The chicken was cooked perfectly, and had a clean and slightly sweet taste (mostly from the sauce that the server will pour in your rice bowl just before serving). The chinese chorizo brings more flavor to the dish, and the shiitake mushrooms add a pleasant texture. I only wish there were more of it. The BBQ pork bun had a tasty filling and a soft bun, with a slightly sweet tasting crust on top. It was so good we requested a second serving of it...and a third serving to go!

That's when I learned of King Bee. Masinag seems to be the nearest to our place... even if it's really far away from us. For Sunday lunches with our clan, we go all the way to Masinag to pick up lunch. That's exactly what we did today. Our usuals are their Yang Chow Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, Chopseuy Fried Noodles, Hakaw, Asado Siopao, and of course, Jumbo Siopao. These dishes from them never fail us. Their hakaw has the most shrimp I've ever seen inside a hakaw. The Jumbo Siopao is a mix of bola bola with egg, chorizo, shrimp, and mushroom. I've tried something similar from other places... and King Bee's is still the best.

It's one of the best I've ever gotten to taste. It's seasoned well and is always fresh! Plus, whenever I check the shrimp (yes, I do that), I always appreciate the fact that they take out the black string-like thing found in between the shrimp's body. Their siomai is pretty good too and I usually pair these with their Yangchow Fried Rice. So good! Serving size here at King Bee is always good to share so coming here in groups would be a good idea. What I *have* done however was sit outside in their take-out/outdoor dining area and snacked on a siopao. On several occasions. And not just their siopao either. Their noodles are pretty choice but probably not what you want to eat in the heat of summer while dining outside. Anyway, back to the siopao. The good thing about their siopao is that there's more than enough filling. Their chicken asado is pretty good but as I said, it's chicken... so don't try looking for any chinks of fat mingled in with the meat and sauce. It isn't dry either! There's just enough sauce to go with the meat that it doesn't seem dry or too much sauce that it turns into a chinese Sloppy Joe. As far as siopao goes though, these are a little on the pricier side. At 65php, it's a pretty good meal. Kowloon House is probably the only actual Chinese restaurant around the area (apart from Caution Hot!) now that I think about it. And it's no wonder why they've lasted this long.

My kids have sensory issues when it comes to food and this simple request has always been easily fulfilled. I never expected this restaurant to turn us down. Second, I ordered a vegetarian dish that never came. I think the server got too flustered that I insisted on having plain noodles for my kids that she refused to grant my own order of food. It's disappointing. I come to the Philippines every few years and like a good time with my parents. But this was terrible. Then the server lied when my dad asked why my order never came. She said I never ordered it. After taking my order, she actually followed up a little later to tell me that my vegetarian dish was still coming. At that point every other order was done. Then it still never came. My dad rightfully gave her a piece of his mind and said it was unacceptable. But she still lied and told him I never ordered. Again it's unfortunate. They should train their servers better and let them know how to give good service with a good attitude.
