offered her services should I choose to retain counsel, she also emphasized that this was something I could likely handle on my own and potentially avoid incurring attorney fees. She generously spent approximately 15 minutes consulting with me, reiterating the steps I should take and assuring me that if I was unsuccessful handling the matter independently, she would be more than happy to represent me. After speaking with eight different attorneys before finding Melissa, I was pleasantly surprised by how professional, courteous, and genuinely helpful she was. Based on my experience and first impressions alone, I would highly recommend Melissa. She is truly a rare gem.

I am in my low 20s and I was working at a low-income job. I was referred to her through a friend in the criminal defense business. I had called around to other lawyers and law offices and they were condescending and only made me more nervous about the situation I was in. Melissa was the exact opposite. I believe her first words were, "Everything is going to be okay, don't worry." She was extremely thorough and I actually felt safer knowing she was on my side. She communicated everything to me in terms I could understand and kept me up to date and in control of my case. If at any point something would change (in my case or in her working situation) I would receive a phone call asking my thoughts about an issue before she would act. I'm not sure how any of you would feel about this, but I LOVED it. Not only did she have more experience than she had told me, she used all of it to benefit me the most. My case ended exactly as I chose for it to, and quickly, even though Melissa had assured me multiple times that she was willing to go the distance for me. Things you need to know: Melissa is hardworking and consistently did so for me. I was treated with respect. She was willing to work as hard as needed to make sure I was comfortable in my sentence. She was very relatable. On my second DUI I chose to end the court sessions early and my sentence was as follows: All the normal classes that are required for a DUI, a $500 fine, 40 hours community service, and probation (2 years..I chose two years instead of one) that would become nonreporting when I had finished all of the other requirements.
